LITTLE HERMES AND THE ANIMALS OF HIS YARD

Once upon a time on a farm, a young boy called Hermes, lived with his mother.

There were many animals in the farm, chickens, cats, dogs and rabbits. Little Hermes used to play with all of them and to some he had given names. He called the cock Spyros, the dog Zisis, the cat Jozette and his most beloved little rabbit, Tombo.

Little Hermes went to the yard every morning to play with his animals, but most of all, with his rabbit, Tombo. But the way he played with them offered no pleasure to the poor animals themselves.

He chase the cock and the chickens to pluck some of their feathers off, he kept Zisis hidden somewhere and without food, he grabbed Jozette from her hind legs and rolled her about, and the little rabbit Tombo who was his favorite, he used to lift up from his ears. The poor rabbit was in so much pain, that if only he could speak, he would surely tell him in just how much pain he was all that time.

His mom who saw him torturing animals, told him:‘Hermes, don’t you feel any compassion for our animals? They have feelings too, so don’t you go treating them like that, please’.

But little Hermes did not seem to hear what his mom used to tell him, but instead assured her that they were all having so much fun, and kept on with his game.

The animals were really frustrated with little Hermes. They felt they had to do something to stop this. Their lives were becoming hell with him around.

Thus, one night they thought that the only one who could help would be the animal fairy. That is why they decided to call upon her and ask her to help them.
