After reading a story or short newspaper article with your child, have your child describe the setting with as much detail as possible. Have your child read these words: adventure, climbed, clubhouse, exploring, greatest, truest, wondered. Use the words to act out a scene in a pretend children’s clubhouse. Have your child write the following spelling words: backtrack, clang, cough, duckling, enough, graph, laugh, phone, photo, rough, ticket, tough. Have your child underline the letter or letters in each word that stand for the /f/ sound. This week your child learned about character and setting.
