Leadership and Ethics for the Emerging Future

Organised by LIBA in collaboration with National HRD Network

Concept Note

BEACON 2016

Leadership and Ethics For the Emerging Future

Leadership in conjunction with Ethics and good Governance can create trust; it can create pleasant and productive workplaces that are characterised by high levels of fairness, respect and accountability; It can foster sound relationships with internal and external stakeholders; it can position the organization as an employer of choice, attracting and retaining the best talent; it can create a high degree of customer and investor confidence; it can and should be a key differentiator that accords ethical organizations a unique source of competitive advantage; in short it can make all the difference!

But paradoxically, going by the mood of people in organisations and recent research, the respect and reverence for both Organizations (governance) and Leadership is not particularly high; Ethics and Leadership statements, Values, Beliefs and Vision, remain merely as artefacts in Office corridors and meeting rooms with no real spirit of being lived through.

BEACON 2016 has taken upon itself to debate and discuss this seeming divide!

“Leadership and Ethics for the Emerging Future” the theme of the conference, has been chosen consciously, to explore the latest thinking amongst HR leaders in shaping People practices and Ethics centred Leadership for the future. We have accordingly chosen themes that have a bearing for the future as distinct from the past.

HR leaders, who have truly journeyed towards good governance and ethics of a high order in their quest for fairness, equity and dignity at the workplace, have been invited to share, debate and present their perspectives and challenges on significant themes of Leadership and Ethics both as practices at the work place and in developing Leaders for the future.

Some significant Beacon 2016 themes:

Impact of Ethics and Governance in shaping Employee attitude and behaviour A need to rethink Talent Management? - Issues and Challenges The role, significance and need for “Spiritual Quotient” in Organisations
