Who is it for: Built environment professionals with a basic understanding of sustainability. This could include architects, engineers, contractors, developers, local authorities, etc.

These courses can provide practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of sustainability across the entire building

lifecycle and how it can increase the value of projects, benefitting the whole supply chain and the end user.

LEVEL 3: APPLICATION

K nowledge level: Early-stage professionals (5 - 15 years experience) from across industry.

Who is it for: For future leaders who want to fast-track their leadership journey, and gain the experience of transforming an innovative idea into a business reality.

Future Leaders brings together early-stage professionals from across industry to take part in a unique programme of leadership and innovation. The action-oriented programme provides a forum for tomorrow’s leaders to grapple with the most critical issues that the sector will face in the future, and challenge participants to work collaboratively to address these.

Future Leaders develop unique business models before presenting them to current business leaders in the built environment.

Key themes covered across this programme are personal leadership, challenging assumptions, collaborative thinking, business model development, innovation and storytelling.

To take part in the Future Leaders programme you should have between 5 and 15 years of professional experience and must be enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate about sustainability in a business context.

Future Leaders can come from any background from within the built environment sector, and are selected by their enthusiasm to learn, an openness to new ways of thinking, and a desire to challenge current ways of working. It is not by any means a prerequisite to have sustainability in your job title – in fact the diversity of perspectives is crucial to the programme’s success.

K nowledge level: For those who have a good understanding of sustainability, but want to hone this, challenge themselves to learn new topics, and then apply this knowledge to achieve real impact.

Who is it for: Built environment practitioners including architects, engineers, developers, sustainability practitioners, local authorities etc.

MASTERCLASSES(L300)

ON-SITE LEARNING TOURS(L310)

Our masterclasses are designed to provide sustainability professionals with a more in-depth and detailed understanding of a specific topic, and offer guidance on ‘how to’ implement strategies and tools into everyday work practices.

Learners will enjoy a highly interactive learning experience and hear from expert industry and academic speakers, enabling them to apply their learning to projects and business strategies.

For each masterclass we develop supporting online resources including presentations, a ‘how to’ guide and resource list for further information.

Previous masterclasses have included:

How to: Develop a green infrastructure strategy on your projectsHow to: Use a social sustainability frameworkHow to: Measure embodied carbonHow to: Get started creating a sustainability strategyHow to: Execute a high-impact Post Occupancy Evaluation

CPD HOURS3

On-site Learning Tours offer the most ‘hands on’ form of learning that we deliver. Immerse yourself in a real life project, hear about the lessons learned and how these lessons can be applied to help you achieve sustainable outcomes on your projects.

Held at highly sustainable building or community project, the on-site learning stream offers an interactive and immersive learning approach to sustainability.

Each session includes:

A presentation by technical experts involved in the project, who present on its vision, objectives and success criteriaA guided tour of the building or community project led by those who directly worked on it, and with a focus on practical solutions and lessons learnedA detailed follow-up case study of the project

As ever with UK-GBC courses, taking just three hours out of my day for a masterclass allowed me to learn so much. I will take away skills that I can put to immediate use.

Victoria Ball, Sustainability Manager, David Ball Group

The UK-GBC’s on-site learning tour of the WWF Living Planet Centre was excellent. Not only did we gain from the insights of the design and construction team regarding the aspirations

and lessons learnt on the project, we benefited from a tour of the building guided by the client experiencing first-hand what we had learnt from the project team, which was extremely informative and very enjoyable.

Alison Nimmo, Chief Executive, The Crown Estate

To ensure your organisation’s sustainability strategy is effectively actioned across your supply chain, we can develop sustainability focused supply chain workshops or courses. This has proved to be a highly effective way of raising awareness of sustainability requirements, and sharing best practice across a supply chain on how these requirements can be met and exceeded.

SUPPLY CHAIN TRAINING

Building on our Leadership Accelerator and Future Leaders programme, we can develop leadership and innovation programmes specifically tailored to your organisation’s needs. This could be developed for your Board level executives, middle managers or the rising stars you’ve identified in your business.

LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATION PROGRAMMES

We can develop an ‘in-house’ e-learning course for roll out to your employees (and supply chain). This can be tailored to include your company logos and videos from your business leaders and sustainability teams explaining your organisation’s sustainability strategy.

E-LEARNING COURSES

To ensure that your entire organisation has some level of sustainability training we can develop a framework uniquely tailored to your needs. By identifying job responsibilities, key gaps in understanding and the material issues for the business, we can develop a sustainability learning framework which upskills the whole organisation, and helps propel it to a leadership position.
