My dear Immanuel Family,

Greetings to in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Fourth of July is an important day in the history of the USA because we are celebrating the official declaration of independence on July 04, 1776 from Great Britain. Freedom, Liberty, and Unity are the core values of independence.

Christian freedom is experienced fully when it is exercised responsibly, and with Chris-tian serving. St. Augustine, a prominent Church Father, through his writings has said that “true freedom is not a choice or lack of constraint, but being what you are meant to be. We, as humanity, were created in the image of God. Therefore, true freedom is not found in moving away from that image but only in living it out. The closer we conform to the true image of God, Jesus Christ, the freer we become. The farther we drift from it, the more our freedom shrinks. “Let us walk closer to God and experience true freedom.

Church, commemorate St. Thomas Day on July 03. When Apostle Thomas saw the Risen Lord, he uttered, “My Lord and my God!” That encounter with the Risen Lord changed Apostle Thomas forever. His encounter with Jesus unlocked his God-given freedom. Not bound by the fet-ters of doubt and unbelief, he was no longer a doubting Thomas. He was instead an evangelizing Thomas who proclaimed the Gospel far and wide and bore witness to the Crucified and Risen Lord by his own death, his martyrdom.

The theme for the first Sunday of July is “Giving without counting the cost,” and that Sunday is set apart for the Tithe offering. Let me try to answer our common questions about Tithe.

What is Tithe? The Tithe is a biblical word that means “a tenth part” The Tithe was an offering of one’s agricultural income to the Lord as an expression of thanks and dedication.

Why should we give the Tithe? Because God commanded it. (Lev.27:30, Deu.14:22, Mal.3:8-12, Matt.23:23). The main principle behind tithing and giving is the fact that what we do with our money shows where our heart is. Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Tithing is the matter of the heart. It demonstrates that God has first place in my life. (Deu.14:23). Tithing always reminds us that everything we have is given to us by God. Tithing is an expression of our love and total commitment to the Lord (Deu.16:17).

We, as the Immanuel family set apart a day, July 19, for fasting and prayer. Fasting is a spiritual discipline that taught in the Bible (Matt.6:16-18). Moses fasted before he received the Ten Commandments (Ex.34:28), The Israelites fasted before a miraculous victory (2Chr.20:2-3), Daniel



fasted in order to receive guidance from God (Dan.9:3), Nehemiah fasted before beginning a major Building project (Neh.1:4), Ester fasted for the liberation of her people, Jesus fasted before starting His ministry, The early Church fasted before the major decision making (Acts.13:2-3). Fasting is not “earning” an answer to prayer. God cannot be blackmailed by human effort. God will answer our prayers out of Grace. Fasting prepares us for God’s answer. The Prophet Joel reminds us “Declare a Holy Fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the Land to the House of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.” (Joel.1:14). I humbly request everyone to participate in the day of prayer.

The general body met on June 30 took a significant decision regarding the Jubilee build-ing project. The Jubilee building project consists of a Parsonage, Recreation center and a Jubilee hall with office room, guest room, HOPE room, and an ample number of restrooms. I humbly re-quest everyone’s prayerful participation in this project. If we have a strong determination, we can quickly achieve it within a year. An old man, who was preparing for mountaineering was asked, “do you think you can make it at this age.” The old man replied, “Yes, my mind is already up there, now only the question of reaching my body there.” When you are determined with God, no one can defeat you. Dedication with continuity and consistency is essential. Remember, relaxation without realization is always dangerous. 100% dedication is needed to reach the desired destination.

We have VBS and School of Gamaliel on July 12th and 13th. VBS brings energy to our church in a way nothing else can. It’s fun for kids, and it’s great for families. It brings Children closer to God and create outreach to the surrounding communities. VBS is a special event that creates memories that help lock Bible truths in our children’s hearts and minds for a lifetime. This year teaming with Stafford School, we are providing backpacks filled with supplies, “Operation Backpack”. I appreciate all those who have donated for this noble cause.Yuvajanasakhyam is conducting a blood drive on July 12 from 9.00 AM to 3.00 PM. The reason to donate our blood is simple…it helps save lives. Let us actively participate in all the activities of our church in true Christian spirit.

Let us be united and work for the kingdom of God.

May the Lord of wisdom give us the best in all the days of our lives.

Please Pray and support these projects. For the development and nourishment of younger generation based on the Christian values, they started a tuition centers in various villages. Now, they have 28 centers. More than 700 students are studying. Teachers are getting only low wages for their service (for one teacher: Rs. 2,000/- per month). For these students, they are



arranging three Days Camp and VBS in their respective villages. During the time of school opening, they are providing School Kit to all students both believers and for tuition students. So, our humble request to the Immanuel family to sponsor either one teacher (Rs.2,000/-) per month. Or Rs.500/- per child for their school kit. September 6th - 8th Edavaka mission is planning for a camp retreat on September 6th to 8th, 2019 at Crier Creek camp (Pine Cove Christian retreat canter), Columbus, which is one hour fifteen minutes away from Houston. JUBILEE PROGRAMINTER- PRAYER GROUP BIBLE QUIZ & SPELLING BEE COMPETITIONAs the part of Jubilee celebration, we are planning to have an inter-prayer group bible Quiz competition and Spelling Bee competition on August 17, Saturday at 2pm onwards.

BIBLE QUIZ: Bible Portion for the Quiz is St.John’s Gospel (21 chaptors). Bibles rec-ommended to study, NIV in English and Malayalam Bible published by Bible society of India.Each team will write the answer.Gadgets, Bibles and other books are not allowed to use during the Quiz.The Vicar and the assistant Vicar will give the final decision if warranted.

SPELLING BEE will be for Sunday School students.

RULES FOR SPELLING BEE 2019

1. The participant will have to be a member of Immanuel Mar Thoma church.

2. The deadline to register is June 31, 2019.

3. Spellings will be selected from the NIV version.

4. Participants have to arrive at church by 13:30.

5. Participants will receive 40 seconds per word.

6. Participants will receive one clue for each word.



7. Elimination will begin from the first misspelled word.

8. Spelling bee will be conducted in two divisions

•1st - 4th grade - spelling bee will be conducted from the first three gospels Mathew, Mark and Luke.

• 5th - 12th grade - spelling bee will be conducted from the first three gos pels Mathew, Mark , Luke and 1st Chronicles.

9. The grades will remain the same as it was in Sunday school this past year.
