2-YEAR ON TRACTORWhen used and maintained according to the operator's manual instructions, if thistractor fails due to a defect in material or workmanship within two years from the date ofpurchase, call 1-800-4-MY-HOME® to arrange for free repair.
During the first 30 days of purchase, there will be no charge to service the product inyour home. For your convenience, in-home warranty service will still be available afterthe first 30 days of purchase, but a trip charge will apply. Tractor warranty coverage does not include:
, Expendable items which become worn during normal use, including but not limited toblades, spark plugs, air cleaners, belts, and oil filters.
, Standard maintenance servicing, oil changes, or tune-ups., Tire replacement or repair caused by punctures from outside objects, such as nails,
thorns, stumps, or glass., Repairs necessary because of operator abuse, including but not limited to damage
caused by towing objects beyond the capability of the tractor, impacting objects thatbend the frame or crankshaft, or over-speeding the engine.
• Repairs necessary because of operator negligence, including but not limited to electri-cal and mechanical damage caused by improper storage, failure to use the propergrade and amount of engine oil, failure to keep the deck clear of flammable debris,or failure to maintain the equipment according to the instructions contained in theoperator's manual.
, Engine (fuel system) cleaning or repairs necessary because of fuel determined to becontaminated or oxidized (stale). In general, fuel should be used within 30 days of itspurchase date.
, Normal deterioration and wear of the exterior finishes, or product label replacement.• The tractor battery, which is covered for only 90 days as stated below.90=DAYS ON BATTERY
For ninety (90) days from the date of purchase, if the battery included with this tractor isdefective in material or workmanship (our testing proves it will not hold a charge), it willbe replaced free of charge.

Use common sense when towing.Operate only at the lowest possible speedwhen on a slope. Too heavy of a load,while on a slope, is dangerous. Tires canlose traction with the ground and causeyou to lose control of your tractor.

I. GENERAL OPERATION
* Read, understand, and follow allinstructions on the machine and in the
manual before starting.* Do not put hands or feet near rotating
parts or under the machine. Keep clearof the discharge opening at all times.
* Only allow responsible adults, who arefamiliar with the instructions, to operatethe machine.
* Clear the area of objects such asrocks, toys, wire, etc., which could bepicked up and thrown by the blades.
* Be sure the area is clear of bystand-ers before operating. Stop machine ifanyone enters the area.
* Never carry passengers., Do not mow in reverse unless abso-
lutely necessary. Always look downand behind before and while backing.
Never direct discharged materialtoward anyone. Avoid dischargingmaterial against a wall or obstruction.Material may ricochet back toward theoperator. Stop the blades when cross-ing gravel surfaces.Do not operate machine without theentire grass catcher, discharge guard,or other safety devices in place andworking.Slow down before turning.Never leave a running machineunattended. Always turn off blades,set parking brake, stop engine, andremove keys before dismounting.Disengage blades when not mowing.Shut off engine and wait for all parts tocome to a complete stop before clean-ing the machine, removing the grasscatcher, or unclogging the dischargeguard.Operate machine only in daylight orgood artificial light.Do not operate the machine whileunder the influence of alcohol or drugs.Watch for traffic when operating nearor crossing roadways.Use extra care when loading or unload-ing the machine into a trailer or truck.Always wear eye protection when oper-ating machine.Data indicates that operators, age 60years and above, are involved in alarge percentage of riding mower-re-lated injuries. These operators shouldevaluate their ability to operate theriding mower safely enough to protectthemselves and others from serious
injury.Follow the manufacturer's recommen-
dation for wheel weights or counter-weights.Keep machine free of grass, leavesor other debris build-up which cantouch hot exhaust / engine parts andburn. Do not allow the mower to plowleaves or other debris which can cause
build-up to occur. Clean any oil or fuelspillage before operating or storing themachine. Allow machine to cool before
storage.

