How often does your FEAR get thebest of you?
Have you ever wondered why youhave not been able to move towardyour some of your accomplishments.
Im not sure if you have ever lookedat it this way, but you are in con-stant battle with FEAR, to see whowill succeed in achieving their goal.FEAR has a goal, and it is aimed atyou.
The goal of FEAR is to keep you safe, alive, and most importantly, to keepyou in your comfort zone. It doesntmatter what level in your life youare in. FEAR will always be there, and FEAR will always have the same
three goals.
I do believe many people underestimate the tools and resourcesFEAR has. FEAR causes self-doubt, panic, stress, anxiety, sadness
and anger. These are serious tools that are used by FEAR when itcomes to derailing you at what you want to achieve. And you willalways know when FEAR is there. And so will everyone else aroundyou.
But how do you control FEAR. Im not sure if you can actuallyconquer and remove FEAR, since it is a deep part of our psyche. Ido believe you can re-manifest the energy of FEAR to a lower formto where you are more cautious than afraid. This is done by attain-ing awareness followed by knowledge. Remember, most of the times
you afraid is because you dont know what is on the other side ofthe door. Or what lurks it the darkness. If you work in an office andyour boss or supervisor calls you into the office unexpectantly, do
you feel any anxiety? Only to find out it was nothing.Knowledge. Plain and simple. Try to recall all the times you wasafraid of doing something, for whatever reason. And for those timesyou controlled your FEAR and did it, you saw how easy and fun itwas. You probably thought, you should have done it sooner. But yet,FEAR to control of your life and determined the outcome for you.
To control your FEAR, find out what it is you are afraid of. Then goand discover what you dont know about that FEAR. Until you fullyunderstand what is manifesting that FEAR, you will always be held
back. And when you look back to see who is holding the chain keep-ing you from your goal, you will only see yourself.

Meditation A q u i ck g u i d e to r e l a x a t i o n a n d w e l l b e i n g
Life today requires so much, both on a personal and on a professionallevel.
We need to slow down at times, in order to get a sense of still having oursouls with us, in what we do and how we handle and manage our lives.
Meditation is known as a component in almost all religions and has beenpracticed for more than 5000 years.
Meditation means to think deeply or concentrate ones mind.
It and can be used for spiritual purposes or simply as a way of relaxation.
Brainwaves during MeditationSeveral studies of meditation show that there are 4 main levels of brain
speed. The lowest is called Delta, here the brain oscillates at 0,5-4 cycles per sec-ond. The Delta state is where you are normally unconscious.
The next level is called Theta. In Theta your brain oscillates at 4-6 cyclesp/s. This level is a state of trance or deep sleep.
Alpha is known as the R.E.M, Rapid Eye Movement, a dream state wherethe brain is oscillating at 7-14 cycles p/s.
Every day life occurs in the Beta level, where the brain speed is app. 14-21cycles p/s. This is the state where you are fully awake.
Raising your EnergyThere are many ways to practice meditation, the most important thingto remember is, that no matter which way you choose to do your dailypractice, it just has to feel comfortable, relaxing and pleasant. The better itfeels, the easier it becomes to incorporate into your daily routines.
At the same time it also has to be a way that makes it possible for you todo on a daily or regular basis. The practice will be more beneficent themore regular you are. It is like the energy begins to know, when you ar-rive and starts to build up energy for you.
For many people it is simply not possible to incorporate more dutiesinto their already too strict and demanding lifestyle, which is why I rec-ommend to start with just 1 minute in the morning and 1 minute in theevening.
Another good way that has proven very effective is 5 minutes beforesleep and 5 minutes, when you wake up, before you get out of bed.
If you feel you have 30 minutes per day, it is even better, but remember itis not the amount of time you choose to use on your meditations, it is thecontinuum and quality you put into it that brings about all the benefitsinvolved.
Beginning to MeditateBegin slowly with just a few minutes and then when you start to advanceand you become more confident with your new discipline, you can al-ways expand the timeframe.
Meditation can be practiced in almost every s ituation of your daily rou-tines since it has to do with you being present and aware.
A good, simple and quick way to begin your meditation is by being awareof your breathing. Try to keep your attention on your breathing all thetime, while meditating. Follow the breath in and out. Always start with agentle slow and deep breath, hold it for a moment and then release it.
Always do this 3 times before you start to meditate, it will automaticallyslow down your breathing and allow you to go deeper within.
One way to begin with meditation could be by sitting on a chair, witheyes closed, your feet touching the ground having your back straight.
Always follow your breath and keep focused on the inflow and outflow.
If you lie down, use the same techniques with your breath just be carefulnot to fall asleep, since meditation only has to do with you staying awakeall the time.

