Dear parents, Our class has the great opportunity to teach you about our literacy program and what we are doing in our classroom. We are holding a literacy night where the students will show you the different literature and share our favorite stories. We are asking parents to share with us a story with us for literacy night. We would like to invite you to do one of the following: 1) Bring your favorite children’s picture book to share. 2) Tell a story that is a tradition orally to share. If the book or tradition that you like is in another language, please share it with us so that other students, other parents, and I will be able to hear another families reading or storytelling traditions. You will have about 5 minutes to share your story with the class, if it doesn’t last that long don’t worry about it. I just want to make sure all those who would like to share have the opportunity to do so. We will have areas to look at different types of genres that are available, what your child likes to read, and why reading is important for students. You will get to see how our classroom library is set up and where your children sit while they read. I have tried to create an atmosphere for children to read and enjoy reading. My favorite memory when reading was when my second grade teacher had areas where we can go and read. I want to try to create that kind of atmosphere the best that I can with what I have.

Dear parents,

Our class has the great opportunity to teach you about our literacy program and what we are doing in our classroom. We are holding a literacy night where the students will show you the different literature and share our favorite stories.

We are asking parents to share with us a story with us for literacy night. We would like to invite you to do one of the following:

1) Bring your favorite children’s picture book to share.

If you would like to volunteer to share a favorite story or share a story of tradition to the class please fill out the form below. If there is a book you would like to read and don’t have it let me know what it is and I will try and get it for you.
