Update from Seminarian Michael McAndrew: Greetings from Mundelein Seminary! I had a great summer in Charles City and Mason City and now I am back at seminary, entering the final weeks of the semester. This semester has helped me to focus my attention on preparing for Deaconate ordination next May (the 25 th to be exact!). I am taking 8 classes: Homiletics, Rites Practicum, Theological Reflection III, Sacraments of Healing and Vocation, Pentateuch, Ecclesiology, Canon Law, and Canonical Preparation for Marriage. While some of those titles may sound foreign, the topics are very interesting and practical for priestly ministry. As part of our pastoral formation, all the seminarians have been assigned to local parishes in the Chicago area. I am assisting at St. Paul the Apostle in Gurnee, a large suburban parish with a thriving teen ministry. I’ve enjoyed my experience there and it’s nice to have a chance to interact with people at parishes during the school year. In January, I will go to the Holy Land with my classmates. I am anxious, but mostly excited to go! I continue to be thankful for my internship in Iowa Falls, Eldora, Hampton, and Ackley. I have many fond memories and the experience was invaluable to my own formation for priesthood. Thank you for your continued prayers and know that you are in my daily prayer as well. St. Patrick Parish Community Life meeting is December 27 at 5pm. Will be planning activities based on new mass schedule. Questions or comments call or write Deb at 3195606102 [email protected] SCRIP Cards will be available following Sunday Mass at St. Patrick.

A note from Fr. Tony On behalf of Fr. Kevin Earleywine and all the staff of our linkage parishes, I wish you and your loved ones a very happy and blessed Christmas! I pray that the Spirit of the newborn King will fill you with joy and reassurance of God’s presence in our lives. Even in the challenges that we face, we are never alone. The beauty of the newborn King is that he is the sign of God’s presence among us. God is not far away and distant. God is very close to us and lifts us up if we are open to it. I pray that we will have a renewed encounter with the newborn king, that he will open our hearts, and fill us with his divine life. It is the life and love of Christ that brings hope and light to our lives in this world of darkness. Next weekend will be the final weekend of the current Mass rotation schedule. In two weeks, the weekend of January 6th and 7th, marks the next Mass time rotation. Please see the schedule in the bulletin in regards to the times and new locations. Again, I wish you a joyous Christmas and pray that you will be safe if you are traveling. Have a joyous week!
