JULY 2016 VOLUME 85

Greetings from Lion President Judi,

Thank you for honoring me by electing me president again. As most of you know I love

being a Lion. We have a very full year ahead of us and I hope that we are able to touch more

people than ever before. Past President John and I have been working on obtaining a visual

screening tool for children which we feel will be a wonderful tool for the children of Cabarrus

County. We also have the VAVS Bingo coming up, as well as our picnic for the LIFE Center

and the VIP Fishing Tournament in October at the Outer Banks and a few projects First

Vice President Lion James Strong and I are working on setting up.

I would like to encourage all of you to consider attending the District Convention on No-

vember 4-5 in Winston Salem. First, for all the fun and knowledge you will experience, and

secondly, to support Lion George Culp our First Vice District Governor. Family Night is

Karaoke and you will

want to go and share

your talents with all

our district Lions. If

you don’t feel like

performing, you still

have an opportunity

to watch some of

your fellow members make fools of themselves; I

A computer once beat me at

chess, but it was no match

for me at kick boxing.

Ever stop to think and forget

to start again?

When I married Ms. Right, I

had no idea her first name

was Always.

My wife got 8 out 10 on her

driver's test--the other two

guys managed to jump out of

her way.

There may be no excuse for

laziness, but I'm still look-

ing.

Women spend more time

wondering what men are

thinking than men spend

thinking.

Give me ambiguity or give

me something else.

He who laughs last thinks

slowest.

Is it wrong that only one

company makes the game

Monopoly?

Women sometimes make

fools of men, but most guys

are the do-it-yourself type.

I was going to give him a

nasty look, but he already

had one.

Change is inevitable, except

from a vending machine.

The grass may be greener on

the other side but at least

you don't have to mow it.

I like long walks, especially

when they're taken by peo-

ple who annoy me.

I was going to wear my cam-

ouflage shirt today, but I

couldn't find it.

If at first you don't succeed,

skydiving is not for you.

Sometimes I wake up

grumpy; other times I let

him sleep.

If tomatoes are technically a

fruit, is ketchup a smoothie?

No matter how much you

push the envelope, it'll still

be stationery.

Some of our fearless lead-ers attended the Interna-tional Convention. Top Left is photo of District Governor Butch Conrad celebrating his birthday with the other governors from North Carolina.

The Convention is kicked off with a parade of all the Lions from every country attending the convention. It normally lasts hours and with the convention being held in Japan, hundreds and hundreds of Lions at-tended and marched in the parade from Asian coun-tries.

Above is photo of the NC Lions getting ready for the parade and on left they are passing in review at the end of the parade. On the front row a Past Inter-national Director Harvey Whitley and Diane.

ing the hospitality room. (note: When I was Vice Governor, the club’s supporting the

hospitality room was one of the nicest memories I have. Please help if you can, Lion

Ron) There will be a boutique in which we may donate and/or purchase items made and

Looking forward to a happy, healthy and prosperous new year with all of you. Don’t

PS: I have had the pleasure of volunteering each

Wednesday at Camp Dogwood to give the staff

nurse a day off. I have done everything from baiting hooks with worms, taking fish off

hooks, serving snow cones, serving meals and seeing to the medical needs of our camp-

ers. It is a magical place for our campers, and the campers and staff are exceptional and

loving people. It is my hope that one day you will be able to volunteer there and find out

for yourself how great our camp is.

Intimidator Ball Game

Everyone attending the ballgame on Tuesday had a great time. It was a fun game; enjoyed by all. Here, club members are seen serenading Lion Trish as Lion Ron leads the choir.

Thanks for the photos, Lion Judi.
