II. HT4000L: Overview
HT4000L sits just aside the LC system with a very small bench space requirement.
The main module consists of an automatic liquid handler, a linear tray that handles samples in racks and an intuitive keypad for sample loading and basic operations.
We believe in “robust by design” approach: HT4000L – based on cutting edge technologies and DFX design – well incarnates this philosophy making itself the ideal autosampler for installation in any scenario.

Large sample capacity Feel free to use the sample vessel best fits your processes
176 2ml-vial capacity places HT4000L at the top of its category for sample capacity
Sample capacity together with pre-ahead capability, that brings delay time between 2 consecutive run as low as 12 seconds, make HT4000L the ideal instruments also for large routine labs: throughput and autonomy can be maximized without moving to expensive sample changer solution.
Manages samples out of vials (2/4/6/10/20/40 ml), test tubes, tube blocks or plates: choose from standard racks or enquiry for a custom design.
Custom design racks pay themselves in as low as few weeks of usage by allowing you important savings on sample reformatting operations

Application versatility
It is able to care about the widest range of liquid chromatography applications: analytical, prep, UHPLC, IC, nano… and many more!
Within the standard configuration the autosampler is equipped with an automatic 6-port 2-way vertical injection port valve for analytical applications.
However a wide selection of valves for inert or extended pressure application is also available as per special injection ports for applications where no valve is needed.
7
II. HT4000L: Key Features
Handles the most sophisticated sampling techniques. Parameters are easily programmable to optimize both the most convenient sampling method for extremely volatile or viscous samples and the best injection technique.
No compromise in term of solvent capacity and solvent selection: solvent can be located in vials (for accurate micro or nano volume dispensing) or in bottles (for large volume dispensing).

Application versatility: some examples
UHPLC READY UHPLC applications require an extended pressure range and a reduced amount of injected sample. HT4000L is optimized for such requirements and can be supplied with an UHPLC injection valve or can be upgraded in the field at a later time.
LARGE-VOLUME CAPABILITY
The only real autosampler choice in the market for large volume applications. We provide you with everything you need for your large volume applications: large sample vessel support, large injections up to 10ml, large solvent capacity, large bore size injection valve (or injection port) for real and complete automation.
BIOCOMPATIBLE To handle more complex samples and to assure covering a wider pH range, inert flow path valves are available. Biocompatible applications can take advantage of the double wash step capability: as pre- and post-wash solvent in addition to A, B… F solvents you can also choose a combination of A+B, A+C…. F+E solvents for superior analytical performance (carryover adverse!).

Lab Automation Ready (1/2)The Wow Factor: Get ready for the lab automation revolution!
HT4000L can fully automate your sample prep. Besides working as a standard HPLC autosampler, you may delegate some sample preparation tasks: HT4000L can take care of them as no standard autosampler has been able to assist.
Dilution, precolumn derivatization, pH spiking and internal standard addition are available within the standard version. These operations can be performed in place or in an empty vial by sample dispatching.
If standard sample prep capabilities are not enough get HTAPREP option that allow you to define any complex or custom autosampler method

A Robust Design
No needs for solvent degassing. While some autosamplers require to devote a degasser line or to degas offline wash solvent on each bottle refill we do not. Enjoy HT4000L!
Plumbing connections are visible and tubes run outside the instrument in a well organized manner so that leakage can be spotted out quickly and tube connection can be done easily without instrument disassembling.
At the same time sample reservoir bottles or vials are always visible: user is able to check if a bottle (a vial) is full or empty without removing it from its position
Preventive Maintenance counters inform operator about maintenance intervals in order to minimize and deeply reduce unscheduled out of service times
The on-board auto diagnosis tools allow to quickly spot the source of trouble. The module containing the failed component can be dismounted in a very quick and straight-forward way: it takes no more then 5 minutes. Then it can be sent back to a service center waiting for the repair. Uninstallation and re-installation can be done - in a large part of cases – directly from the customers.

Focus: Push-to-fill approach
The injection technique is the most relevant aspect of an LC autosampler. While the 3 approaches available on the market have comparable results in terms of analytical performance, they differ deeply when looking at additional capabilities and user experience
We have evaluated this aspect carefully and opted for a push-to-fill approach that compared to pull-to-fill and integral loop looks a superior approach when considering: robustness, effectiveness of the washing system, variable injection volume and application versatility
27
Most of the major LC manufacturers have a push-to-fill autosampler in their catalogue besides other injection-technique autosampler; in such case all of them agree to consider
the push-to-fill autosampler the top choice of their offering

Lab automation: is not the same as CTC is doing?!
Nope! We are different from CTC and their VAR versions in 3 main aspects:
HT4000L has been designed as a bench-top instrument. It is not a GC autosampler put on a bench; it is not a compromise between a GC autosampler and a LC autosampler. You’ll recognize the difference when looking at footprint, installation and accessibility to sample area and to user interface
HTA Software are years ahead vs. their software (and their VAR software). Even if CTC software has received some major enhancements in 2013, the gap is still big: competitor software are based on macro, old technology and they are complex to program. Furthermore we are not on hold and by our continuous and short development cycle we are constantly committed to step up the competition barrier and maintain or increase the actual gap.
Upgradability cost. HT4000L asks you to pay for upgradability and additional modules only when these additional modules are required; by buying base unit you are not charged for upgradability. Our competitor technology is different: also when buying the base unit you start already paying for upgradability, even if you will never need

How CHANGE may impact on your lab
32
A modular and scalable autosampler enables laboratories to deal with change scenario.
For Contract labs and R&D labs, change is a need to complete a project/ a contract and to re-use assets for different assignments.
For QC labs, change is typically avoided and undesirable. Furthermore, change is perceived as a threat for asset obsolescence and not as being able to match new regulations or new manufacturing lines.
HT4000L can answer change requirements for Contract, R&D and QC labs offering them flexibility by growing or adapting with their mutating needs.
