Wednesday 25th September 2019 PRINCIPAL GREEN’S PARAGRAPHS It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that we were welcoming you all to Term 3 and here we are at the end. Regional Athletics - In Week 8 Zofia represented Ambarvale Public School and the Campbelltown Zone at the Regional Athletics Carnival. Zofia did an amazing job and displayed the Ambarvale All Star attitude making it to the final of the 8 years 100m sprint. Congratulations Zofia! Swim Scheme - Swim scheme has been running over the past week and is continuing for the remainder of this week. This has required a significant amount of organisation. I would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Goddard for making this possible for our students. She has coordinated the entire experience as well as supporting throughout the lessons by getting into the pool each day to ensure our students are walking away from these two weeks with effective swimming skills. Our bus drivers have also played an extremely important role in supporting swim scheme. Thank you Mr Nicholls and Mrs Jones for being our bus drivers.

Holiday Time! - Spring is here, holidays are almost here and there is a special feeling in the air. I would like to wish everybody an enjoyable and safe holiday period. Safety is an important element throughout any holiday period where it is extremely important that children are wearing their helmets when riding around the streets. Please remind your child/children to look both ways before crossing the road and not to talk to strangers. Holidays are also the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with your family and friends. Have an amazing holiday. Until next time, Mrs K Green

• showing commitment and hard work. • being able to bear difficulties calmly. • trying again and again.
Give it a go, you never know what success will grow! PBL REWARD DAY We are cheering in excitement because it’s time to celebrate PBL Reward Day! STAGE 3 CAMP Stage 3 students are invited to attend a two night camp at the Great Aussie Bush Camp in Kincumber on the Central Coast for an educational experience. Dates: Term 4, Week 4, Monday 4th November (drop off at 7:45am) – Wednesday 6th November (pick up 3:00pm) Cost: $280. This includes three days and 2 nights accommodation, meals, activities and bus to and from the venue. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs Corner or the office. We look forward to this exciting event with our Stage 3 students. PUBLIC SPEAKING Aurora, Corbin, Zachary and Aitor represented our school at the Public Speaking Network Finals this week. These students competed against schools in our community by presenting both a prepared and impromptu speech. As a result of their strong commitment and hard work, all students were outstanding participants. They have made Ambarvale PS so proud and are to be complimented on their amazing achievement. A special congratulations to Corbin (Stage 1) and Aitor (Stage 3) who were acknowledged as Highly Commended!
STAGE 1 EXCURSION On the 10th of September 2019, Stage 1 had their excursion to Mount Annan Botanic Gardens. Students were involved in hands-on learning experiences as they tasted a variety of bush tucker whilst exploring The Fruit Loop Garden. The teachers can vouch that many sour faces were endured after tasting native lime! As part of the day, students learnt about Aboriginal corroboree and participated in a similar experience by using body percussion, clap sticks and their voice to create songs, stories and dance. What a joy it was to watch their little minds, hands and feet hard at work! Prior to the excursion, students undertook studies in class to learn about the marvellous existence of bees and their importance to our survival. As we embarked on a tour of the garden, students were able to quickly spot the bees and form connections with the processes of pollination and nectar. It was excellent to witness them transferring their learning outside the classroom! Now, we can’t conclude our experience without mentioning the scenic views of the lake and the rolling hills of greenery. Such a beautiful sight to see and in the crisp air, Stage 1 had a great time producing landscape drawings. We extend a massive thank you to our on-site educators and teachers who participated in the organisation of this event. All Stage 1 attendees, a big well done to you too for being amazing Ambarvale All Stars!
