Our Compliments Appreciation letter from FDWs

-------------------------------------------------- Appreciation card from CEI participants

This is to acknowledge a good and helpful staff. I phoned on 30 April as I had difficulty registering my

new worker. A lady staff spoke to me. She was

patient and clear and very helpful- first to guide

me on what to do to register a course and then on the phone assured me of a place to attend the course. So

your staff was very helpful even though your office probably had a lot of such calls because the new

requirements take effect from 1 May.

---------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your support and guidance in

helping us to be BizSAFE Level 3 certified. We

appreciate the excellent work and

professionalism you have put together with your

staff throughout the entire BizSAFE journey. We will continue to ensure that the workplace safety and health requirements are incorporated into part of our routine activities and create a safer and healthier work environment for all our employees.

We will not hesitate to testify to your potential clients the good service delivered by your goodself and company.

In the News - Singapore New programme for maids start May 1

Apr 14, 2012, The Straits Times. The new Settling-In Programme (SIP) will be offered by Grace Management & Consultancy Services, in partnership with the Foreign Domestic Worker Association for Skills Training.

New maid course to focus on safety

Jun 15, 2012, The Straits Times. With a spike in the number of fatal falls involving FDWs due to cleaning windows and hanging laundry, FAST and GMC will be offering a 4-hour programme on safety which aims to raise the personal safety awareness when FDWs are performing their house chores. The FDWs are expected to be able to carry out their house chores in a safe manner around window areas and able to identify the potential hazards around their work areas.

Your next maid could be from…Cambodia.

Feb 2, 2013, The Straits Times. Mr Richard Khoo, the Managing Director of GMC was quoted as saying that GMC will set up a centre in Phnom Penh to train maids for the pilot scheme.

First male helper from Myanmar starts work

May 12, 2013, The Sunday Times. Local employment agency, Homekeeper has inked a deal with Singapore training course provider GMC to put workers through a 45-day caregiver course in a Yangon Private school.

Conducted at ACM School’s premises in Yangon, the sessions equip the workers with knowledge on dealing with the elderly and spotting health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure. They also learn conversational English and Mandarin, and are taught how to do household chores.

17

Fast – and fun – way for foreign maids to network

August 21, 2013, The Straits Times. More than 60 foreign domestic workers gathered on Sunday afternoon to mingle and network with their peers and volunteer befrienders.

The gathering was part of the Foreign Domestic Worker Association for Social Support and Training's (Fast) objective to improve their quality of life. Fast will be holding such gatherings every fortnight at a multi-purpose hall in Raeburn Park.

New rules for hiring Myanmar maids

March 24, 2014, The Straits Times. They cover minimum monthly wage, day off and recruitment fees.

Besides the new rules, the women will have to attend a month-long training programmes in centres in Myanmar, where they will be taught simple English and housekeeping skills, and learn about life in Singapore. At least 10 training centres have been established since last year, of which two are run by Singapore training course provider Grace Management & Consultancy Services and its Myanmar partners.

Mr Richard Khoo, the Managing Director of GMC was quoted as saying that we will ensure the maids learn about life in a city like Singapore. We don’t want them to have a culture shock.
