Impressions about the Comenius week in Latvia

May, 2012

We all were happy to have all the participants

here. That was a great experience for our

students to host students from Turkey, Spain,

Germany and Italy. Of course it was a hard

work to organize all the activities, excursions,

meetings and plan everything step by step. But

the main goal was reached – students now are

more ready for their futures because every new

experience creates

the sense of self

confidence and

makes people think

more creative. The other thing, what is as

important as the aim of the project is getting a new

friend and I think our students now are rich with

friends from 4 different countries. Dear our guests,

we would love to thank you for being so

understanding and open! We thank all the people

involved in the second meeting!

HERE ARE THE EXPERIENCES AND OPINIONS OF THE SPANISH PARTICIPANTS

Transportation:

not very comfortable mini-bus from Riga to Liepaja. The driver was impatient and rude,

very cheap and comfortable transportation,

very rude bus driver from Riga to Liepaja,

the public transport was good and there was a very interesting pay system,

tram was the best of all public transports but the bus driver was rude and stubborn from

Riga to Liepaja.

Accommodation:

Peculiar hotel, interesting decorations, staff of the hotel wasn’t very friendly and helpful,

Perfect conditions, feel like being at home, a very nice host family,

A good place to live in,

A very friendly Latvian sister who helped with everything, a very comfortable and nice

house,

A very big bedroom with a big and comfortable bed, everything is fine,

Host family is very polite and helpful,

At the beginning the hotel looked very cheap and rough and the staff wasn’t polite. The

breakfast wasn’t good too. And there were problems with toilets – there were room

without the toilets.

Activities at school:

Too long presentations at school, boring and could be split in two days,

Activities at school were very useful and educational,

Very good activities because all the participants were together,

Very funny and interesting activities,

The lessons were great and classrooms looked nice too,

Nice activities except the presentations,

Good activities and the planning was ok too

but sometimes a bit stressful because there

were no breaks between the activities

Meals:

Good to try the local food but the best was

barbecue,

Very different meals, the best were pancakes,

Good, no problems,

Latvian food was very good, except salad and

sorrel soup,

Barbecue and pancakes were great but sorrel soup wasn’t delicious,

Good in general but in “Namīns” students missed the main course because they didn’t eat

soup – only pancakes. It was too less for them,

Food was very well and different from

Spanish food.

Visits:

Excellent guide who showed and

explained everything, the visit to

theatre was great too,

Too many visits, too boring,

Nice excursions, nice city,

Very interesting visits, especially to

museum and theatre,

Boring visits, too many,

Really interesting visits and the best

was the museum,

Interesting visits, the best was Sauna

and SPA

Likes:

The Latvian teachers, SPA and an

excellent organisation,

People were polite, friendly and helpful,

The tour through the city was the best,

everything was good,

The best was to meet Latvian family,

Welcoming was so warm and all teachers so helpful and friendly.

Dislikes:

Sorrel soup wasn’t good,

Some problems at the hotel,

Far from home,

The bus driver,

The trip from Riga to Liepaja wasn’t comfortable.

Transportation:

Very quickly and comfortable,

Good, easy, clean and comfortable,

Very good and easy to travel in Liepaja,

Accommodation:

Everything is very good,

Feel like at home, very cosy,

A very kind girl, very nice family and a good place,

Very close to the city centre,

Activities at school:

Didn’t attend lessons at school,

Mathematic was interesting,

Could be more activities at school,

the best was lunch at school,

Latvian typical soup wasn’t good,

I loved Latvian meals,

Transportation:

HERE ARE THE EXPERIENCES AND OPINIONS OF THE LATVIAN PARTICIPANTS WHO HOSTED THE PARTICIPANTS AT THEIR OWN HOMES

This week was an interesting experience. I got

lucky with my italian girl, because she was

funny and friendly. We understood each other

very well. I met a lot of people from different

countries.

I didn’t like the presentations, they were a bit

boring. Some excursions were boring, but

there were some facts about Liepāja, that I

didn’t know.

During ‘’Comenius’’ week, I liked all activities which we

participated in this week. Food, transport- it was good. All

events were nice and my italian friends were happy.

Things, which I didn’t like- events were only for foreign

friends, not for us- latvians. Some events were a little bit

boring, but It’s fine, because there are not many new

activities for us in Liepāja.

During the ‘’Comenius’’ project I did like that I met new

friends. It was very educational and fun at the same

time.

I didn’t like that at school’s cafe we didn’t eat all

together. But it’s just one drop in the ocean, compering

to all the good things that happened.

It was a good week, I liked It. The

church and the SPA was incredible. I

was satisfied with the food.

The ‘’Comenius’’ week was a great chance to

meet new people, to improve English and

German skills. It was interesting to hear the

guest’s opinion about the situation in our city

and country. They gave many new ideas-

there is still many factors to be improved in

Liepāja.

In ‘’Comenius’’ week, I liked the connection

between ‘’Comenius’’ participants. Students

from Turkey were friendly. I really liked

Karostas prison.

I didn’t like the presentations, because they

were too long, and I got boring and I also didn’t

like event, which was in ‘’Namīns’’.

During the ‘’Comenius’’ week I liked all events,

which were in Liepāja. My exchange partner

Natascha from Germany is a fantastic person. I liked

events in Namīns, swimming pool, Karostas prison,

theater. The food was great.

I didn’t like that we had so much free time, I didn’t

have any idea, what I want to do with my partner. It

was such a great experience!

I really liked my spanish friend. She was friendly and

comunicable. I liked the free time, because then we

went to cafe, bowling and other places.

I didn’t like the presentations, they were too boring.

I really enjoyed ‘’Comenius’’ week. The best was-

that I made new friends. I liked all the activites we

had.

I didn’t like, that the week was so short, just in the

end we started to feel comfortable with each other,

but then it was time for her to leave.

But after all- I loved everything and I can’t wait

when go to Germany.

During ‘’Comenius’’ week, the time went so fast,

that I didn’t even notice, when my spanish friend

was already gone. I really enjoyed all the activities

and events, which happened in this week. I was

also satisfied with food and events.

I didn’t like that the free time was so short,

presentations were too long, uninteresting and,

that at the end of the day we were very tired from

all the activities.

During the ‘’Comenius’’ week I was very satisfied with my

host student from Spain, I liked certain activities aswell,

the best was Karostas prison.

I didn’t like the food, very tiring were those days which

were filled with different activities, we almost didn’t have

any free time.

That week was very interesting. My partner from Spain

was quiet, but very fun. I liked my Spanish friend.

A lot of fun time was in Vērbeļnieki, I liked it very

much. I liked that I spoke English a lot.

I didn’t like that she went home.

In the ‘’Comenius’’ week I liked that we had no

lessons. I had a good time with my friend, I

enjoyed going to SPA, everyone of us were able

to relax. I didn’t like that we had to walkt a lot,

because it was hard.

I was unsatisfied with so short free time.

I enjoyed everything. My exchange student was

so cool and with a good humor. Food was tasty.

I liked all the activities. I liked the trip to

Vērbeļnieki, so much fun activities. I liked that,

we didn’t have any group works. For example

group work about ‘’jobs’’.
