• As user bandwidth demand continues to increase, optical access technologies continue to evolve.

• For future PON systems, economics and performance will be the key determining factor

• Many technology options exist for future PON systems: Stacked, WDM, OFDMA, OCDMA;

• 40G Stacked PON provides cost effective bandwidth enhancement to XG-PON. It can reuse ODN and

coexist with GPON/XG-PON. Evolution path: GPON->10G GPON -> 40G stacked PON is the main

direction.

• Because of high cost and cannot reuse the ODN of GPON/XG-PON, WDM PON will not be widely

deployed in recent years. Link FE/GE P2P, WDM PON will be mainly focus on the enterprise and some

VIP customers access.

FT 10G GPON Test

Test result: (From FT)

“The result is beyond expectation. Especially 10G

GPON line card can coexist with GPON in MA5600T

which is deployed in France now. The specification is

conform with ITU standard. They are very appreciate it.”

• The test specification of PHY of 10G GPON is same as

G.987

• 10G GPON and GPON can coexist in MA5600T that has

been deployed in FT
