Term 2 21st June 2017 Learning for the future Ahuwhenua – Manaakitia – Manamotuhake – Manawanui - Hiranga Kia ora, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Kia orana, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Malo ni, Bula, Greetings… Week 8 and the end of the term is fast approaching! Home and School Skip–A–Thon Ropes are out and skipping is all on!! Our big jump off day is Friday 30 th June!! We do hope you can support this school fundraiser. The school is always humbled by your generosity, but as this is an A-Thon then please, a $2.00 sponsorship from parents, caregivers, grandparents, aunts, uncles and neighbours could soon bring that goal of $10.00 or more!! Money that is intended in good faith can come in prior to the Skip-A-Thon. Once again on behalf of the Home and School, we want to thank you all for helping make Kamo Primary a great school!! Home and School Twilight Gala This year the Twilight Gala will be held on Friday 3 rd November. The Home and School team will need parent/ whanau support and therefore will be forming rosters for support. So please put that date in your diary and next term the Home and School will be compiling a list of tasks needing support. They need your support! Kamo Primary School Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees would like to inform you that Gerald Kairau has been co-opted to the board due to the vacancy that arose. We welcome Gerald and know he has much to offer the board, as well as represenTng the parent community. NaConal Standards Mid-Year Reports The last week of term will see reports go home for students in Years 4 to 6. Most Year 1 to 3 students will have received or will be about to receive an anniversary report. As stated in the Ttle, it is a Mid-Year Report which means your child is aiming to achieve the desired at or above standard by the end of the year. The suggested comments by teachers are intended for parents to support this future success. Please, if you need any clarificaTon on your child’s report, do not hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher. Early in Term 3 teachers will approach parents of students who need extra support to ensure suggesTons in reports are understood. Please note, if you ever need or want to see your child’s teacher please pick up the phone to ring to make an appointment or email them directly. Teachers always welcome any parent/whanau/caregiver enquiries. Mr Tim Burke Tim Burke will be taking leave from school for Term 3 only and will be a teacher for NEMP, which is the NaTonal EducaTon Monitoring Project. The learning areas Mr Burke will focus on is Health and Physical EducaTon and Science. We have been fortunate to secure Mrs Emily Halse for the term and she is an experienced teacher. Room 10 is in safe hands!! Parent Playground Supervision Support It has been suggested by a parent that other parents might like to support the school at break Tmes due to the limited space and so many students in full flight of play! If you would like to help, please phone the school or leave your name with Mrs Ba^en in the office. Our break Tmes are 11.00am to 11.30am and 1.00pm to 1.50pm. The school will require that a code of conduct is observed with the management of students. Should you respond to this offer, we will fully brief you on playground requirements. Kapa haka Every Friday we have Kapa haka for students in Kauri and Rimu syndicates. We welcome you to come and support this. If your child is in Kauri – that is in Rooms 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 – they have Kapa haka from 9am to 10am. If they are in Rimu – Rooms 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 – they have Kapa haka from 10am to 11am. If you would like grandparents or extended whanau to watch and support, then please invite them. A supporTve and a^enTve audience raises performance. Should you respond to this offer please sign in at the office on entry and out on exit. Sally Wilson - Principal

Today we went to visit Mike the rescue helicopter. We learnt that Mike the rescue helicopter could go up to ten thousand feet high. We also learnt about how they work the main rotator blades in the cockpit. I loved when I got to go inside the rescue helicopter. Before we went out of the hanger we got a wrist band and it said I love Northland Rescue helicopter. Caleb Mills Rm 17
