• Phase 1• A Monarch butterfly lays an egg.

• They lay the egg on a leaf.

• The egg is the size of a period.

• Phase 2• Larva/caterpillar

• 1 month from egg to larva

• Eat a lot of the leaf

• Grow very quickly

• Phase 3• Cocoon

• Hangs from a leaf

• Soon it will become a butterfly!

• Phase 4• The butterfly is finally free!

• 2-5 weeks till they lay an egg

• Then the cycle starts all over!