II. SLOPE OPERATION
Slopes are a major factor related to loss ofcontrol and tip-over accidents, which canresult in severe injury or death. Opera-tion on all slopes requires extra caution. Ifyou cannot back up the slope or if you feeluneasy on it, do not mow it., Mow up and down slopes, not across.• Watch for holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or
other hidden objects. Uneven terraincould overturn the machine. Tall grasscan hide obstacles.
, Choose a low ground speed so thatyou will not have to stop or shift whileon the slope.
, Do not mow on wet grass. Tires maylose traction.
Always keep the machine in gear whengoing down slopes. Do not shift toneutral and coast downhill.
• Avoid starting, stopping, or turning ona slope. If the tires lose traction, dis-engage the blades and proceed slowlystraight down the slope.
, Keep all movement on the slopes slowand gradual. Do not make suddenchanges in speed or direction, whichcould cause the machine to roll over.
, Use extra care while operating ma-chine with grass catchers or other at-tachments; they can affect the stabilityof the machine. Do no use on steepslopes.
• Do not try to stabilize the machine byputting your foot on the ground.
, Do not mow near drop-offs, ditches,or embankments. The machine could
suddenly roll over if a wheel is over theedge or if the edge caves in.
ill. CHILDREN
Tragic accidents can occur if the operatoris not alert to the presence of children.Children are often attracted to the machine
and the mowing activity. Never assumethat children will remain where you lastsaw them.
• Keep children out of the mowing areaand in the watchful care of a respon-sible adult other than the operator.
, Be alert and turn machine off if a childenters the area.
• Before and while backing, look behindand down for small children.
• Never carry children, even with theblades shut off. They may fall off andbe seriously injured or interfere withsafe machine operation. Children whohave been given rides in the past maysuddenly appear in the mowing areafor another ride and be run over or
backed over by the machine.• Never allow children to operate the
machine.
, Use extra care when approaching blindcorners, shrubs, trees, or other objectsthat may block your view of a child.
IV. TOWING
• Tow only with a machine that has ahitch designed for towing. Do not at-tach towed equipment except at thehitch point.
• Follow the manufacturer's recom-
mendation for weight limits for towedequipment and towing on slopes.
• Never allow children or others in or on
towed equipment.• On slopes, the weight of the towed
equipment may cause loss of tractionand loss of control.
, Travel slowly and allow extra distanceto stop.
V. SERVICE
SAFE HANDLING OF GASOLINE
To avoid personal injury or propertydamage, use extreme care in handlinggasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammableand the vapors are explosive., Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes,
and other sources of ignition.• Use only approved gasoline container., Never remove gas cap or add fuel with
the engine running. Allow engine tocool before refueling.
, Never fuel the machine indoors., Never store the machine or fuel con-
tainer where there is an open flame,spark, or pilot light such as on a waterheater or other appliances.
• Never fill containers inside a vehicle
or on a truck or trailer bed with plasticliner. Always place containers on theground away from your vehicle whenfilling.
. Removegas-poweredequipmentfromthe truck or trailer and refuel it on theground. If this is not possible,thenrefuel such equipmentwith a portablecontainer,rather than from a gasolinedispenser nozzle.
. Keep the nozzle incontact with the rimof the fuel tank or containeropeningatall times until fueling is complete. Donot use a nozzle lock-opendevice.
• If fuel is spilled on clothing, changeclothing immediately.
. Never overfill fuel tank. Replace gascap and tighten securely.
GENERAL SERVICE
• Never operate machine in a closedarea.
. Keep all nuts and bolts tight to be surethe equipment is in safe working condi-tion.
Never tamper with safety devices.
Check their proper operation regularly.. Keep machine free of grass, leaves, or
other debris build-up. Clean oil or fuelspillage and remove any fuel-soakeddebris. Allow machine to cool before
storing.If you strike a foreign object, stop andinspect the machine. Repair, if neces-sary, before restarting.Never make any adjustments or repairswith the engine running.Check grass catcher components andthe discharge guard frequently andreplace with manufacturer's recom-mended parts, when necessary.Mower blades are sharp. Wrap theblade or wear gloves, and use extracaution when servicing them.Check brake operation frequently. Ad-just and service as required.Maintain or replace safety and instruc-tion labels, as necessary.

. Do not turn on slopes unless neces-sary, and then, turn slowly and gradu-ally downhill, if possible.

When right or left hand is mentioned inthis manual, it means, from your point ofview, when you are in the operating posi-tion (seated behind the steering wheel).
TO REMOVE TRACTOR FROM
CARTON
UNPACK CARTON
1. Cut along dashed lines on all four pan-els of carton. Remove end panels andlay side panels flat.
2. Remove protective materials from trac-tor hood and grille.
IMPORTANT: Check for and remove anystaples in skid that may puncture tireswhere tractor is to roll off skid.CHECK BATTERY
1. Lift hood to raised position.NOTE: If this battery is put into serviceafter month and year indicated on label(L) (label is located between terminals)charge battery for minimum of one hour at6-10 amps. (See "BATTERY" in Mainte-nance section of this manual for charginginstructions).
ADJUST SEAT
1. Sit in seat.
2. Lift up adjustment lever (A) and slideseat until a comfortable position isreached which allows you to pressclutch/brake pedal all the way down.
3. Release lever to lock seat in position.

