SEKADER is a local NGO aiming to socialize disabled people of the area through water sports. They hired a camping site where they teach swimming, kanoing and diving to disabled people. To raise a fund to cover the costs of the camping site they run a camp to practise English. Good English speakers are invited to spend 2 weeks with a group of international youngsters who wish to improve their English in such a camp.

W: Practicing English through daily activities, games and manual work. Volunteers must be minimum 20 years old and agree to share responsibilities together with the group leader. Practicing English is the main aim of this camp. Thus creative volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama, sport will be preferred. Karaagac is the last town of Turkey before the Greek border. The boarding school in the town hosts 50 disadvantaged kids from lover economical level families of the region. Native or non-Native English speakers are invited to spend 2 weeks with mostly teenagers and some university students in a camp site in order to practice English by daily lessons, activities, games and some light manual work. Volunteers must be minimum 20 years old and agree to share responsibilities together with the group leader. Practicing English is the main aim of this camp. Thus creative volunteers with some experience on teaching, outdoor or table games, music, drama, sport will be preferred. A motivation letter including the Skype ID should be send along with the application form. Applicants will be interviewed via Skype before being confirmed. Smoking and alcohol consuming is not allowed during the camp. W: Organizing and running daily activities with local and international teenagers to practice English.

Description of GEN-17 JUBILE CAMP (FRENCH SPEAKING) GOMURGEN/KAYSERI 15.07-30.07 15 VOLS Workcamp:

The isolated but hospitable town Gomurgen is going to host international volunteers for the last time as a jubilee. GENÇTUR has run 6 consecutive work camps in the past years and paved the streets of the town, cleaned the ground in the tree nursery and took care of the trees in the following years. This year the mayor is planning an awareness project for the locals about “clean environment”.

W: Volunteers will collect the waste materials in and around the town. A: In a house reserved for the volunteers in rooms for 6 people. Toilet and shower are shared, Sleeping bag and mat are necessary. F: The volunteers will prepare their own meals with the given food.

A small primary village school needs your help to look better. Esme village will host international volunteers to realize this. You will have a chance to see the real traditional village life in this camp. A local scout group will assist the volunteers at work and free times. A trekking and orienteering competition with the scouts will be organized in the free days.

W: Paving te garden of the school, painting in and outside walls of the old school, drawing pictures on the kindergarden’s wall.

A: In the rooms of the school, toilet and shower are shared. Sleeping bag and a mat are necessary. No alcohol is allowed at the project site. F: Volunteers will prepare their own breakfast by the given ready food. Lunch and dinners will be

Eskipazar is a small and green town. The mayor is keen of hosting foreigners in his town. Last year a group of international volunteers drew pictures on a wall in the town. This year another wall will be painted. The municipality will prepare the drafts and ask the volunteers to apply them on the wall. W: Drawing and painting a wall in the town in order to give a better looking.

will sleep in different blocks of the same building. F: Volunteers will prepare their own breakfast with the food supplied. Lunch and dinners will be eaten in a restaurant.

Description of GEN-34 PARKS & PLAYGROUNDS SARIYER/ ISTANBUL Workcamp:

01.08 - 10.08 RENO15 VOLS

Sariyer Municipality of Istanbul will invite international volunteers to give a hand for environmental arrangement works in the parks and children playgrounds of the town. The municipality is aiming to give a better looking and offer better conditions for the environment where the locals especially children spend their free time. Although they will work hard the volunteers will enjoy Istanbul & its shores in their

free times. But please also be aware that as the duration of the camp is only 10 days, there will be only 1 free day during the camp. By another saying while enjoying Istanbul, the volunteers should be aware that the work is really hard and

tiring. They will most of the time work in open air under sun and the heat will be disturbing. The accommodation is half an hour away from the town center by the Black Sea coast. Volunteers will be transferred daily from the venue to different working areas and the duration of the transport is not considered as working time.

Lunches will be eaten at the working site as packed sandwiches while breakfast and dinners will be supplied at the accommodation venue. If you are a lazy, only fun seeker and not punctual person please do not apply. This is not a project only to have fun. A good motivation letter is required to be selected.

W: The work will vary daily, like painting the playing tools in a children playground or in a sport area, cutting bushes, greening areas, weeding, rubbish collecting,

waste collection and separation, planting-uprooting and watering flowers, hoeing and leveling the ground, etc.

A: The group will stay in the guest complex of the municipality. Sleeping bag and mat are not necessary. The venue is by the Black Sea in the north of Istanbul and located in a village called Kilyos and half an hour away from the town centre.

F: Breakfast and dinner will be supplied at the accommodation venue. Lunches are basic as packed meal and eaten at the working site during the lunch break. R: A motivation letter should be sent with the application form indicating that volunteer is aware of the hard working conditions and the shorter duration of the camp. LA: English.

Work: Volunteers are expected to work in the campus of Celal Bayar University, which is one of the biggest education centers of the city. Main working areas are landscaping, cleaning maintaining, repairing and painting of sport facilities in Muradiye Campus. Volunteers will work approximately 5 hours a day according to schedule of the organization. On weekends, there will be excursions to national park and touristy places in Manisa, known as city of Ottoman princes.

