Career Days! – The CD-team started flyering and distributing small goodies to raise awareness

of this very important upcoming event. They will have an Infostand in the Lichthof from the

25.02 – 1.03 where the students can ask for more detailed information about the companies,

the workshops, the presentation and the fair itself (free coffee included!).

Very important: They need an extended OC since they don’t have enough manpower to manage

the whole promotion and the event by themselves! A spreadsheet has been sent to you last

Wednesday (CLICK). Please make sure that you all sign up at least once to support the team.

Most of all they need 4 people to support them with the logistics for the event (preparing the

rooms for the workshops/presentations) from the 08.03 – 21.03. Also, there are 4 people nee-

ded for the catering (supporting the team with groceries, preparing Apéros, serving during the

event and cleaning) also from the 08.03 - 21-03.

The Career Days Team promises you a cool atmosphere and a great collaboration.

Let’s ROCK OCCD 2013!

CD

Busy – The IM Team is busy doing the amazing work they do all the time: Matching, taking

care of the interns and making sure they’re having a good time. The team had a meeting

right after the holiday break to talk about the upcoming semester and also about the new

synergies they will have with the ER team.

IM

Meeting – The OGX Team had a meeting after the holiday break to discuss all the upco-

ming events, specially the start of OGX recruitment. OGX

Planning – The VP had a meeting with most of the people and told them about the new

structure they want to implement for the second half of the term. During these meetings

they mainly discussed their positions in AIESEC and what the next semester should bring

in terms of development. Kraft Foods seems to be interested in working more closely to-

gether with them (rise more TN's and maybe a training).

ER

Comm day and more – The members came together at the house of the VP to

do a whole Comm day. They looked back at the past semester, talked about the upcoming

one, had some educational sessions and last but not least: a lot of fun!

During the first weeks of university they will be supporting the TM-Team and Career Days

where needed.

Comm

LCP Elections – are planned for Wednesday, March 27th and the applications will be

opened within the next weeks. If you’re interested in taking your career within AIESEC up

to a higher lever you should seriously consider that opportunity. Go for it!

Hatun’s GCDP experience

Our lovely ER member Hatun Budden-

brooks decided not to stay in Switzerland

during the cold and frosty season. So she

took advantage of one of our amazing pro-

grams and went abroad on a GCDP in Mau-

ritius. Curious to find out more about her

experience? Read what she has to tell…

What country did you go to and what did

you do there?

I went to Mauritius for a project called “Lead

Green”. Its main aim was to raise awaren-

ess of environmental issues which the Is-

land is facing. We worked with different

NGOs. We visited schools and did surveys

and workshops.

Were you confronted with any cultural

shocks at the beginning of your time

abroad?

I was surprised – not shocked – by the fact

that the understanding of professionalism

and efficiency differs a lot from our own.

Mauritian people are proud to be easygoing

and consider this kind of professional attitu-

de as a quality and know how to enjoy

themselves.

What would you say was the most un-

forgettable thing/part of your experi-

ence?

The most unforgettable thing for me was

the house I was living in. 22 students living

together in the same house from all around

the world. Not only have I made new friends

but also have I learnt lots of new cooking re-

cipes, songs and traditions (e.g. a Chinese

New Year celebration organized by Chinese

people is worth experiencing).

What were the things that didn't turned out

so well/ didn't work out as expected? (In

terms of housing/working/people...)

The time management. The working hours

were always scheduled spontaneously. An

inconvenience that made it difficult to plan any

non-work-related activity.

Would you recommend it to others?

If you want to combine work and fun and if

you like the sun and beach, I would recom-

mend it. In other words, everyone is going to

love it!

And would you do it again?

I would do it again for a first time. But I will not

do it for a second time.

Is there anything else you’d like to share

with us?

I came home and thought: my bed, my room,

my closet, my pillow, my sheet, my shampoo,

mine, mine, mine. No matter how much I lo-

ved it, home is always a nice place to come

back to =)

Thank you very much Hatun for sharing

some of our experineces!
