About God’s Greenery

You have probably noticed CBD - Cannabidiol - has popped up everywhere from beauty salons, spas, farmer’s markets, fitness centers, membership-only warehouse clubs and more. CBD that is hemp-based is legal in all 50 states and rapidly becoming mainstream for its notable health benefits.

Understanding all of it can be overwhelming and exhausting, especially for Christians who may not understand the difference between CBD and cannabis and how it fits into their faith system.

Finding one place to make sense of all the information, filtered through a faith lens has not existed - until now. GodsGreenery.com is the first online community where Christians can access reliable information, research and stories about the use of Cannabidiol or CBD, the non-psychoactive, natural components of hemp and cannabis. GodsGreenery.com serves as host to the information and discussion around CBD and related health topics through a faith lens.

We know Christians are using, recommending and selling CBD because of personal stories we have already gathered, powerful accounts in the media, first person social media accounts and and other data. To make things easier for the faith community, GodsGreenery.com has sorted original stories, thought provoking articles and scientific studies about the use of CBD to help this vast community make sense of all there is to know about the role these plants play in our society, again filtered through a Christian lens.

“It is my mission to create the CBD research hub for anyone struggling with serious illness – a

very personal mission.

At just two-years-old, my youngest daughter started having Grand Mal Seizures that locked

her into a terrifying, frozen-like state for 2-5 minutes which is an eternity when your child is

held prisoner in a paralytic seizure.

Additionally, my younger brother suffers from chronic pain due to a tragic hockey accident

that left him paralyzed. As a family, we didn’t know which was worse, the chronic pain or the

opioids he had to take to endure the daily, agonizing pain from which he suffered.

Cannabidiol (CBD) freed my brother from using opioids and has been documented to relieve

thousands of children from epileptic seizures – many permanently. After seeing that CBD has

this same type of healing effect for others, I made it a personal mission to share these healing

properties with the world.

I started with cannabisMD.com and quickly realized the voice of the faith community

was largely missing in the overall conversation about CBD. Many Christians are realizing

the benefits of these products, so God’s Greenery was born to help create a safe, factual,

trustworthy place to explore CBD through a Christian perspective. I hope it will provide you

What is Cannabidiol (CBD)

CBD is the abbreviated nickname given to cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is one of the 100+ cannabinoids which are found in the cannabis sativa plant. These are chemical compounds that have been found to interact with the Endocannabinoid System. This is a system of receptors which is found in the bodies of most animals. It is linked with the immune and nervous systems.

CBD is not the same cannabinoid that causes the ‘high’ associated with cannabis use, which known as THC.

Although not enough is known at present, CBD is believed to act as a regulator for this system. CBD is thoroughly being studied for its possible medicinal properties and as possible treatment option for a whole host of diseases, illnesses and conditions like the ones listed below.

PAINThrough its relaxing effects, CBD helps many people with difficulties sleeping. People do not only report the ability to sleep for longer, but also increased sleep quality. Even when experiencing chronic pain, insomnia is reduced.

ANXIETYCBD is known for its calming effect, which helps when dealing with anxiety. Studies have shown positive effects for various forms of anxiety.

CANCERThere are several symptoms associated with cancer and its conventional treatment. These can be mitigated by CBD oil. Yet, the natural remedy has been found to even kill cancer cells and inhibit the growth of new ones.

SEIZURES AND EPILEPSYResearchers have found that people experience fewer seizures when using CBD. In the beginning of this year, the FDA recently approved the first prescription containing CBD.

AUTISMThe Endocannabinoid System plays an important role in Autism. Due to the system’s receptiveness to CBD, researchers believe that the oil can help in the treatment of Autism, however, more research needs to be carried out.

Michael Klein, CEOMichael Klein has more than two decades of experience in media and entertainment, having created and produced original content across television and digital media for some the most prestigious brands in the industry, including: MTV, Condé Nast Entertainment, Discovery Inc’s TLC, Travel Channel, and Sundance Channel.

Most recently, Klein served as Executive Vice President of Original Content for MTV, where he oversaw strategy and development for the iconic youth and

music brand’s programming across all platforms. Earlier, Klein was Executive Vice President of Programming and Content Strategy for Condé Nast Entertainment, where he was on the leadership team that launched the division charged with developing film, TV, and digital video projects leveraging the company’s iconic print brands. Klein also oversaw the company’s portfolio of digital channels, including: Vogue, Vanity Fair, Wired, GQ and The New Yorker. Prior to Condé Nast, Klein held senior positions with Sundance Channel, TLC, and Travel Channel.

G. Scott Paterson, Co-Founder & Chairman

G. Scott Paterson is the co-founder and chairman of God’s Greenery, a Miraculo company. He has been recognized for decades as one of Canada’s leaders in technology and media finance. Mr. Paterson previously served as Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Yorkton Securities Inc. which, during his tenure, was Canada’s leading technology and entertainment-focused investment bank raising over $3 billion as lead underwriter. Mr. Paterson has also served as Chairman of the Canadian Venture Stock Exchange, Vice Chairman of the Toronto Stock Exchange, a Governor of the Investment Dealers Association, a Director of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund and a Director of the Canadian Securities Institute. An active philanthropist, Mr. Paterson is Chairman of the Merry Go Round Children’s Foundation (and it’s flagship program Kids, Cops & Computers) which he co-founded in 1997. In 2009, he received a Certificate of Appreciation by the Toronto District School Board and Plaque of Appreciation by Toronto’s Deputy Chief of Police on behalf of Merry Go Round. Mr. Paterson has established bursaries at Western University and in 2000 donated $1 million to establish the G Scott Paterson Wing at the Schulich Medical School. Mr. Paterson has also established several bursaries and has been a Governor of Ridley College for 17 years.

Rory Milliken, Co-founder & Chairman

Rory Milliken is the co-founder and chairman of God’s Greenery, a Miraculo company. A serial entrepreneur and visionary, he is an International award-winning inventor with multiple patents adopted, licensed and/or purchased by Fortune 500 Companies. Previously, Mr. Millikin was a managing partner of Bay Mount Capital Resources, a boutique investment advisory firm specializing in institutional and private investments.

The Legality of Cannabidiol (CBD)

CBD is sold in almost every state. Anybody, in any state, can purchase CBD online or in a local brick-and-mortar shop which resulted in a $350 million industry this past year. Several estimates suggest that annual sales of CBD products could surpass $20 billion by 2022.

Does the FDA approve CBD?The FDA does not approve CBD itself. However, it has just recently approved the first CBD based drug. Epidiolex is a CBD drug which has been approved for the treatment of two very severe and quite rare forms of epilepsy.

The FDA has granted approval for the drug to GW Research, Ltd. after it was tested in three randomized, double-blinded and placebo controlled clinical trials. This is the first time the FDA have approved a drug containing CBD.

The DEA (drug enforcement agency) are guided by recommendations from the FDA for their drug scheduling processes. So, the approval of Epidiolex will likely have ramifications on the legality of CBD in the near future.
