Lions District 20R1 TributeMICHAEL BRYCELAND
District Governor 2010-2011
June 18, 2011
District Governor's MessageFellow Lions,
Thank you for giving me the privilege of serving as your District Governor for the Lions Year 2010-2011, and warmly welcoming me when I came to visit your club. Regardless of how many Lions I knew in the room when I walked in, I always felt that I was among friends and after the meeting; I felt that I left with a lot of new friends.
I want to especially thank those Lions who honored me by serving in my cabinet. Please know that your service was greatly appreciated. Without your help and support I could not have been successful in my year as District Governor. While we were not successful in either achieving positive growth in membership or clubs, we were able to stimulate more District wide activities, where we were able to show some Lions Pride and have fun too. It is my hope that this is a foundation that DGE Ray and his team can build on in the next Lion’s year.
I want to especially thank Cabinet Secretary Jay Singer, District Corresponding Secretary Lonnie Spinozza-Johnson and Cabinet Treasurer Steve DeName for making my job easier in the administration of the district. Further, to my zone chairs, Barbara Chuck, Caryl DePalma, Kevin Quaranta, Dennis Hardy, Martin Brooks, Gini Capodieci, thank you for all your help in getting my message out to the clubs and following up with the club on District matters. You were my eyes and ears with the clubs.
Also, I want to thank my council, it has been a long ride since we elected in Buffalo, but from Buffalo in New York to Sydney in Australia to here at Rockleigh in New Jersey, it’s been a privilege to serve with great Lions such as you.
To my family especially my parents, who taught my brothers and I, the benefit of community service at a young age; thanks for all your help this year. Your willingness to put up with my very busy Lion’s schedule and to help me be the District Governor I wanted to be in spite of my employment situation, was very helpful to me over this year. You have my love and respect.
Finally, to my Tribute Committee, Laurie Schacher-Wohl, Barbara Chuck, Steve DeName, Jay Singer, Gini Capodieci, Patricia Hart, Craig Celandar, Ralph Capiodieci, Alex Tanchoco and Rich Kingman, many thanks for putting together this wonderful event, which all Lions in our District can be proud.
Yours in Lionism,Lion Michael Bryceland Michael BrycelandDistrict Governor 2010-2011
