ensuringasustainablewatersupply,cleanwaterandsafebeaches,addressingclimatechangeandpreservingwildlifehabitatarethoughtfulandrecognizehowpreciousand

irreplaceableouropenspaceandnaturalresourcesare,saidLiviaBorak,presidentoftheLCVSanDiego.ButourselectionofNathanwasaboutmorethanhisrecordandhisplans.

Fletcher,anavidsurferandcyclist,saidhewantstodomorethanprotectSanDiegos

naturalresources;hewantstoenhancethembyaddressingthepollutionthatplaguesour

oceanandwaterways.Hereleasedhiseight-pointplantoaddressSanDiegoscleanwaterchallengesattodaysannouncement.

ThehealthandsafetyofouroceanandbeachesaffectsallSanDiegans;theyrecentralto

oureconomicprosperityandqualityoflife,Fletchersaid.WhenImmayor,weregoingto

haveaplantoaddressthepollutionofourbays,beachesandwaterways,andweregoing

tobringeveryonetogethertoimplementthechangesweneedtoprotectandenhanceour

naturalresources.

Sincelaunchinghiscampaignlastmonth,Fletcherhasbuiltadiversebaseofsupportfrombusiness,laborandenvironmentalgroups.HesendorsedbythecitysFirefighters,Police
