It was a cold wintery morning but Lions of Hayes and Harlington were busy promoting MIAB at a big festival in Hayes. The highlight was the visit of the Mayor of Hillingdon Cllr Brian Crowe .Our efforts and contribution to the welfare of the community were appreciated by the Mayor and the Mayoress. We were also filmed and interviewed by the Media Team of London Borough of Hillingdon, which will, hopefully, be a part of the council’s publicity campaign.

Senior Lions Leadership Institute: 19-23 February 2009 in Prague is open to Lion in good standing that has completed a successful term as club president, but has not yet attained the position of vice district governor. For more info contact: Leadership Officer Lion Viresh Paul

District Youth Celebration: Sunday 23rd November at Allum Hall, Elstree. All the arrangements are in place and we are in the process of collating all the decorations to create an exciting theme based on “The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe”. We need your support by bringing young people to attend and your financial support to make this party a truly memorable one.

LCIF Gala Night: 17 January 2009 at Renaissance Hotel, Heathrow. During the last five years, clubs have given nearly 400 MJF/PMJF to Lions and non-Lions on these Gala Nights. Your club can support in many ways: by donating to LCIF, sending bookings for the Gala Night and by nominating Lions/Non-Lions for MJF/PMJF. For more info contact: LCIF Officer Lion Rati Shah.

Annual Senior Citizens Party: Sunday 1 February 2009, Harrow Leisure Centre. Please send the completed booking forms ASAP to Lion Andrew Allen. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis so book early to avoid disappointment.

Our Convention 2009: 6-7 March 2009 at Sofitel Heathrow Hotel, Heathrow Terminal 5. It is our AGM and every Lion is entitled to attend. I would like to see that all the Clubs of 105a are represented in large numbers. Convention Committee is working hard under the leadership of Lion Ram Jaggi and we can assure you that it will be a great convention, as it always is. Please contact us with your ideas to make it even more interesting.

District officers are there to help and support you so please invite them to attend your meetings. I would also request that all DO to take the initiative and visit Club/Zone Meetings to promote your respective offices.

Clubs are still not sending MMR on time. This month there are 8 Clubs behind by 1 month, 3 Clubs by 2 months, 3 Clubs by 4 months, 1 Club by 5 Months and 1 by 6

months I need your cooperation to achieve 100% reporting every Month. If you have, any difficulties contact your ZC. Also, please don’t forget to send your Monthly Activity Report.

Looking at Reports it seems that we are still dropping many members each month. Retention is very important if we are to achieve Our Target of 100+ members during 2008—2009.

Best wishes to all the members of our Lions family.

LIONS

Welcome to the November edition of DG’s News. This is a very busy time of the year for all the clubs with many fundraising and service activities. Charters are also in full swing now. It is an exciting period; Krishan and I are enjoying meeting more and more members of our District on club visits and other events.

On my recent visit to London Host Lions Club, I had the honor to present 50 YEARS CHEVRON to Lion HL Dannhauser. He has been a member of London Host for over 47 years. Congratulation and best wishes to Lion Danny for his dedication and service to Lionism for the last 50 years.

Members Forum: I am sure that everyone who attended will agree that it was a very successful event. The program was varied but comprehensive. My thanks go to Lion Viresh Paul, to all the presenters and to all those who attended. All the DVD shown at the Forum have been compiled on one disc and sent to all the Clubs. Please use it to inform/inspire your members at your business or social meetings.
