*Untold Stories* Sunday, August 1 11 am-12 pm Untold Stories is a new eight part video series by author and historian Michael Keene. Episode Two, The Code of Handsome Lake, is the true story of the Seneca Prophet who saved a nation. A link will be sent prior to the premiere.

The Interview Process Monday, August 2 7-8 pm

Part five of a five-part series to help you prepare for and navigate your job search. Nakita Vanstory will guide you through the Interview Process.

*Wild Long Island* Thursday, August 12 7-8 pm

Chris Paparo, wildlife photographer and writer, will present this fascinating program on the wildlife that can be found on the land, in the air and in the waters of Long Island. All attendees will receive a beautiful Peacock Diamond painting kit. Kits can be picked up on Friday, August 13 at the Reference Desk.

*Seasonal Mocktails* Thursday, August 19 7-8 pm

Vanessa Young will present Seasonal Mocktails: The Art of Non-Alcoholic Mixology. Flavorful and sophisticated non-alcoholic drinks are perfect for entertaining and everyday enjoyment. Learn the art of making drinks, syrups, infusions and edible garnishes. Follow along and make a delicious Tea Sangria to enjoy at our Summer Wrap-up Cele-bration! Ingredients needed and recipes will be emailed to registrants prior to the program.

Letterbox Challenge August 1-31

The 2021 Letterbox Challenge is all about bringing the community and merchants together in the aftermath of this unprecedented difficult year. It is a month-long event. The participating merchants have a Letterbox picture frame inside their business. Solve the clues to find each location, visit them during their business hours and follow the instructions in the kit. One kit per family can be picked up at the Reference Desk. This is a FAMILY EVENT that wraps up our Summer Reading Tails & Tales Program. Families completing the challenge will be notified by email and will receive a delicious chocolate lollipop making kit. They will also be entered into a raffle for a special surprise gift!

SUMMER READING CLUB 2021 Just a reminder that the last day to log minutes read is FRIDAY, AUGUST 13. Each participant who completes the required 420 minutes (1 hour per week) will receive their own 16 inch To Go Kit provided by FUN STUFF EXPRESS. The kit includes the animal, t-shirt, birth certificate, safe stuffing and comb for grooming your animal. A video link made exclusively for West Hempstead will accompany each kit.
