Monday

Complete a book review for Mrs Cornelius and

your classroom next year. See attached

document.

Tuesday

Look at the picture below. Discuss what you can

see. What do you think could be happening in

this picture?

Read the story starter and then answer the

questions. These are mostly opinion based so

there is not right or wrong. Be creative with your

answers!

Wednesday

Make a list of nouns that you can see in the picture. E.g. Eyes, fins, ocean.

Now make a list adjectives to describe each of your nouns.

Use Collins online thesaurus (or your own thesaurus) to improve and uplevel your adjectives. Would all of the possibly synonyms be appropriate? Do they all make sense? Which one is best for what you are trying to describe?

Thursday

Use your description from yesterday and your

ideas from Tuesday to write a paragraph

describing the fish.

Friday

Edit your work. Use the write craft sheet to help

edit and up level your work.

OR

Write a diary entry as if you were the fish about

a journey through the sea. What might you do?

What might you see? How would you feel?

Monday Practice spelling following words using a technique of their choice: disappear, grammar, occasionally, possible, suppose.

Tuesday Use the same spellings as yesterday and write

them using rainbow write or a technique of your

choice.

Wednesday Practise spelling their spellings forwards backwards. Write the word forwards then write the words backwards, e.g. forwards sdrawrof

Thursday Practise using the look, say, cover, write, check method.

Friday Test your child on the 5 words they have been practising. Ask them to send me their score or a photo of the test via dojo. I’d love to see how they got on.

Learning Project – The Deep Sea

Topic – The Deep Sea: The bottom layer of the ocean is called the abyss and is home to some very strange and unusual

creatures. I would like you to research some of these creatures using these websites:

I would like you to choose a sea creature which uses bioluminescence (like the anglerfish) and create a poster fact sheet about it, including, where you would find the animal, what bioluminescence is and how their chosen sea creature uses it. Let’s Create: Artwork to Light up Your Life- Following on from what you have learned about bioluminescence, I would like you to create some bioluminescent sea creature inspired artwork. Based on the resources you have available at home, you could create a drawing or a model. Make sure you use bright colours and to be as realistic as possible. Music:

Let’s get Cooking: If you have or are able to get the ingredients, why not bake some yummy treats. Encourage your child to do this as independently as possible as it will support them in reading and following instructions, measuring ingredients accurately and read scales.

The majestic creature glided gracefully through the perfect, azure waters. Its size and beautiful colours stood out in stark contrast to the murky, grey ocean floor beneath.

Many other creatures that dwelt under the sea looked on with envy at the unusual and startlingly bright colours that its appearance possessed…
