But David remained at Jerusalem. 2 It happened, late one afternoon, when David rose from his couch and was walking about on the roof of the king’s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; the woman was very beautiful. 3 David sent someone to inquire about the woman. It was reported, ‘This is Bathsheba daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite.’ 4 So David sent messengers to fetch her, and she came to him, and he lay with her. (Now she was purifying herself after her period.) But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord, 1 and the Lord sent Nathan to David. He came to him, and said to him, ‘There were two men in a certain city, one rich and the other poor. 2 The rich man had very many flocks and herds; 3 but the poor man had nothing but one little ewe lamb, which he had bought. He brought it up, and it grew up with him and with his children; it used to eat of his meagre fare, and drink from his cup, and lie in his bosom, and it was like a daughter to him. 4 Now there came a traveller to the rich man, and he was loath to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the wayfarer who had come to him, but he took the poor man’s lamb, and prepared that for the guest who had come to him.’ 5 Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man. He said to Nathan, ‘As the Lord lives, the man who has done this deserves to die; 6 he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.’ 7 Nathan said to David, ‘You are the man! Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I anointed you king over Israel, and I rescued you from the hand of Saul; 8 I gave you your master’s house, and your master’s wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added as much more. 9 Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. NEW TO TRINITY? Helping people to worship God is important to us. We believe that worship is not a passive receiving, but an active encounter with Jesus who stoops to meet us as we worship. The Mostly Liturgical Worship Service at 9:00 am uses liturgy, hymns, worship songs, and silence to guide us in the worship of God. The 10:35 am Church From Scratch Worship Service blends all different types of music, arts, liturgy and free-form worship to help guide newcomers and experienced alike in the worship of God. During the Summer and on Family Worship Sunday, selected Sundays throughout the year, we come together as one worshiping family at 9:30 am.

A Nursery, (downstairs) is available for children two and under at both worship hours. A “Family Room” on the right side of the Sanctuary is available, as well.

Sunday Morning Children’s Christian Education

School Year Schedule - 9:00 & 10:35 Children join their families in the Sanctuary for opening worship and “Learning with Our Children”, then proceed downstairs for class. Parents must sign their children in and out of all classes each week and pick them up promptly following worship. The Sign-in sheet is located in the main hallway outside the Sanctuary doors; sign-out downstairs in Fellowship Hall. This is particularly important after the 9 am service so our teachers can put away materials and set up for the 10:35 class. Thank you for supporting our teachers; you are always welcome to visit our classrooms.

Adult Christian Education Sunday morning and Midweek opportunities are available; check the calendar or contact Robin Olschner ([email protected]) for details.

Film & Faith

Tuesday, December 5 - starting

promptly at 6:15 pm (run time 2 1/2 hours)

The Revenant is based on the true story of a frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s who fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.

Watching this film together will provide us an opportunity for a great discussion, but it is not a film that would be appropriate for younger members of your family. It is rated R for graphic depictions of violence at particular points and there is some R-rating-worthy language as well. Still, we hope that you will join us for an invigorating conversation following our viewing of the film!

Finish Strong! October Financial Update As we enter the final two months of the year, we have much to be grateful for as well as some concerns for which to seek God's help. Our finances have had a positive balance most of the year. As we conclude October, we have a deficit for the year of

approximately $7,500. We anticipate that we'll need new or unexpected gifts to finish strong in 2017. Will you join us seeking God's provision for our church? We turn to our Lord who encouraged us to ask for our daily bread.

Operating Building Year to Date Income $337,591.97 $18,190.12 Year to Date Expense $344,831.22 $18,302.70 2017 Surplus/Deficit -$7,239.25 -$112.58

Financial Update all numbers are

year-to-date as of October 31, 2017.

If you are regularly at church on any given Sunday, why not give a little time to help make Trinity a warm and inviting place to worship? Easy ways to do that are to serve as an Usher and/or Greeter. If willing and able, please contact Dianne Roberts (303-422-3484) for 9:00 ushers; Joan Enget (303-423-8986) for 9:00 greeters; and Cheryl Price (303-989-3855) to volunteer for either ushering or greeting at 10:35. Please consider being a “Hospitality Ambassador” for your church home, even just a few times a year!

Appreciating our Great Trinity Staff

As a church family we traditionally give Trinity staff small gifts of cash and/or gift cards for Christmas as tokens of our appreciation for the great job they do all year. To balance the 2017 financial plan, these gifts were left out of the regular contributions budget so we are appealing to the congregation to support this with a small special giving drive over the first two weeks of December. If you would like to participate please send a contribution to the church with a "Staff Appreciation" designation attached to it, or stop by the Staff Appreciation Christmas Gifts table in the lobby on 12/3 or 12/10 to make your contribution. Thanks!

New Safety Measures Underway

In the interest of security, especially for our little ones, soon the lower level door will only be unlocked for a set amount of time before services on Sunday mornings. We understand that many park in the north lot and take advantage of the elevator; a door chime will be installed for those who may miss that window of time.

And remember, if you see or hear something, say something!!
