1. LETTER OPENER INTRODUCTION

1.1 General operation

The Letter Opener is a high speed milling cutter letter opener, capable of opening up to 30,000 envelopes per hour with a maximum thickness of 1/3” (8mm). The letter opener separates envelopes before cutting, for clean and consistent cutting. The Letter Opener stacks the envelopes on the Receiving Tray placed at the right end of the machine. The Letter Opener can be fed continuously with stacks of envelopes without having to stop the machine.

1.2 Packaging recommendations

Upon receival of your Letter Opener it is recommended that you keep the original packaging should the machine need to be mailed out for service. If packaging needs to be disposed of please follow local guidelines for recycling and waste disposal.

1.3 Operator’s Cleaning and Inspection

Always remember to unplug the power cord from the machine before cleaning. The operator should clean around the machine every day, including emptying chaff bin. The operator should clean the three black feed belts monthly. Clean the feed belts using a rag dampened with cleaning alcohol.

DO NOT CLEAN THE FLAT RED BELT

All other cleaning and maintenance should ONLY be done by an authorized service technician! Please contact your local dealer for assistance.

1.4 Setting Up

Before starting your letter opener make sure the chaff container is placed and securely seated underneath the right side of the machine. If not placed correctly there will be paper chaff on your table. Place the Receiving Tray at the right end of the machine, as seen in the Figure on the right. Place the Envelope Guide on the left hand end of the Feedplate.

1.5 Chaff Bin Safety Switch

Before starting your letter opener make sure the chaff container is placed and securely seated underneath the right side of the machine. There is a micro switch placed directly underneath the milling cutter that will shut off the machine if the chaff bin is not in all the way. You will hear a click when the chaff bin is in the correct position. The machine will not run without the chaff bin.

1.6 Start/Stop

Plug in the power cord. To turn the power on press down "l". To turn the power off press down "0". To start the machine press down "l" then press down the reset button.

2. FEATURES OF YOUR LETTER OPENER

2.1 Envelope Feeding

Envelopes are best fed when seperated. This involves shifting the mail around to insure your letter openener will feed consistently.

• Turn the envelope flaps so that they do not run in line with the separator or cutting mechanism.

• Fan the envelopes before placing them on the track. (this makes sure the envelopes are not stuck together).

• Press the reset button, and start the machine

2.2 Removing the Blue Track Cover

Shut off and unplug the machine before removing blue track cover.

To remove the blue track cover, first lift up the right side of the cover. Once you have the right side up, you can gently slide up the left side of the cover and pull it off.

2.3 Depth of Cut

The depth of cut is adjustable on the Letter Openers. The cutter is preset at the factory to the smallest cut possible, in order to keep the contents intact inside the envelope. In order to adjust the cutter you need to turn the Allen nut directly above the cutter. For best results turn the Allen nut counter-clockwise until the envelope is not cut then turn it back clockwise until the cutter begins to cut the envelope.

2.4 Using the Weight

• Place weight on top of envelopes

• Place it forward in the hopper

• Place it perpendicular to the flow of the envelopes

• Use weight as needed - which is usually for large envelopes

• As envelopes can be many things, have many shapes, stiffness, bulkiess etc.

2.5 Separation of Envelopes

The envelopes are pulled forward off the envelope guide by the flat feed belts and are separated by the brush system. The brush ensures that only one envelope is fed at a time.

2.6 Feed Brush System

The main function of the separation brush is to ensure that only one envelope passes through the cutter at a time.

Adjusting the Separation to desired height:

• Remove the blue track cover and locate the red Separation brush.

• Place an envelope beneath the brush.

• Loosen the Adjustment Knob until it becomes loose and let it come to rest on top of the envelope.

• You can now tighten the Adjustment Knob and remove the envelope.

3. TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

If the machine does not start do as follows:

1. Check that the power cord is plugged in and that the power is on.

2. Press the reset button.

3. Check that the BLUE track cover is pushed down tightly.

4. Make sure the chaff bin micro switch is activated.

5. Unplug machine and check fuse located in main socket, by pulling out on fuse tray.

If the machine still does not start contact your service center.

Remember to always place your chaff container underneath the bottom right corner of the machine to prevent small pieces of paper from going all over your table and the floor.