TO ROLL TRACTOR OFF SKID (See
Operation section for location and
function of controls)1. Raise attachment lift lever to its high-
est position.2. Release parking brake by depressing
brake pedal.3. Place freewheel control in disengaged
position to disengage transmission(See "TO TRANSPORT" in the Op-eration section of this manual).
4. Roll tractor forward off skid.5. Removebanding holdingthe deflector
shield up against tractor.TO DRIVE TRACTOR OFF SKID
(See Operation section for location
and function of controls)1. Be sure all the above assembly steps
have been completed.2. Check engine oil level and fill fuel tank
with gasoline.3. Place freewheel control in "trans-
mission engaged" position (see "TOTRANSPORT" in Operation section ofthis manual).
4. Sit on seat in operating position, de-press brake pedal and set the parkingbrake.
5. Raise attachment lift lever to its highestposition.
6. Remove key from bag and start theengine (see "TO START ENGINE" inthe Operation section of this manual).After engine has started, move throttlecontrol to idle (slow) position.
7. Release parking brake.8. Slowly depress forward drive pedal
and drive tractor off skid.
9. Apply brake to stop tractor and setparking brake.
10.Turn ignition key to "STOP" position.Continue with the instructions that follow.
CHECK TIRE PRESSURE
The tires on your tractor were overinflatedat the factory for shipping purposes. Cor-rect tire pressure is important for bestcutting performance., Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown on
tires.
CHECK DECK LEVELNESS
For best cutting results, mower hous-ing should be properly leveled. See "TOLEVEL MOWER" in the Service andAdjustments section of this manual.
CHECK FOR PROPER POSITIONOF ALL BELTS
See the figures that are shown for replac-ing motion and mower blade drive beltsin the Service and Adjustments sectionof this manual. Verify that the belts arerouted correctly.
CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM
After you learn how to operate your trac-tor, check to see that the brake is operat-ing properly. See "TO CHECK BRAKE"in the Service and Adjustments section ofthis manual.

Before you operate your new tractor, wewish to assure that you receive the bestperformance and satisfaction from thisQuality Product.Please review the following checklist:¢" All assembly instructions have been
completed.v" No remaining loose parts in carton.v" Battery is properly prepared and
charged.v" Seat is adjusted comfortably and tight-
ened securely.v" All tires are properly inflated. (For ship-
ping purposes, the tires were overin-flated at the factory).
v" Be sure mower deck is properly leveledside-to-side/front-to-rear for best cuttingresults. (Tires must be properly inflatedfor leveling).
v" Check mower and drive belts. Be surethey are routed properly around pulleysand inside all belt keepers.
V" Check wiring. See that all connectionsare still secure and wires are properlyclamped.
v" Before driving tractor, be sure freewheelcontrol is in "transmission engaged"position (see "TO TRANSPORT" in theOperation section of this manual).
While learning how to use your tractor, payextra attention to the following importantitems:v" Engine oil is at proper level.v" Fuel tank is filled with fresh, clean, regu-
lar unleaded gasoline.v" Become familiar with all controls, their
location and function. Operate thembefore you start the engine.
¢" Be sure brake system is in safe operat-ing condition.
v" Be sure Operator Presence Systemand Reverse Operation System (ROS)are working properly (See the Opera-tion and Maintenance sections in this
manual).¢" It is important to purge the transmission
before operating your tractor for the firsttime. Follow proper starting and transmis-sion purging instructions (See "TO STARTENGINE" and "PURGE TRANSMISSION"in the Operation section of this manual).
These symbols may appearon your tractor or in literaturesupplied with the product.Learn and understandtheir meaning.

(A) ATTACHMENT LIFT LEVER - Usedto raise and lower the mower or other at-
tachments mounted to your tractor.(B) BRAKE PEDAL - Used for braking thetractor and starting the engine.(C) PARKING BRAKE - Locks clutch/brake pedal into the brake position.(D) THROTTLE CONTROL- Used tocontrol engine speed.(E) ATTACHMENT CLUTCH LEVER- Used to engage the mower blades, orother attachments mounted to your tractor.(F) IGNITION SWITCH - Used for startingand stopping the engine.(G) REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM(ROS) "ON" POSITION - Allows opera-tion of mower or other powered attach-ment while in reverse.
(H) LIGHT SWITCH - Turns the head-lights on and off,(J) CRUISE CONTROL LEVER - Used toset forward movement of tractor at desired
speed without holding the forward drivepedal.(K) FORWARD DRIVE PEDAL - Used forforward movement of tractor.

