Theme for July 2019 - Make a joyful noise unto the Lord Sometime back I read an article in which NASA described how each planet & star in theUniverse emits its own unique radio signals – their own distinctive signature tune. Eachcreature has its own characteristic call. The Universe continuously sings to its Creator. AndMan has been given the privilege of joining with all Creation in making a joyful noise in praiseof God’s Glory. I once had the privilege of joining in a worship service attended by people from around theworld. Spanish, German, Russian, French, and many more languages cascaded & clashedas we as sang ‘How great Thou art!’ in our native languages. Our song exploded with joy, aspraise rose deep from our souls. Language and race could not divide us: we were theRedeemed of the Lord. United through His Spirit, crowned with His joy, enjoying the bliss ofHis presence, we raised a Hallelujah to our Father, Redeemer & King. A foretaste of heaven, where the Redeemed from every tribe, tongue & nation will join insinging, “O Lord, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because You createdall things, and for Your pleasure they are and were created.” Rev 4:11- Alice Dawson A joyful noise, one that swells with pleasure and delight is easily a reaction during goodtimes. When counting these good times or moments, you may find most to be associated withmemories of accomplishments, days of happiness and moments of gladness. While it is very easy to be gladdened by the occurrence of something favourable or good, thePsalmist does not recommend making a joyful noise unto the Lord only when you are in aplace of happiness. A continual spirit of joy navigates away from the road of suffering andnarrows down on the final result of what God is doing in your life. It’s possible that your delayed train isn't departing from the station because someone'spraying to reach in time to board it. The flight you missed and are complaining about may nothave contributed to a comfortable journey. The heavy rain you're praying against may not bestopping in order to prevent drought in certain areas. Making a joyful noise isn't as difficult as it seems. It's just a matter of focusing on the unseen, the bigger plans God has, and asking God to help calm your spirit and help you experiencejoy irrespective of the circumstances So, make a joyful noise unto the Lord and don’t stop till the walls of your Jericho comecrumbling down!- Donna Dei Peris

July Announcements

Solitude is a choice; loneliness is not.  Solitude discourages company; lonelinessdesperately seeks it.  And solitude was what HE chose.  The venue was the garden--thick brushes, tall trees, and Morning Glories shut down for the night.  The subduedhues of the moon dancing off the undulating slopes of hillocks created a perfectenvironment for prayer and solitude--one last questioning cry, one anguishedsoliloquy from Son to Father, encapsulated in one poignant question: “Is this Yourwill?”   Bloody sweat drops, angelic attendance and snoring friends were the visible props ofthis pre-crucifixion drama. But what captured my attention was a word we don’t hearoften enough: “nevertheless.”  The old King James Version uses the word in Luke 22:42“Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine,be done” (italics mine). Nevertheless. Never, never the less.  No word sufficiently captures the intensity and gravity of the decision Jesus waswrestling with, than the word “nevertheless.”  And broken down into three, the wordadds further meaning—never-the-less.  Our wills can only be less than the Father’s,and Jesus knew it.  That’s why He said in the Greek: “…but not the will of me but of yoube done.”  The greater will, not the lesser, must triumph—and it did!  And history wasmade, salvation was offered and the gap between God and man bridged forever. Nevertheless! Half the year has sped away, and 2019 is gathering speed.  For me, for you, life goes onand it’s business as usual.  The sun is up, the Morning Glories bloom and decisions areeasy to make.  But every now and then they come, those hard, unrelenting situationsthat force painful rumination and agonizing reflection, forcing us to choose thoseplaces of solitude that would help us shut out the incessant clamour of dissonant voicesand the slumbering sounds of well-meaning friends; times when we are called to makethe right decision, however difficult, however painful. And my prayer, my hope for youis that you will make the right choice and that those choices will never be for the “less,”but always, always for the “more.” May His will be done,Pastor