If an envelope becomes jammed in the machine:

1. Turn off machine, and unplug main socket.

2. Lift on Blue Cover by using fingerhole and lifting on ends.

3. Remove jammed envelopes and clear any remaining mail from belts.

4. Replace Blue Cover, re-stack mail on Envelope Guide

5. Plug in machine, restart.

1. GÉNÉRALITÉS

1.1 Fonctionnement général

L'ouvre-lettres est automatique utilisant un système d'ouverture par fraisage capable d'ouvrir jusqu'à 30 000 enveloppes à l'heure d'une épaisseur maximale de 8 mm.

Ce modèle sépare les enveloppes avant la coupe afin d'effectuer une découpe propre et régulière.

Les enveloppes sont ensuite empilées dans le bac de réception situé à l'extrémité droite de l'ouvre-lettres.

Il est possible d'alimenter cet ouvre-lettres en continu avec des piles d'enveloppes, sans arrêter la machine.

1.2 Recommandations concernant l’emballage

Il est recommandé de conserver l'emballage de l'ouvre-lettres après sa réception dans l'éventualité d'un renvoi pour réparation. Si vous devez jeter cet emballage, veillez à respecter la réglementation locale en matière de recyclage et de mise au rebus.

1.3 Nettoyage et inspection par l’opérateur

Veillez à toujours débrancher le cordon d'alimentation de la machine avant de procéder au nettoyage. Les abords de la machine doivent être nettoyés tous les jours, notamment le bac à découpes. Les courroies d'alimentation noires doivent être nettoyées tous les mois. Nettoyez les courroies d'alimentation à l'aide d'un chiffon humidifié avec de l'alcool de ménage.

NE PAS NETTOYER LA COURROIE PLATE ROUGE.

Les autres opérations de maintenance et de nettoyage doivent être effectuées UNIQUEMENT par un technicien agréé ! Veuillez contacter votre distributeur local pour plus d'informations.

1.4 Mise en route

Avant d'allumer votre ouvre-lettres, assurez-vous que le bac à découpes est stable et bien positionné sous la partie droite de la machine. Lorsque le bac est mal placé, des bandes découpées tombent sur la table. Placez le bac de réception à l'extrémité droite de la machine. Placez le guide enveloppes à gauche du plateau d'alimentation.

1.5 Capteur de sécurité pour le bac de découpes

Avant de mettre en marche votre ouvre lettres, vérifier que le bac à découpes est bien placé et solidement fixé au dessous de la machine. Un capteur placé sous le système de découpe déconnectera la machine si le bac de découpe n'est pas détecté. Vous entendrez un " clic " dès que celui-ci sera installé.

1.6 Démarrage/arrêt

Branchez le cordon d'alimentation. Pour mettre la machine sous tension, appuyez sur "l". Pour la mettre hors tension, appuyez sur "0". Pour démarrer la machine, appuyez sur "l", puis sur le bouton de réinitialisation.

2. GÉNÉRALITÉS

2.1 Alimentation en enveloppes

Préparez vos enveloppes avant de les positionner. Ventilez les enveloppes avant de les placer dans le guide enveloppes. Une fois le guide enveloppes correctement préparé, mettez la machine sous tension, appuyez sur le bouton de réinitialisation, puis démarrez la machine.

2.2 Enlèvement du capot bleu de protection

Arrêter et débrancher la machine avant d'ôter le capot de protection. Soulever d'abord le côté droit du capot. Une fois que le côté droit est en haut, vous pouvez doucement faire glisser vers le haut le côté gauche et retirer le capot.

2.3 Profondeur de coupe

Vous pouvez ajuster la profondeur de coupe de l'ouvre-lettres. La lame est préréglée en usine sur la profondeur de coupe la plus fine de manière à ne pas endommager le contenu des enveloppes. Pour régler la lame, vous devez tourner la vis située juste au-dessus de celle-ci à l'aide d'une clé Allen. Pour un réglage optimal, tournez la vis dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre jusqu'à ce que les enveloppes ne soient plus coupées. Ensuite, tournez la vis dans l'autre sens, jusqu'à ce que la lame commence à ouvrir les enveloppes.

2.4 Séparation des enveloppes

Les enveloppes placées dans le guide enveloppes sont tirées en avant par les courroies d'alimentation noires, puis séparées par des galets situés sous le capot bleu. Les galets de séparation permettent de ne faire passer qu'une seule enveloppe à la fois.