The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into theeyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glassesor eye shields while operating your tractor or performing any adjustmentsor repairs. We recommend standard safety glasses or a wide vision safetymask worn over spectacles.
HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTOR
TO SET PARKING BRAKE
Your tractor is equipped with an operatorpresence sensing switch. When engineis running, any attempt by the operatorto leave the seat without first setting theparking brake will shut off the engine.1. Depress brake pedal (B) all the way
down and hold.
2. Pull parking brake lever (C) up andhold, release pressure from brakepedal (B), then release parking brakelever. Pedal should remain in brake
position. Make sure parking brake willhold tractor secure.
ENGINE -
• Move throttle control (D) between halfand full speed (fast) position,
NOTE: Failure to move throttle control
between half and full speed (fast) posi-tion, before stopping, may cause engine to"backfire",
Turn ignition key (F) to "STOP" positionand remove key, Always remove keywhen leaving tractor to prevent unau-thorized use,
Never use choke (N) to stop engine,IMPORTANT: Leaving the ignition switch inany position other than "STOP" will causethe battery to discharge and go dead,NOTE: Under certain conditions when
tractor is standing idle with the engine run-ning, hot engine exhaust gases may cause"browning" of grass, To eliminate this pos-sibility, always stop engine when stoppingtractor on grass areas,

TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT
The position of the attachment lift lever (A)determines the cutting height.
, The average lawn should be cut to ap-proximately 2-1/2 inches during the coolseason and to over 3 inches during hotmonths. For healthier and better look-
ing lawns, mow often and after moderategrowth.
• For best cutting performance, grass over6 inches in height should be mowedtwice. Make the first cut relatively high;the second to desired height.
TO ADJUST GAUGE WHEELS
Gauge wheels are properly adjustedwhen they are slightly off the ground whenmower is at the desired cutting height inoperating position. Gauge wheels thenkeep the deck in proper position to helpprevent scalping in most terrain conditions.NOTE: Adjust gauge wheels with tractoron a fiat level surface.
1. Adjust mower to desired cutting height(See "TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTINGHEIGHT" in this section of manual).
2. With mower in desired height of cutposition, gauge wheels should beassembled so they are slightly off theground. Install gauge wheel in appro-priate hole. Tighten securely.
3. Repeat for all, installing gauge wheel insame adjustment hole.
• Put attachment lift lever in desired cut-
ting height slot., Slide pointer tab (T) to desired cutting
height as a reminder for next time youmow.
The cutting height range is approxi-mately 1" to 4". The heights are mea-sured from the ground to the blade tip withthe engine not running. These heightsare approximate and may vary dependingupon soil conditions, height of grass andtypes of grass being mowed.
TO OPERATE MOWER
Your tractor is equipped with an operatorpresence sensing switch. Any attemptby the operator to leave the seat with theengine running and the attachment clutchengaged will shut off the engine. You mustremain fully and centrally positioned in theseat to prevent the engine from hesitatingor cutting off when operating your equip-ment on rough, rolling terrain or hills.1. Select desired height of cut with at-
tachment lift lever.2. Start mower blades by engaging at-
tachment clutch control.TO STOP MOWER BLADES -disengage attachment clutch control.

REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS)Your tractor is equipped with a ReverseOperation System (ROS). Any attempt bythe operator to travel in the reverse direc-tion with the attachment clutch engagedwill shut off the engine unless ignition keyis placed in the ROS "ON" position.
Ai_WARNING: Backing up with the at-tachment clutch engaged while mowingis strongly discouraged. Turning the ROS"ON", to allow reverse operation with theattachment clutch engaged, should onlybe done when the operator decides it isnecessary to reposition the machine withthe attachment engaged. Do not mow inreverse unless absolutely necessary.
USING THE REVERSE OPERATIONSYSTEM -
Only use if you are certain no children orother bystanders will enter the mowingarea.1. Depress brake pedal all the way down.2. With engine running, turn ignition key
counterclockwise to ROS "ON" posi-tion.
3. Look down and behind before andwhile backing.
4. Slowly depress reverse drive pedal tostart movement.
5. When use of the ROS is no longerneeded, turn the ignition key clockwiseto engine "ON" position.

