OXFORD BILINGUAL JOURNEY PRIMARY Links between Big Bright Ideas / Big Questions and New Think Do Learn. • Shared content and methodology creates a natural transition between learning English and learning other subjects in English. • Enquiry-based approach promotes autonomous learning and encourages students to start exploring. • CLIL lessons in the English classroom are consolidated in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Arts and Crafts. • During the process of exploring “big questions” in English class, students develop linguistic competences and build critical thinking skills across all subject areas. This cross-curricular activity is linked to a nutrients chant in New Think Do Learn Natural Sciences. In addition, students can expand on the activities by learning more about the types of food there are, and apply critical thinking to the topic of food. Natural Sciences How do they work together? Students undertake a calendar activity in the English class, and then review ordinal numbers and use their critical thinking skills in New Think Do Learn. At the end of the lesson they gather information about a festival to consolidate the content.
