Gen Ed Reform Appointed a Gen Ed Reform Working

Group to respond to Provost’s white paper

Organized two faculty meeting discussions led by Gen Ed Steering Committee leaders

Library faculty members were appointed to all 11 curricular teams

Evidences for promotion and tenure Addressed the Provost’s charge to

colleges to develop evidences for promotion and tenure

Appointed an Evidences Working Group to compile examples of evidences

Group gathered information and led first faculty discussion. Work is ongoing.

Faculty Mentoring

Formed a Mentoring Working Group and a permanent Mentoring Committee

Committee held various mentoring events and is planning a mentor match system.

Rethinking Research Libraries Developed theme for yearlong faculty

discussion

Launched with overview and discussion at 2008 fall Faculty retreat

Members of EC made presentations at faculty meetings

Revised Library Faculty Procedures Drafted revised procedures

Held faculty discussion on proposed revisions

Revised Procedures adopted by faculty in May 2009

New procedures approved by Provost July 2009

“effective to very effective” 2009 overall effectiveness: 3.80 on

scale 1-5. Most important issues 2008: evidences,

review of faculty performance evaluation process, gen ed reform, mentoring