TO TRANSPORT
When pushing or towing your tractor, besure to disengage transmission by placingfreewheel control in freewheeling position.Freewheel control is located at the reardrawbar of tractor.

2. Pull freewheel control out and into theslot and release so it is held in the
disengaged position.• Do not push or tow tractor at more than

TOWING CARTS AND OTHER ATTACH-MENTS
Tow only the attachments that are recom-mended by and comply with specificationsof the manufacturer of your tractor. Usecommon sense when towing. Too heavyof a load, while on a slope, is dangerous.Tires can lose traction with the ground andcause you to lose control of your tractor.
SERVICE REMINDER/HOUR METERService reminder shows the total numberof hours the engine has run and flashes toindicate that the engine or mower needsservicing. When service is required, theservice reminder will flash for two hours.To service engine and mower, see theMaintenance section of this manual.NOTE: Service reminder runs when theignition key is in any position but "STOP".For accurate reading, be sure key remainsin the "STOP" position when engine is notrunning.
BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE
CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
The engine in your tractor has beenshipped, from the factory, already filledwith summer weight oil.1. Check engine oil with tractor on level
ground.2. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick and wipe
clean, reinsert the dipstick and screwcap tight, wait for a few seconds, re-move and read oil level. If necessary,add oil until "FULl" mark on dipstick isreached. Do not overfill.
• For cold weather operation you shouldchange oil for easier starting (See theoil viscosity chart in the Maintenancesection of this manual).
, To change engine oil, see the Mainte-nance section in this manual.
ADD GASOLINE
Fill fuel tank to bottom of filler neck. Do
not overfill. Use fresh, clean, regularunleaded gasoline with a minimum of87 octane. (Use of leaded gasoline willincrease carbon and lead oxide depositsand reduce valve life). Do not mix oilwith gasoline. Purchase fuel in quan-tities that can be used within 30 days toassure fuel freshness.
_I, CAUTION: Wipe off any spilled oil orfuel. Do not store, spill or use gasolinenear an open flame.IMPORTANT: When operating in temper-atures below32°F(0°C), use fresh, cleanwinter grade gasoline to help insure goodcold weather starting.
CAUTION: Alcohol blended fuels (calledgasohol or using ethanol or methanol) canattract moisture which leads to separa-tion and formation of acids during storage.Acidic gas can damage the fuel systemof an engine while in storage. To avoidengine problems, the fuel system shouldbe emptied before storage of 30 daysor longer. Drain the gas tank, start theengine and let it run until the fuel linesand carburetor are empty. Use fresh fuelnext season. See Storage Instructions foradditional information. Never use engineor carburetor cleaner products in the fueltank or permanent damage may occur.
TO START ENGINE
When starting the engine for the first timeor if the engine has run out of fuel, it willtake extra cranking time to move fuel fromthe tank to the engine.1. Be sure freewheel control is in the
transmission engaged position.2. Sit on seat in operating position,
depress brake pedal and set parkingbrake.
3. Move attachment clutch to disengagedposition.
4. Move throttle control to fast position5. Pull choke control out for a cold engine
start attempt. For a warm engine startattempt the choke control may not beneeded.
NOTE: Before starting, read the warm andcold starting procedures below.6. Insert key into ignition and turn key
clockwise to start position and releasekey as soon as engine starts. Donot run starter continuously for morethan fifteen seconds per minute. If theengine does not start after severalattempts, push choke control in, waita few minutes and try again. If enginestill does not start, pull the choke con-trol out and retry.
WARM WEATHER STARTING (50 ° F andabove)
7. When engine starts, slowly push chokecontrol in until the engine begins torun smoothly. If the engine starts torun roughly, pull the choke control outslightly for a few seconds and thencontinue to push the control in slowly.
The attachments and ground drive cannow be used. If the engine does notaccept the load, restart the engine andallow it to warm up for one minute usingthe choke as described above.