Work: Volunteers will work in public parks, children playgrounds and gardens in 12 different districts in Burhaniye. They are supposed to work in gardening and cleaning of parks, planting trees, sowing flower seeds and mowing lawns, etc. Volunteer group will have good time while creating a better environment for children and local people, who are ready to receive them with open arms in Balikesir. The group will also visit historical and touristic places Balikesir in the leisure time.

Food and Accommodation: Cafeteria / Guesthouse in a sport center.

Location: Balikesir is a province, which has shores on both Aegean and Marmara Sea. It is located on northwest of Turkey and has many transportation options from Ankara, Bursa, Izmir or Istanbul by railway or highway. The city is still reflecting the heritage of Byzantine Ottoman and early Republic of Turkey’s history. Turkish baths and mosques are still open to visitors.

Location: Mugla is one of the most touristic Aegean cities in Turkey which lies at the southwestern coast. It has many touristic coastal towns like Bodrum, Fethiye, Milas and others which attract thousands of tourists every year. The city is a member of “Association of Historic Towns in Turkey”. Besides cultural wealth of the city at present, it’s getting richer with the additional cultural events and activities of the recently founded Mugla University.

Work: During previous camps hosted by Mut Municipality, a building was restored which later became a cultural centre with the volunteer’s help. This year the volunteers will take part in some environmental cleaning, landscaping in public parks. Working hours will be determined with the volunteers. Mut is a member of “Association of Historic Towns in Turkey” and there are many historical and touristic places like Dagpazari Church, Alahan Monastery, Karaeksi and Alaoda Cave in Mut.

Description of GSM10 DU / Kutahya16.08¿31.08.2013ENVI/CONS 18 Vols18-99 Workcamp:

Work: Volunteers will be given some environmental and renovation work inside Dumlupinar University. Also, there will be some reparation work in a high school near to central district. Volunteers will work approximately 5 hours a day in a week. In this work camp, volunteers will use the university facilities and have chance to visit city center, which has many to see from different ages, and some touristic places in the neighborhood.

Description of GSM11 Akbuk /Aydin16.08¿31.08.2013ENVI/RENO 18 Vols18-99 Workcamp:

Work: Volunteer group will be helping the municipality do some environmental and renovation work in the district. Similar to last year, volunteers will be working in children playgrounds and other public spaces. There will also be trips to historical and natural sites of the city as it has beautiful coasts, wonderful views of nature.

Food and Accommodation: Self-Catering / Guesthouse

Location: Akbuk is a small seaside town, just next to the famous Didim, at about 100km from Aydin city centre. It has an 11km coastline along Akbuk Bay. Local people are mostly engaged in fishing and tourism. There is an ancient church dating back to Greek period which was recently renovated to serve as a library and cultural centre.

Description of GSM12 Tarsus / Mersin Workcamp:

Work: Similar to previous volunteer programs of Tarsus Municipality, volunteers will be asked to do some environmental and renovation work; such as cleaning, painting, repairing and sustaining of public areas. There will be also excursions to city’s different historical and natural sides.

Location: Tarsus is a district of Mersin and it is 20 km inland from Mediterranean Sea. It has hosted various nations throughout the history. The city welcomes the volunteers with its beautiful nature, historical monuments, ruins from antique and middle ages and modern structures of a developing city. Cleopatra´s Gate, church of St.Paul, architectural works from Ottoman periods and early Republic of Turkey are some of the most remarkable features of the city. Local cuisine includes sandwich with grilled meats wrapped in flat bread named “tantuni”, a dessert made by carrot called “cezerye” and a sour drink named “salgam”.

Work: Volunteers will take part in organization and preparation of an area within the frame of “Baris Festivali (Peace Festival)”. A park will be determined and arranged as “Peace and Friendship Park” with the help of volunteers. Volunteers will also promote the festival and take part in the organization. Leisure time activities will be archeology trips and excursions to antique cities in the regions.

Location: Getting its name from the ancient temple of Apollon called “Didiymeion”, Didim is one of the ancient Greek cultural centers. With its 60 km coastal band, clear sea, a total of 13 km of beautiful beaches and ease of international transportation from Izmir, Didim is a popular touristic area, mostly inhabited by English citizens. It¿s one of the only two touristic towns of Aydin.

Work: This year, volunteers will be repairing a school in the district. Beside, camps dates coincide with a festival; therefore, volunteer group will be asked to help the organization and promotion of “Emek Festival”, which lasts about 4 days and attracts people from near districts and provinces. There will be excursions for touristic and natural sites in the region as leisure time activities.

Food: Breakfast and lunch will be provided by the municipality. Dinners will be prepared by the volunteers and it will be a good chance to taste dishes from different cultures and to present your meals.

Accommodation: Guesthouse

Location: Aliaga is located about 50 km from Izmir, the city center. It is a very attractive district for tourist due to its shores, birds and scenic beauties.
