Mark Wetzel, Principal [email protected]
Dear Lincoln Prairie Elementary School Families, As we move closer to the end of October, I wanted to remind you about the expectations for Halloween parties, which will occur on Monday, October 31, from 8:15-9:00am. Students should wear costumes to school and bring clothes to change into after the parties. Please see the attached flyer for more information and for specific costume guidelines. Adhering to these guidelines will help ensure a safe and fun environment for all students on October 31. On October 12, your child will be bringing home his/her individual PARCC report (4th and 5th grade only). The report will be accompanied by a letter (in Spanish and English) from Superintendent Heid. Please review your child’s scores and the letter. We have a balanced assessment system in D300 with the belief that no one data point tells the whole story for a child or school. If you have questions about your child’s academic progress, I would encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher. Thank you for your continued support of Lincoln Prairie! Enjoy your afternoon! Mark Wetzel, Principal

Lincoln Prairie will be celebrating Halloween with parties on Friday, October 31st beginning at 8:15am until 9:00am. Students will be allowed to wear their costumes to school. This is an early release day, so students will be dismissed at 11:45am. Due to limited space in the classroom, each room parent will provide the main office with a list of volunteers who will be assisting with each party. Volunteers should visit the table located in the main lobby to check-in prior to the start of the parties at 8:15am. Only the scheduled volunteers will be allowed into the building for the classroom parties.
Students in grades K-5 will be allowed to wear their costumes to school. Students should bring a change of clothes with them as they will return to a regular academic day once their parties have ended.
Due to safety concerns, students may not wear masks or makeup.
No clown costumes will be allowed.
No weapons or look a likes. If it is an accessory, leave it at home.
No blood, blood makeup, or costumes that have pictures or words that relate to liquor, drugs, cigarettes, or profanity.

Atentamente,
Fred Heid Superintendent

October 2016 Dear D300 Parents and Guardians, This past spring, Illinois students for the second year participated in the new state assessment called the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), covering English language arts, math, and writing. The PARCC assessment signaled a change in how student performance is reported. The score reports indicate how each child performed on each portion of the test. It also reveals their overall score, which will fall within one of five performance levels. Students whose scores fall within levels 1 or 2 require greater supports to understand content. Students receiving a 3 are approaching expectations, but may need additional assistance mastering content. Those who receive a 4 or 5 have shown a thorough understanding of grade-level content and are meeting or exceeding grade level expectations. The report also allows you to compare how your child performed in comparison to others in his/her school, our district, and the state. The 2015 PARCC scores provided a new baseline for a more rigorous assessment to measure student progress moving forward. For elementary and middle schools, the 2016 results begin a way to historically track student performance. The state of Illinois recently made the decision to eliminate the PARCC assessment at the high school level after two years of administration, and instead have the SAT fulfill state testing requirements starting this school year. We will review student, school, and district level PARCC data alongside several other assessment measures, some of which include i-Ready reading and math diagnostic results and common district assessments. District 300 has a balanced assessment system with the belief that no one data point tells the whole story for a child or school. I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) with any questions you may have about your child’s academic progress. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child’s academic growth and success. Sincerely,
Fred Heid Superintendent