COLD WEATHER STARTING (50 ° F andbelow)
7. When engine starts, slowly push chokecontrol in until the engine begins to runsmoothly. Continue to push the chokecontrol in small steps allowing the en-gine to accept small changes in speedand load, until the choke control is fullyin. If the engine starts to run roughly,pull the choke control out slightly for afew seconds and then continue to pushthe control in slowly. This may requirean engine warm-up period from severalseconds to several minutes, dependingon the temperature.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WARM UP
Before driving the unit in cold weather,the transmission should be warmed up asfollows:
1. Be sure the tractor is on level ground.2. Release the parking brake and let the
brake slowly return to operating posi-tion.
3. Allow one minute for transmission to
warm up. This can be done during theengine warm up period.
The attachments can be used duringthe engine warm-up period after thetransmission has been warmed up andmay require the choke control be pulledout slightly.
NOTE: If at a high altitude (above 3000feet) or in cold temperatures (below 32 F)the carburetor fuel mixture may need tobe adjusted for best engine performance(see "TO ADJUST CARBURETOR" in theService and Adjustments section of thismanual).
RGE TRANSMiSSiON
CAUTION: Never engage or dis-engage freewheel lever while the engineis running.To ensure proper operation and per-formance, it is recommended that thetransmission be purged before operatingtractor for the first time. This procedure willremove any trapped air inside the trans-mission which may have developed duringshipping of your tractor.IMPORTANT: Should your transmissionrequire removal for service or replace-ment, it should be purged after reinstall-ation before operating the tractor.1. Place tractor safely on a level surface
- that is clear of objects and open - withengine off and parking brake set.
2. Disengage transmission by placingfreewheel control in disengaged posi-tion (See "TO TRANSPORT" in thissection of manual).
3. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine.After the engine is running, movethrottle control to slow position. Disen-
,_llgage parking brake.AUTION: At any time, during step
4, there may be movement of the drivewheels.
4. Depress forward drive pedal to fullforward position and hold for five (5)seconds and release pedal. Depressreverse drive pedal to full reverse posi-tion and hold for five (5) seconds andrelease pedal. Repeat this procedurethree (3) times.
5. Shutoff engine and set parking brake.6. Engage transmission by placing free-
wheel control in engaged position (See"TO TRANSPORT" in this section of
manual).7. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine.
After the engine is running, movethrottle control to half (1/2) speed.Disengage parking brake.
8. Drive tractor forward for approximatelyfive feet then backwards for five feet.
Repeat this driving procedure threetimes.
Your transmission is now purged and nowready for normal operation.

MOWING TiPS
• Tire chains cannot be used when the
mower housing is attached to tractor.. Mower should be properly leveled for
best mowing performance. See "TOLEVEL MOWER HOUSING" in the
Service and Adjustments section of thismanual.
. The left hand side of mower should be
used for trimming.• Drive so that clippings are discharged
onto the area that has already beencut. Have the cut area to the right ofthe tractor. This will result in a more
even distribution of clippings and moreuniform cutting.
• When mowing large areas, start byturning to the right so that clippings willdischarge away from shrubs, fences,driveways, etc. After one or two rounds,mow in the opposite direction makingleft hand turns until finished.

TRANSAXLE COOLINGThe transmissionfan and coolingfinsshould be kept clean to assure propercooling.Do not attempt to clean fan or transmis-sion while engine is runningor while thetransmission is hot. To prevent possibledamage to seals, do not usehigh pressurewater or steam to clean transaxle.
Inspectcooling fan to besure fan bladesare intact and clean.Inspectcooling fins for dirt, grass clip-pings and other materials. To preventdamageto seals, do not use com-pressedair or high pressure sprayer toclean coolingfins.
TRANSAXLE PUMP FLUID
The transaxle was sealed at the factoryand fluid maintenance is not required forthe life of the transaxle. Should the trans-axle ever leak or require servicing, contactyour nearest Sears or other qualifiedservice center.
NOTE: Although multi-viscosity oils(5W30, 10W30 etc.) improve starting incold weather, they will result in increasedoil consumption when used above 32°ECheck your engine oil level more frequent-ly to avoid possible engine damage fromrunning low on oil.Change the oil after every 50 hours of op-eration or at least once a year if the tractoris not used for 50 hours in one year.Check the crankcase oil level before start-
ing the engine and after each eight (8)hours of operation. Tighten oil fill cap/dipstick securely each time you check theoil level.
TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL
Determine temperature range expectedbefore oil change. All oil must meet APIservice classification SG-SL.
Be sure tractor is on level surface.
Oil will drain more freely when warm.Catch oil in a suitable container.
1. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick. Be carefulnot to allow dirt to enter the enginewhen changing oil.
2. Remove yellow cap from end of drainvalve and install the drain tube onto the
fitting.

