Established Principal Contractor Maxi Construction, established in May 1971, operates as a Principal Contractor throughout central and southern Scotland. Working in all market sectors we have experience of delivering new build, extension, alteration, refurbishment and fit-out projects.
Part of The Maxi Group We are part of the Irvine-based Maxi Group of Companies which also includes Maxi Haulage and Maxi Warehousing.
Financially Stable With no borrowing, substantial reserves and a strong bank balance we have the financial strength and resources to meet our Clients’ requirements and are in a strong position to expand to accommodate additional capacity.
We are a Competent Contractor Our Integrated Management System is certified by BM Trada as meeting the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and (BS) OHSAS 18001:2007 Health & Safety Management System. COMMUNITY
Craigsfarm Community Hub Livingston Partial demolition of an existing building and construction of a 592m2 single storey building providing reception, offices, meeting rooms, multi-purpose halls, kitchen, café and toilet facilities.
Maxi Construction has wide-ranging experience in the provision of community facilities including arts venues, libraries, community centres and visitors centres.
Kelpies Visitors Centre Falkirk Construction of a 450m2 visitor centre, within a busy public park, providing an interactive visitor experience area, restaurant, shop, toilet facilities and an office.
Botanic Cottage Edinburgh Reconstruction of a 2-storey historic stone cottage using some salvaged materials from the original 1764 Georgian building designed by architects John Adam and James Craig.
With the addition of 2 single storey wings the building provides 340m2 of space and includes teaching areas, a lecture room, potting shed, kitchen, office and toilet facilities.

HISTORIC BUILDINGS & CONSERVATION
Linlithgow Partnership Centre Internal alterations, refurbishment and fit-out of the Grade B listed County Buildings to provide a hub for local community services including a library, Customer Information Services (CIS), registrar, Police Scotland and local authority office accommodation.
Maxi Construction has delivered various repair, refurbishment, extension and redevelopment works to listed and traditional buildings.
Panmure House Edinburgh This Grade A listed building and former residence of economist Adam Smith has been sympathetically refurbished and reconfigured to provide accommodation for lectures, performances and seminars, including a Reading Room, Lecture Room, offices, kitchen and toilet facilities and an office.
Glasgow Women’s Library Refurbishment and redevelopment works to a partially occupied Grade B listed library building to provide an informal reading area with open plan mezzanine area, a tea bar, meeting areas, display/exhibition space, an archive room and storage area. Externally, a feature artwork lift shaft provides access to the first floor of the building.

EDUCATION
Accessibility Works Ashworth Laboratories Accessibility improvement works to the Grade B listed operational Ashworth Laboratories building, situated within the University of Edinburgh’s Kings Buildings campus.
Maxi Construction has extensive experience in the construction, extension and refurbishment of education facilities including schools and universities. Most projects are undertaken whilst the facility remains operational requiring a high degree of planning and control in relation to health & safety and environmental factors.
Alterations & Extension to Alva Primary School Reconfiguration works included the design and construction of a single storey extension to the operational primary school together with internal alterations.
Social Space Refurbishment Alteration and refurbishment works to part of an operational Grade B listed University of Edinburgh teaching building to create student social space.
The refurbishment featured natural white oak timber finishes, a high resolution large scale digital wall covering, large scale glazed doors, a quiet study room, tea prep area, a 22m² preserved Nordik moss wall and the replacement of Georgian wired roof lights with rain sensing, automatic opening sky lights and passive vents.

INDUSTRIAL
Warehouse Alterations & Extension Warwick Alterations and extension of 2000m2 warehouse creating 300m2 of offices over 2 floors, a 43m clear span canopy for offloading articulated vehicles and a new concrete yard. The project was delivered in 2 phases with the facility being operational on a 24-hour basis.
Maxi Construction has an established track-record in the provision of industrial facilities, including design, construction, refurbishment and alteration works to existing premises.
Local Authority Depot Livingston External and internal alterations and fit-out of a former manufacturing facility to provide depot accommodation including office, industrial and storage space for various departments including Building Services, Archives, Records Management & Museums and a Community Inclusion workshop.
Business Units Prestonpans Design and construction of 7 new business units for East Lothian Council providing 590m2 of warehouse and office facilities.
The steel-frame buildings feature facing brickwork, Kingspan insulated wall and roof cladding. External works included access roads, car parking and hard and soft landscaping.

OFFICE
Administration & Welfare Block Ayr Construction of an 844m2 2-storey building, within an operational local authority cleansing depot, to provide office space, meeting rooms, training suite, mess room, locker room, storage and toilet and shower facilities.
Maxi Construction has successfully delivered numerous office projects including office developments, office fit-outs, alterations and refurbishments. A number of these projects have involved phased handovers to allow areas of the building to remain operational whilst alteration and refurbishment works are undertaken.
Head Office Grangemouth The construction of a single-storey office building, providing 733m2 of space, within the Client’s secure operational site.
Arrochar House Fit-out Livingston Phased alteration and fit-out works to part of an existing 2-storey office building, within Livingston town centre, to provide approximately 1600m2 of upgraded office accommodation.

REFURBISHMENT & FIT-OUT
Relocation of SRS Department Edinburgh Extension, alterations and fit-out works to an existing disused Boiler House within an operational Category B listed university facility to form office accommodation for the Social Responsibility and Sustainability Department.
Maxi Construction is an established refurbishment and fit out contractor. Projects range from the complete external and internal refurbishment of entire buildings to partial alteration/upgrading works and fit-out contracts.
Carronbank House Fit-out Denny Phased reconfiguration and fit-out works to part of an operational multi-occupant building (NHS and local authority) to form an information hub providing reception area, office accommodation and meeting rooms.
Strathbrock Partnership Centre Broxburn Phased alteration and fit-out works to part of an operational community facility to provide local authority office accommodation and a public library.

RETAIL
St Catherine’s Retail Park Perth Demolition of an existing unit and the construction of a new building providing over 4,500m2 of space, sub-divided into 5 retail units, within an operational retail park.
Maxi Construction has successfully delivered a wide variety of retail projects ranging from new build retail developments, alterations and refurbishment works to operational retail units and alteration and fit-out works within retail centres.
Almondvale West Retail Park Livingston Reconfiguration and alteration of Unit 1A, over-cladding existing facades of Units 2-5, internal subdivision of Unit 3 and associated external works, within a live retail park.
Retail Unit Kingsway West Dundee Construction of a retail unit, within a live retail park, providing ground floor space of 1254m2 and a 697m2 mezzanine level.

SPORTS & LEISURE
Indoor Running Track Grangemouth Alteration and fit-out works to part of an operational stadium building to provide a replacement indoor running track and upgraded changing accommodation.
Maxi Construction has wide-ranging experience in the provision of sports and leisure facilities. This includes the construction, extension and refurbishment of sports centres, swimming pools, clubhouses, community halls and pavilions.
Sports Pavilion Ormiston Design and construction of a new sports pavilion together with the demolition of the existing pavilion and associated hard and soft landscaping.
Alterations to Time Capsule Coatbridge Refurbishment and fit-out of 3 levels of the existing dry sports area to provide upgraded fitness facilities including gym, dance studios, soft play area, café and reception area.