Your Monthly AssessmentThe wheel of life allows you to determine whether you are focusing too much
on one part of your life and so neglecting others. When life is busy, or all your energy is focused on a special project, its all tooeasy to nd yourself off balance, not paying enough attention to importantareas of your life. While you need to have drive and focus if youre going toget things done, taking this too far can lead to frustration and intense stress.
Each segment of the wheel represents one area of your life. Consider eachsection - how satised are you with all these areas of your life? Are youputting as much time, energy and attention into these areas as you wouldlike?
You need to be totally honest with yourself because no-one will see thisexcept you!
The centre of the wheel is 0 and means you are totally dissatised; the outer
edge is 10 and represents full satisfaction and achievement.
Decide your degree of satisfaction from 1 to 10 and mark it on the relevantspoke. Now draw a line to join your degree marks together. How balanced is
your life? Which areas make you happy, satised and fullled? Which areasneed improvement?
Your result shows you the degree to which you are satised with your own
level of balance in your life. How round is it? The rounder the wheel, the more balanced your life. If thiswas a literal wheel on a car or bicycle, how smooth would the ride be? Pickone or two of the sections that youd most like to see change in.
If youd like ongoing support for creating a plan to smooth out your Wheel, consider hiring a coach. Interview at least three to nd one who matches yourneeds and your style. Feel free to contact me for ideas, resources, or referrals.

Growth in Mentoring . . .
The path to professional growth and ultimate success is the accumulation of
relevant skills that can be immediately applied to the context of a work envi-
ronment. So how do we develop new skills at work without the necessity of a
formal academic course? One method that comes to mind is mentoring. For
those seeking to gain perspective in a specic area of a profession or transi-
tory job will benet from a mentor/mentee relationship without leaving the
convenient forum of a current work setting.
Key Element
Many companies have formal mentor programs in place, however, many
still lack in this specic area of staff development. Growth within a companybegins with a key element that is called willingness. So long as the desire
to expand knowledge exists a formal or informal mentorship program will
prove to be an invaluable asset to marketability within a current employment
endeavor or in the future when those skills can be cultivated further. For
those who do not currently work for a company with a formal mentoring pro-
gram available, the option to engage in mentoring still exists provided that
the interested party takes the lead in the mentor/mentee relationship thereby
demonstrating commitment to personal or professional growth.
Roll of the Mentor
Generally speaking a mentor is a professional individual who can aid in an
employment pursuit that is mutually benecial. The role of a mentor can
include: assistance with job transition; personal and professional growth for
business results; and is the individual in the mentor/mentee relationship who
delivers opportunities as they arise. In contrast, the role of a mentee will be
one of: goal oriented student, networker eager to nd job opportunities
within the company; and at ease with making new allies in the pursuit for
greater knowledge. However, both mentor and mentee should reciprocate
and foster a learning experience while both receiving a reward as teacher/
guide and student/apprentice. In other words, the mentor wishes to give
valuable knowledge and the mentee is eager to receive that knowledge for the
sake of achieving a greater end in personal or professional objectives.
Mentor Matching
The checklist for nding a mentor can be a personal ordeal of matching
personalities. However there is also a basic recommendation that can be
followed. When seeking a mentor the following factors should be taken into
consideration:
Seek qualities that you are looking to take on.y
Dene what you would like to learn.y
Look at mentor competencies and exposure.y
Engage with a mentor willing to provide feedback.y
Focus on the skill you are looking to gain.y
Evaluate mentors value system as compared to your own.y
Be trustworthy and look for trustworthiness.y
Maintain consistent and open communication.y
Once a mentor is selected, determining the measure of growth will be signi -
cant. Ideally, a numeric system will be used to qualify the target skill: Where
is the skill now and where could it be in X amount of time? Setting dead-
lines is important, but not necessary provided that both parties have commu-
nicated their availability for short-term or long term projects. The measure of
growth is much more substantial as the mentee begins at a relatively insigni -