2.5 Utilisation du poids

• Placez le poids au-dessus de la pile d'enveloppes

• Le positionner vers l'avant du paquet

• Placez le poids perpendiculairement au sens de transport des enveloppes

• Placez le guide enveloppes en-dessous de la pile d'enveloppes, à l'extrémité de la dernière enveloppe de la pile

• Utilisez plus particulièrement le poids lorsque vous souhaitez ouvrir des enveloppes de grande taille

• Dans la mesure où les enveloppes peuvent avoir des formes ou des textures différentes, l'utilisation combinée du guide enveloppes et du poids vous permet d'optimiser l'ouverture des documents.

2.6 Système d'alimentation

La fonction principale de la brosse de séparation est d'assurer que seulement une enveloppe passe dans l'ouvre-lettres à la fois. Régler la séparation à la hauteur désirée :

• Oter le capot bleu pour accéder à la brosse de séparation rouge

• Placer une enveloppe sous la brosse.

• Desserrer la molette d'ajustement jusqu'à laisser un espace puis le serrer de nouveau jusqu'à toucher le haut de l'enveloppe.

• Vous pouvez maintenant serrer la molette d'ajustement et enlever l'enveloppe.

3. PROCÉDURES DE DÉPANNAGE

Si la machine ne démarre pas, procédez comme suit :

1. Vérifiez que le cordon d'alimentation est branché et que la machine est sous tension.

2. Appuyez sur la touche de réinitialisation.

3. Vérifiez que le capot bleu est positionné correctement.

4. Débranchez la machine et vérifiez les fusibles du circuit principal en tirant sur le compartiment à fusibles.

Si la machine ne démarre toujours pas, contactez votre service-après-vente.

Veillez à toujours replacer le bac à découpes sous l'angle droit de la machine afin que les petites bandes de papier ne s'éparpillent pas sur votre table et sur le sol.

Si une enveloppe se bloque dans la machine :

1. Mettez la machine hors tension et débranchez le cordon d'alimentation.

2. Relevez le capot bleu à l'aide de l'ouverture à gauche et en soulevant à droite.

3. Retirez les enveloppes coincées et les autres courriers situés sur les courroies.

4. Replacez le capot bleu et repositionnez le courrier sur le guide enveloppes.

5. Branchez et redémarrez la machine.

REMARQUE :

Les autres interventions et réparations doivent être effectuées par votre distributeur local.

1. INLEIDING BRIEFOPENER

1.1 Algemene informatie

Deze briefopener freest uw enveloppen open met een snelheid tot 30.000 enveloppen per uur met een maximale dikte van 8 mm (1/3” ). Deze machine separeert de enveloppen voor opening, voor een scherpe en gelijkmatige opening. De enveloppen worden gestapeld uitgevoerd in de opvangbak aan de rechterkant van de machine. De briefopener kan continu aangevuld worden bij het invoeren zonder de machine daarvoor stil te zetten.

1.2 Verpakking (Aanbeveling)

Het is aan te bevelen om de originele verpakking te bewaren voor het geval dat u de machine voor reparatie of onderhoud voor verzending aan moet bieden. Indien u de verpakking weggooit, volgt u dan de richtlijnen voor recycling en afvalverwijdering.

1.3 Gebruikersonderhoud

Altijd eerst de elektriciteitskabel uit uw machine, stroom eraf voordat u de machine schoonmaakt. Het is aan te bevelen dat de gebruiker, voordat hij/zij de machine gebruikt, om en bij de machine schoonmaakt en de afvalbak leegt. De twee zwarte transportbanden moeten ca. 2x per maand met een alcoholdoekje gereinigd worden.

NIET DE RODE PLATTE BAND SCHOONMAKEN!

Alle andere onderhoud en schoonmaak mag ALLEEN uitgevoerd worden door een hiervoor opgeleide technische inspecteur. Hiervoor kunt u contact opnemen met uw leverancier.

1.4 In gebruik name

Voordat u begint te werken met uw briefopener, controleer of de afvalbak goed en stevig geplaatst is onder aan de rechter kant van de machine. Indien niet correct geplaatst, zal afval op uw tafel achterblijven. Plaats ook de enveloppeninvoer op de linkerkant van de machine.

1.5 Veiligheidsschakelaar van de afvalbak

Controleer voordat u de brievenopener start of de afvalbak goed geplaatst is onder de rechterzijde van de machine. Een veiligheidsschakelaar onder de frees zal de machine uitschakelen indien de afvalbak niet goed tegen de schakelaar geplaatst is. Zodra de afvalbak goed geplaatst is hoort u een klik. Zonder de afvalbak kan de machine niet draaien.