TO SERVICE CARTRIDGE
1. Clean cartridge by tapping gently onflat surface. If very dirty or damaged,replace cartridge.
2. Reinstall precleaner cartridge, coverand secure.
IMPORTANT: Petroleum solvents, suchas kerosene, are not to be used to cleanthe cartridge. They may cause deterio-ration of the cartridge. Do not oil cartridge.Do not use pressurized air to clean or drycartridge.
CLEAN AIR INTAKE/COOLING AREAS
To insure proper cooling, make sure thegrass screen, cooling fins, and other exter-nal surfaces of the engine are kept cleanat all times.
Every 100 hours of operation (more oftenunder extremely dusty, dirty conditions),remove the blower housing and other cool-ing shrouds. Clean the cooling fins andexternal surfaces as necessary. Make surethe cooling shrouds are reinstalled.NOTE: Operating the engine with ablocked grass screen, dirty or pluggedcooling fins, and/or cooling shroudsremoved will cause engine damage due tooverheating.MUFFLER
Inspect and replace corroded muffler andspark arrester (if equipped) as it could cre-ate a fire hazard and/or damage.
SPARK PLUG(S)Replace spark plug(s) at the beginningof each mowing season or after every100 hours of operation, whichever occursfirst. Spark plug type and gap setting areshown in "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS"section of this manual.
IN-LINE FUEL FILTER
The fuel filter should be replaced onceeach season. If fuel filter becomes
clogged, obstructing fuel flow to carbu-retor, replacement is required.1. With engine cool, remove filter and
plug fuel line sections.2. Place new fuel filter in position in fuel
line with arrow pointing towards carbu-retor.
3. Be sure there are no fuel line leaks andclamps are properly positioned.
4. Immediately wipe up any spilled gaso-line.

You may also check brake by:1. Park tractor on a level, dry concrete or
paved surface, depress brake pedalall the way down and engage parkingbrake.
2. Disengage transmission by placingfreewheel control in "transmission dis-
engaged" position. Pull freewheel con-trol out and into the slot and release so
it is held in the disengaged position.The rear wheels must lock and skid
when you try to manually push the tractorforward. If the rear wheels rotate, then thebrake needs to be serviced. Contact a

Your carburetor is not adjustable. If yourengine does not operate properly due tosuspected carburetor problems, take yourtractor to a Sears or other qualified servicecenter for repair and/or adjustment.High speed stop is factory adjusted. Donot adjust - damage may result.IMPORTANT: Never tamper with theengine governor, which is factory setfor proper engine speed. Overspeed-ing the engine above the factory highspeed setting can be dangerous. If youthink the engine-governed high speedneeds adjusting, contact a Sears or otherqualified service center which has properequipment and experience to make anynecessary adjustments.

BATTERY
Fully charge the battery for storage.After a period of time in storage, batterymay require recharging.To help prevent corrosion and powerleakage during long periods of storage,battery cables should be disconnectedand battery cleaned thoroughly (see "TOCLEAN BATTERY AND TERMINALS" in
the Maintenance section of this manual).After cleaning, leave cables discon-nected and place cables where theycannot come in contact with batteryterminals.
If battery is removed from tractor forstorage, do not store battery directly onconcrete or damp surfaces.
ENGINE
FUEL SYSTEM
IMPORTANT: It is important to preventgum deposits from forming in essentialfuel system parts such as carburetor, fuelhose, or tank during storage. Also, alcoholblended fuels (called gasohol or using
ethanol or methanol) can attract moisturewhich leads to separation and formation ofacids during storage. Acidic gas can dam-age the fuel system of an engine while instorage.
Empty the fuel tank by starting the en-gine and letting it run until the fuel linesand carburetor are empty.Never use engine or carburetor cleanerproducts in the fuel tank or permanentdamage may occur.Use fresh fuel next season.
NOTE: Fuel stabilizer is an acceptablealternative in minimizing the formation offuel gum deposits during storage. Addstabilizer to gasoline in fuel tank or stor-age container. Always follow the mix ratiofound on stabilizer container. Run engineat least 10 minutes after adding stabilizerto allow the stabilizer to reach the carbure-
tor. Do not empty the gas tank and carbu-retor if using fuel stabilizer.ENGINE OIL
Drain oil (with engine warm) and replacewith clean engine oil. (See "ENGINE" inthe Maintenance section of this manual).CYLINDER(S)

I. FUNCIONAMIENTO GENERAL

• Ralentizar antes de girar.• Nunca dejar una m&quina encendida sin vigi-
lancia. Apagar siempre las cuchiNas, poner elfreno de estacionamiento, parar el motor, yquitar las Ilaves antes de bajar.
. Desconectar las cuchiNas cuando no secorta. Apagar el motor y esperar que todaslas partes esten completamente paradasantes de Nmpiar la m&quina, quitar el capta-dor de hierba, o desatascar la protecci6n dedescarga.
• Hacer funcionar la m&quina s61o con la luzdel dfa o luz artificial buena.
• No hacer funcionar la m&quina estando bajolos efectos de alcohol o droga.
• Poner atenci6n al tr&fico cuando se operacerca de canes o se cruzan.
. Poner la m&xima atenci6n al cargar o descar-gar la m&quina en una caravana o cami6n.
. Llevar siempre gafas de protecci6n cuandose hace funcionar la m&quina.

