PREFACE

This primer, the second in a series of two, has boen prepared to teach the Cotabato Manobo people to read first in the vernacular, for litoracy is a skill best gajned j_n

one 1s mother-tongue. This second primer, based on the phonics method of instruction, introduces the last three vowels, and seven consonants from a total of 21 letters of tho Manobo alphabet.

The symbolization of the alphabet is o.s follows: ~'

£, k, g, £, ~' gt Q, i, 1, m, n, ng, Q, E, .£, !, R, ~' z, ::, Tglottal stopJ. £ is pronollllced some'What us the 1c 1 in Pangasinan, ~as the vowel solllld in the English word 'let•, and~ as a bilabial English 'f'. All tho other letters are pronollllccd as their National language equivalents.