1.6 Start/Stop

Doe nu de stroomstekker in uw machine. Om de machine aan te zetten, druk bij de AAN/UIT knop op positie “l” en druk dan op de reset knop.

Om de machine uit te zetten, drukt u de knop op positie “0”.

2. KENMERKEN VAN UW BRIEFOPENER

2.1 Envelop invoer

Sorteer de enveloppen voordat u ze invoert. Voor het beste resultaat; zorg dat de enveloppenflap gevouwen is zodat ze niet tegen de separator of tegen het snijmechanisme aanlopen. Waaier de enveloppen voordat u deze plaatst in de enveloppeninvoer. Als u de enveloppeninvoer goed heeft ingesteld, kunt u de stapel enveloppen plaatsen, de machine op ‘‘I‘‘ zetten en op de resetknop drukken.

2.2 Verwijderen van de blauwe beschermingskap

Schakel eerst machine uit en haal de elektriciteitskabel uit de machine. Om de beschermingskap te verwijderen tilt u eerst de rechterkant van de kap op. Zodra de rechterkant omhoog gericht staat, kunt u de linkerkant van de kap omhoogschuiven en de kap verwijderen.

2.3 Snijdiepte

De diepte van de snee is ook in te stellen. In de fabriek is deze zo ingesteld dat de kleinst mogelijke snee gemaakt wordt om te zorgen dat de inhoud onbeschadigd blijft. Om deze aan te passen kunt u de inbusschroef net boven het snijmechanisme draaien. Voor het beste resultaat draait u de schroef tegen de klok in totdat de envelop niet meer geopend wordt en kloksgewijs totdat er weer geopend wordt.

2.4 Gebruik van het gewicht

• Leg het gewicht bovenop de enveloppen.

• Plaats het gewicht aan de toevoer kant van de Enveloppeninvoer.

• Plaats het gewicht loodrecht op de bewegingsrichting van de enveloppen.

• Gebruik het gewicht alleen indien noodzakelijk voor een goede envelop toevoer, in de meeste gevallen bij het gebruik van grote enveloppen.

2.5 Separatie van de Enveloppen

De enveloppen worden naar voren getrokken vanuit de enveloppeninvoer door de zwarte invoerbanden en worden uit elkaar gehaald door de separatievinger onder de blauwe beschermingskap. De separatievinger zorgt dat de enveloppen één voor één worden geopend.

2.6 Separatieborstel instelling

De separatieborstel zorgt ervoor dat de enveloppen één voor één langs het snijmes gaan. Voer de volgende stappen uit om de separatieborstel hoogte in te stellen:

• Verwijder de blauwe beschermingskap.

• Draai de instelknop van de rode borstelhouder los.

• Plaats een envelop onder de borstel.

• Laat de rode borstelhouder zakken totdat deze vrij op de envelop rust.

• Draai de instelknop van de rode borstelhouder weer vast en verwijder de envelop.

3. PROBLEEM OPLOSSEN

De machine start niet :

• Controleer of uw elektriciteitskabel goed in de machine en in het stopcontact zit en of de aan/uitknop op aan staat.

• Druk op de resetknop.

• Controleer of de afvalbak goed geplaatst is tegen de schakelaar.

• Controleer of de blauwe kap goed dicht is.

• Controleer de zekering en vervang deze indien nodig.

Als de machine het nog steeds niet doet, neem contact op met uw leverancier.

Vergeet niet de afvalbak altijd onder de machine aan de rechterkant te plaatsen om te voorkomen dat afval op uw tafel en vloer terechtkomt.

Wanneer een envelop vastloopt in de machine:

• Zet de machine uit en haal de stroomstekker uit het stopcontact.

• Doe de blauwe klep omhoog met gebruik van de vingergaten en til de klep omhoog.

• Haal de vastgelopen envelop er uit en verwijder enige afvalresten die achter zijn gebleven op de zwarte banden.

• Doe de blauwe klep weer dicht en stapel uw enveloppen in de enveloppeninvoer.

• Zet de stroomstekker weer in het stopcontact en start de machine.

WAARSCHUWING:

Alle andere onderhoud en reparaties mogen alleen uitgevoerd worden door een daarvoor opgeleide technische inspecteur, neem daarvoor contact op met uw leverancier.!!!
