VISIT TALLAHASSEE MUSEUM WITH COMMUNITY OUTREACH The Tallahassee Museum hosts a variety of exhibits to promote knowledge and understanding of the region’s cultural history and natural environment. While touring the 52-acre facility, visitors can see many examples of the indigenous wildlife of this area, in the Wildlife Florida exhibit, and the animals that

would have been on a typical farm in the 1880s in the Big Bend Farm area. The Outreach Program has just added the Tallahassee Museum to its list of service projects for students. On this project, volunteers have an opportunity to make enrichment items for the animals in these exhibits, as well as the animals used for kids’ programs. The items made will then be introduced into the animals’ habitats to help stimulate their natural, instinctive behaviors like digging, sniffing and scratching. This keeps the animals happy and healthy. If you enjoy being outdoors and would like to help keep the Museum’s animals content, you can sign for on Tuesday afternoons in the Center for Leadership and Civic Education.
