President’s Report: 2017 Club Elections and Club Renewal

Graeme Murray

The strength of Life Activities Club Heidelberg is its wide range of activities available to members. We are

able to enjoy these activities courtesy of enthusiastic volunteer convenors. Whenever we need a new

convenor there is usually somebody ready to pick up the challenge.

The club committee takes ultimate responsibility for the health and smooth running of the club, meeting in

alternate months to make decisions on behalf of the club. Again we have been well-served by enthusiastic

volunteers on the committee, and replacements have emerged to replace those who leave the committee. I

thank our convenors and committee members on behalf of the club; we value you very highly.

I thank Colin and Elaine Overton, who have moved recently to be nearer to family, for

their contribution to running the club and adding to the enjoyment of cub activities. Right

now we are seeking somebody to take over from Colin on the committee. You might like

to be elected to the committee at the AGM in October. Please consider standing; you will

be made welcome and be very well-supported. You will also be adding a valuable network of great friends.

There are many people in our local communities who would qualify for membership of LACH and

could derive great benefits from participating in the club. Newly retired people are usually on the

lookout for interesting things to do. You could help them out. Give your “old” LACH newsletter to

a potential new member. Don’t just throw it away.

Thank you for your support in the past year while I learnt “the ropes” as President of LACH.

Life Activities Club Heidelberg 2017 Annual subscriptions (Single: $20.00; Double: $38.00) became due on

1st of July. 34 members have become un-financial. If you are affected, please pay ASAP to ensure that

you continue to receive the LACH newsletter. All enquiries to the Treasurer: John Lumley 9459 2740.

Please make cheques payable to Life Activities Club Heidelberg Inc. and forward to: The Treasurer,

LACH Inc. P.O. Box 245, Rosanna, 3084. Also please provide your name & address

Mill Park, Rosanna, Thomastown, Watsonia and Whittlesea.

All branches offer one-on-one (booked) technology sessions with a library staff member or experienced

volunteer. YPRL offers computer-related sessions at branches. Session details, including locations and

We meet at 10.25 AM on the second Sunday of the month, at Rosanna Railway Station. We will be eating

indoors in the cold and chilly weather, but you may bring your own lunch. Some might buy a cup of coffee.

On some of our Sunday train travel days we may be directed onto buses from Rosanna to

Clifton hill, due to the railway crossing being developed at Rosanna station. This disruption to

the Metro rail travel for us will last for quite a while, so we will have to be patient on our day out

till the construction is completed.

Railway stations have notices to let you know in advance if train is running all the way to the city or not. I will

endeavour to look on line before our day out to see if the trains are running or supplemented by buses.

Please join our friendly group in exploring Melbourne with free Sunday train travel.

We take our lunch and you can buy a cuppa or bring your own, and we all enjoy a chat

together after our swim, catching up on LACH news.
