Lifetime Achievement2 0 1 4 D I A M O N D A W A R D W I N N E R S

T H E G R E AT E R N A S H V I L L E A PA R T M E N T A S S O C I AT I O N is pleased to honor W E S H A L L as the recipient of the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award. He is one of the most prominent Landlord Tenant Attorneys in the greater Nashville area.

M. Wesley Hall III was born at the Smyrna Army Air Corps Base in 1944. A Nashville native, Wes graduated from Isaac Litton High School. He started college at Vanderbilt University majoring in Engineering, and completed his undergraduate work with a Bache-lor of Science Degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

During his junior year at MTSU he enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon gradua-tion he attended Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School and served in the U.S. Navy as a reservist for 12 years. He believes his time in the service gave him maturity and a positive direction in life.

Wes has a strong belief in the rights afforded to all Americans by the Constitutions of both the United States of America and the State of Tennessee. He knows firsthand that freedom is not free. As a small child he received the Distinguished Flying Cross posthu-mously for his father, First Lieutenant Moody W. Hall, Jr.

Wes began his working career as an Industrial Engineer with Genesco. He had the opportunity to then take a position as a Law Clerk with the law firm of King & Ballow and attended the Nashville School of Law. His first assignments at King & Ballow included collections and automobile repossessions.

Wes Hall was admitted to the practice of law in the Tennessee State and Federal Courts in 1976. He represented his first landlord client in the late 1970’s.

He has been involved in collection law for 42 years, 4 years as a law clerk and 38 years as a practicing attorney. His practice for the last 35 years has had an emphasis on landlord/tenant relations, collections, evictions and property damage recovery. Wes has assisted the industry in the areas of education and legislative input at both the state and federal level.

Wes has been involved in the Greater Nashville Apartment Association for 35 years. He has served as the Legal Advisor to the GNAA for many years. He also serves as the National Apartment Association’s Tennessee Lease Attorney and is a volunteer lobby-ist for the multi-family housing industry. He has been recognized for numerous industry awards, including the Associate Company Star of Excellence Award, the Distinguished Service Award, and the Presidential Award.

Wes credits his success in our industry to his office team for their support and loyalty. Members of that office team include Glinda Mixon and Sharon Fentress who have each worked with him for over 40 years. He also acknowledges his many mentors, among them Frank King; his father; Bob Ballow, his friend and counselor; and Navy Captain T. L. Jackson.

He has been a member of the Nashville Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, American Bar Association, Tennessee Trial Lawyer Association and Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is also a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management, Community Association Institute, Nashville Association of Residential Property Managers, the Greater Nashville Apartment Asso-ciation and the Tennessee Apartment Association.

Wes is married to his childhood friend of 64 years, Carolyn Hall. Together they have a combined family of 8 children, 18 grand-children and 1 great-grandchild. They enjoy spending time with their family, traveling, and participating in outdoor activities.

Congratulations to our 2014 Lifetime Award Recipient, Wes Hall!
