Praise be to GodBeloved brothers and sisters,Greetings in the name of our Lord and God Jesus Christ.

“Jesus is risen.”“Yes, He is risen, indeed.”

This used to be the greeting words of the early Christians when they met each other. Resurrection was so real to them. Resurrected Christ was so near and dear to them. It must be so in our Christian life. This is the season of resurrection according to the worship calen-dar. The nature also reflects resurrection and life through spring sea-son. We see flowers, new leaves and buds sprouting everywhere. Let that spirit and newness liven up our life too through Jesus Christ who is the epitome – in the words of St. Paul first fruit/ first born (1 Cor. 15: 20- 23) - of resurrection and new life.

Pandemic is also the reality of time. There is illness and death ev-erywhere around us. The new normal invites us to live differently and change our perception of life. Life prior to pandemic was celebration and enjoyment outside our homes and workplaces. We used to go for parties, meetings, get together, shopping, and tour and so on. Now all these have been changed. To be at home is life. So, let us make our homes livelier. Let our homes become alters. Let our relationship be more life giving. Let our homes be a place of happiness, peace, love and service. Let us serve each other. Remember the words of our God and Lord; “not to be served but to serve” (St. Mark 10: 45). Let it be our attitude in homes so that no one may feel dejected, inferior or ne-glected but each one serving each one.

Our life and the situation in general appear to be gloomy. But it actu-ally demands to deepen our faith in Christ Jesus, our Lord and God. Resurrected God is our hope and the way. Challenges of life can be faced and overcome with Christ who defeated death and gave us vic-tory. Trusting Him more deeply, loving Him more dearly and walking with Him more nearly fill us with strength undefeatable in all circum-stances. As St. Paul says:

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor death, nor anything in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8: 38-39).

Love of God is the strength which gives us power to withstand and transform every situation of fear into joy, darkness into light, death into life.

I am thankful to Rev. Abraham Varghese and family and Rev. Saji Albi and family for their graceful service in the Immanuel Mar Thoma Parish, Houston. Let us pray for their fruitful ministry in the new par-ishes assigned to them. Hopefully looking forward to seeing you all and serve the Lord with you. Pray for us. We uphold all of you in our prayers.

May God bless us all.

Mrs. Susamma George 93 years old, mother of Mrs. Leelamma Varghese ID# 467 of Tabor prayer group was called to eternal rest. Funeral was held in Kerala.

Immanuel is a great church and a witnessing community. On behalf of our Immanuel Family, I want to take a moment to extend a very warm welcome to our new Vicar Rev. Eappen Varghese, Neena Kochamma and their children Rebecca, Ephrayim, and Hanok.

Achen is not only a wonderful Parish Priest but also a brilliant educator, he worked as a Principal at St. Johns School, Greater Kailash, New Delhi, India.

Achen, we pray that our gracious and loving God, makes you the instruments of his divine grace. May you be able to lead and guide us and set our souls on fire with the love, grace and word of God. Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our our new Vicar Rev. Eappen Varghese. Through him, may we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Achen, as you are travelling to Houston we all are fully aware of the COVID situation becoming worse in India but we all here at our Immanuel Family have been constantly praying. May the love, faith-fulness, goodness, mercy and protection of our Lord surround you all while you travel.
