Incarcerated Youth

o Hundreds of thousands of children leave home because of abuse by parents or other family members.

Orphans, unwanted children, and runaways are incarcerated along with those that have committed crimes (for stealing food, sleeping in train station). Many suffer abuse while incarcerated in addition to malnutrition, Scabies, STDs.

o “Observation homes” are usually over-crowded, and food supplies are short.

Level 2: Incorporating Bollywood Into Our Literacy

Program

Our Goal: To encourage literacy, impart an essential understanding of health and sanitation, and offer access to job skills among incarcerated street children in India. To help establish business opportunities for a large group (100,000+ minors and some of their families) to contribute to the overall health of Indian people and their economy. Use Bollywood's cultural and social capital to inspire and motivate learning and interaction with teaching programs.

•Incorporating Bollywood into our literacy program will give juveniles the motivation to learn while earning money and making a difference in Jaipur.

•Interns will write scripts, help direct, as well as act.
