Two reading strategies I use while reading are....Check for understandingRecognize cause & effect relationships

Please show your examples.

Something that I enjoy about reading at school is that it is always so quiet. Sometimes when I try and readat home, my house is really loud.I just like that it is really very quiethere at school.

A reading sample taken from Dogzilla by: Dav Pilkey

All at once, the volcano began to tremble. And suddenly, up from the very depths of the earth came the most terrifying creature ever known to mousekind: the dreadful Dogzilla! Immediately, soldiers were sent out to stop the mighty beast. The heroic troops were led by their brave commanding officer, the Big Cheese. “All right, you old fleabag,” squeaked the Big Cheese, “get those paws in the air --- you’re coming with us!”

Without warning, the monstrous mutt breathed her horrible breath onto the mice. “Doggy breath!” screamed the soldiers. “Run for your lives!” “Hey, come back here,” shouted the Big Cheese to his troops. “What are you, men or mice?” “We’re MICE,” they squeaked. “Hmmmm,” said the Big Cheese, “you’re right! … Wait for me!”

How have you grown as a writer? When I write stories I now have a lot of different ways to begin and end the story. I also learned how to fit details into the story in a way where you don’t make it to obvious, but you fit the details in there still.

Go to your Wiki page and share your writing.

In Social Studies………..

• Please share your Slave Trade project. Explain your contribution to the group project.

• Something I have learned in Social Studies this year is…… I learned about sailors and explorers in history. I learned what their trips were like and where their trips went. I learned about Henry Hudson and Christopher Columbus and a lot of other sailors. I learned things about how queens and kings helped some of the sailors including Christopher Columbus. Some of the kings and queens included Queen Isabella.

Strengths

One of my strengths is using technology .I am proud of this because I like to help people and when somebody needs help with the wiki or with something about technology, I can help them with their problem.

• Another of my strengths is Spanish. I am proud of this because when I get older I want to be able to speak two different languages fluently and be able to take trips to Spain, or any of the Spanish speaking countries and be able to understand what they are saying.

•One thing I’d like to work on is reading fluently. I want to try and read out loud with very few mistakes instead of having to pause every time I accidentally pronounced a word wrong or used the wrong word.
