LTG Mary Legere is the Army’s Senior Intelligence Officer

and Principal Advisor on Intelligence and Security Policy,

Programs, and Operations for the Secretary of the Army

and Chief of Staff.

She attained the rank of Three Star General in 2012, and

is only the fourth woman to reach that rank.

“I oversee the global operations of the Army’s 58,000-

person Intelligence Corps, the modernization of our

intelligence systems, and the readiness of our formations

across seven geographic theaters, including Afghanistan

and Iraq, and an intelligence budget of over four billion

dollars,” she explains.

“In addition, I advise the Army Chief of Staff of the Army

on Readiness, Operations and Modernization of the

Intelligence Corps.

I am also the Army's lead executive on Information,

Personnel and Industrial Security, the Advisor to the

Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and

Readiness, and Acquisition, Logistics and Technology on

Security and Protection Policies.”

She is also the Senior Army Representative in the U.S.

Intelligence Community, and one of seventeen Senior

Intelligence Officers.

“I am successfully driving the transformation of the

Army’s Intelligence Corps as we transition from a focus

on operations in Afghanistan and Iraq toward refitting

the Army Intelligence Corps to meet the emerging

threats of our Globally Engaged and Regionally Aligned

Army around the globe.”

LTG Mary Legere expects to retire soon, after a military

career that has lasted more than thirty years.

She is exploring her options within the private sector and

within the National Security/Intelligence sectors.