Dear Carlos,
I am about to re-enter the working world. I took four years offwhile my children were babies and am about to start a part timejob. I know I can do the work in my sleep. But I am having selfconfidence issues about it. I am also feeling some guilt, as itwill take some evenings and weekends away from my family.
My husband says things like it doesnt matter if you work.Which sounds nice, but it really comes across as unsupportive. How do I get past the fears of going to work again? Kristine
Kristine,
First let me congratulate you for having the courage and
strength to move forward on such a major life-change. I can
only assume that this move you are taking, will later lead to
you eventually working on a full time basis.
Suffering from low self-confidence is a par t of life. Es-
pecially, when you are going through a major life change
or challenge. If you are looking to raise your level of self-confidence, you will need to start by thinking and speaking
in a positive manner. Make sure you are saying I will do
or how am I going to ... vice saying will I ... or can I ...
As you continue to speak and think in a positive tone, your
actions will become aligned to support your achievements.
Low self-confidence issues are one of the side effects of
taking chances. As you start to question yourself, you begin
to have doubts. Instead of questioning yourself, you should
be focusing on your strengths and work towards strengthing
any weaknesses you feel you have. Here is one exercise you can use to strengthen your weak-
nesses. Write down all the things you are having doubts
about. This can include anything you feel you are inad-
equate about as well. Write these down in bullet format.
Once you have quickly jotted these down, go ahead and
elaborate on each point you made. How can you justify
each one. Think about what do you need to do to improve
yourself in this area. This exercise should also help to re-lieve any guilt you are feeling.
When it comes to communication, you really need to make
sure you understand the under lying message before you
begin to assume anything. If you cannot ask your husband
if he is really supportive of your efforts, then you need to
take his word that he is.
Your combination of low self-confidence and guilt can
subconsciously work to undermine your efforts to becomse
successful at work by creating problems at home. This is
dangerous as it can directly affect your marriage if it con-
tinues to escalate.
Kristine, to get past your fears, acknowledge what you
want to do. Identify, by writing down, what is holding you
back. And create solutions to ensure your success.
Ask the Coach. . .

Benefits from MeditationThere are many benefits gained from meditation on a regular basis.
The most common results are stress and anxiety reduction, super chargedconfidence and motivation. An accelerated healing of unresolved mentaland emotional blocks. Intuition starts to build up and you may begin tohave visions that can help you understand many of your lifes big ques-tions.
Meditation also increases all your mental abilities, such as: focus, concen-tration, enhanced learning and the control of your life. You will soon feelan improved sense of wellbeing and it will give you a more restful sleep, which in return, gives you a less stressful day. You will also feel that prob-lem solving becomes easier since you begin to connect with your owncreativity.
The reason why meditation offers so many benefits is because you begin to
dive in and reconnect with your subconscious, where all information andknowing you will ever need, is stored.
Once you reconnect with this source through meditation, you soon discoverthat there is so much more within you, than you have ever dared to believe.
Dora Francia is the facilitator of several events andseminars held in France and Italy. Including meditationworkshops and fasting retreats, helping people regaintheir inner strength and wisdom by rst getting ridof excess mental and physical pollution. She teacheshow to reconnect oneself easy and effectively by smallefforts. The techniques Dora uses are practices knownthroughout history with a simple approach, for the use

cant level and develops the skill into a level that can be engaged in productivity
to the benet of the individual and company.
Mentoring Dynamics
Once these elements are in place so begins the exchange of ideas between
mentor and mentee thereby creating a dynamic work environment where the
mentor recognizes a level of expertise that he or she is willing to share with oth-
ers as an act of self acknowledgment and satisfaction with their general accom-
plishments in that area. Simultaneously, the mentee has a unique opportunity
to learn from a veteran in the eld who has learned from previous mistakes and
wants to learn the ropes from an expert or someone who has extensive expe-
rience in that eld. Notably, personality compatibility, skill assessment, reputa-
tion of the company and potential mentor will be relevant, but not as signicantas developing skills within the structure that is already fostering an opportunity
to learn as income is earned.
The bottom line? Use a current employment opportunity to learn as much as
you can from notable leaders in your company. The effort will be worthwhile
as skills increase and professional or personal development improve.
