To All Our 5th Grade Parents:
PKMS Spring Parent Night 2019. Staff at PKMS are beginning to plan for our Spring Parent Night 2019. Last year we
held parent information sessions on a variety of topics and they were very well attend-
ed. We know that a strong school-going culture is key to student success. That culture is
built through parent knowledge of what schools do and what they have to offer to support
students. Thus, we want our Spring Parent Night to be a useful and informative evening for
you. Click the link below to identify your top three (3) topics of interest that you would like
to learn more about. Additionally, we have provided space for you to suggest topics which
do not appear on the list.

Also, ask your student how exercise affects the brain!

Let's Build It - Chain Reaction in Action! The ball rolls down the ramp, turns the switch, that moves the post, that activates
the zip-line, that knocks the ball down the ramp and into the goal! In this STEAM program, students will be building Rube
Goldberg “Mouse Trap” chain-reaction machines featuring levers, pulleys, and other simple machines. Engineering and
physics concepts will be introduced and reinforced through hands-on, innovative lessons and creative play time. Problem
solving skills and teamwork will be put to the test as the complexity of the projects increases from week to week. On the final
class, there will be a building competition - How many contraptions can you connect in chain reaction? No previous
