Some Info about…Imposter Syndrome
• The name: first coined in 1978 by two clinical psychologists:
Pauline Clance & Suzanne Imes.
• The mind-set: where a person - despite evidence to the contrary - believes they are a fraud
and do not deserve the success they achieve.
• The research: studies show that 70% of people have struggled with Imposter Syndrome at
some time.
• The sufferers: Clance and Imes argued that women are more likely to feel like imposters.
Today’s research indicates Imposter Syndrome affects:
- 40% of female Millennials
- 22% of male Millennials
