Subject EXTENDED PROJECT
This year I will be .
Identifying, designing, planning and completing an
individualproject, applying organisational skills and standards
to
meet stated objectives.
Obtaining and selecting information from a range of
sources and analysing data.
Selecting and using a range of skills, including new
technologies where appropriate, to solve problems, to take
decisions critically, creatively and flexibly to achieve
planned outcomes.
Evaluate outcomes including own learning and performance
and select and use a range of communication skills and
media to convey and present evidenced outcomes
andconclusions.
My coursework / exam will look like.
Choice and initial planning Choose a topic
Consider a range of possibilities.
Do some preliminary investigation into the feasibility of
the
project.
Project approval Project is proposed to my supervisor.
A declaration is signed that I am aware that all work must be
my
own, unless appropriate reference and acknowledgement is made.
The project is accepted by my supervisor.
Details are amended after discussion with my supervisor.
When my supervisor confident that my proposal meets all the
requirements a form is signed to say they are willing to
supervise.
No part of this award is to be used for another accredited
award.
The centre coordinator gives final approval; they may make
comments and suggestions that will be recorded as part of my
production log.

If the centre coordinator adds additional requirements they
must
be met and my supervisor should ensure that they are
understood
and complied with.
Resources and research With discussion and guidance I will make
necessary initial plans and
commence with my project.
I will include background research
Develop new skills.
Mid project review Having thoroughly explored my chosen area and
begun to shape
my final project/product I will meet with my supervisor for
a
project review.
The aims and objectives should be clarified and agreed. Evidence
of skills used along the way should be kept for the
final review.
A time will be set for the final submission and the date and
format of the presentation agreed.
Production I will then complete my final product/project
with
accompanying written report.
All evidence will be submitted and stored securely until it
is
sent to the moderator.
Review I should then complete a review of my project which
should be an
evaluation of the project measured against the aims and
objectives
agreed at mid point review.
Presentation On completion of my project I am required to give a
presentation.
This may take the form of any of the following.
A viva interview by my supervisor and accompanying member of
staff
A full conference presentation to large numbers with
accompanying
multimedia
A two hour poster session
Accompanying an exhibition stand
I need to prepare for a general non-specialist audience.
I should use technical vocabulary
I should be ready to explain to any non-specialist

My responses to questions will be recorded, in note form, by
my supervisor.
My answers must demonstrate live the depth of knowledge
and understanding of my project and the process.