• Seguir las recomendaciones del fabricantepara los pesos y contrapesos de las ruedas.
. Mantener la m&quina libre de hierba, hojasu otros escombros que pueden tocar eltubo de escape / partes del motor caNentesy quemarse. No permitir que el puente delcortacesped cargue hojas u otros residuosque pueden causar acumulaciones. II. FUNClONAMIENTO EN PENDIENTES
Las pendientes son el mayor factor de acciden-tes relativos a la perdida de control y vuelco,que pueden causar severas heridas o muerte.El funcionamiento en pendientes requiere unaatenci6n extra. Si no es posible hacer marchaatr&s en una pendiente o site sientes inco-modo, no la cortes.. Cortar hacia arriba y abajo de una pendiente,
no de modo horizontal.. Poner atenciones a los hoyos, las farces, los
bultos, las piedras u otros objetos escon-didos. El terreno irregular puede volcar lam&quina. La hierba alta puede esconderobst&culos.
• Escogerunavelocidaddemarchabajademodequenoseanecesariopararseo cam-biarestandoenunapendiente.
• Nocortarlahierbamojada.Lasruedaspuedenperdertracci6n.Ponersiempreunamarchacuandoseest&enpendientes.Noponerenpuntomuertoeircuestaabajo.

• Mantenertodolosmovimientosenlaspen-dienteslentosy gradual.Nohacercambiosrepentinosdevelocidado direcci6n,yaquepuedencausarel escapede lam&quina.
, Ponerlam&ximaatenci6ncuandolama-quinafuncionaconcaptadoresdehierbauotrosdispositivosenganchados;puedenafectarlaestabilidaddelam&quina.Nousarenpendientesempinados.
• Nointentarestabilizarlam&quinaponiendoelpieenelterreno.
• Nocortarcercadebajadas,cunetasy orillas.Lasmaquinapuedevolcarseimprovisamentesiunaruedaestaenelbordeosehunde.
III. NII_OSSi el operador no pone atenci6n a la presenciade los niflos pueden ocurrir accidentes tr&gicos.Los niflos a menudo est&n atraidos per la m&-quina y las actividad de cortar. • Nunca permitir que niflos u otras personasesten dentro del equipo por remolcar.

V. SERVlClO
MANIPULACl6N SEGURA DE LA GASOLINAPara evitar heridas personales o daflos alascosas, porter el m&ximo cuidado a la hera demanipular la gasolina. La gasolina es extrema-mente inflamable y los vapores son explosivos., Apagar todos los cigarrillos, cigarros, pipas y
otras fuentes de ignici6n., Usar s61o contenedores para gasolina apro-
bados.• Nunca quitar el tap6n de la gasolina o afladir
carburante con el motor en marcha, dejarenfriar el motor antes del abastecimiento dela gasolina.
, Nunca abastecer la m&quina al interior de unlocal.
, Nunca guardar la m&quina o el contenedordel carburante donde haya una llama abierta,chispas o una luz piloto como un calentadorde agua u otros dispositivos.
• Nunca Ilenar los contenedores al interior deun vehiculo o en una caravana o cami6nrecubiertos con un forte de pl&stico. Colocarsiempre los contenedores en el terreno lejosdel vehiculo cuando se est& Ilenando.
• Quitar el equipo de gas del cami6n o cara-vana y abastecerlo en el terreno. Si no esposible, abastecer dicho equipo con un con-tenedor port&til, m&s bien que de un surtidorde gasolina.
, Mantener la boquilla a contacto del bordedel dep6sito de carburante o la abertura delcontenedor durante toda la operaci6n deabastecimiento. No utilizar un dispositivo conboquilla cerrada-abierta.
• Si se vierte carburante sobre la ropa, cambi-arse la ropa inmediatamente.
• Nunca Ilenar el dep6sito m&s de Io debido.Volver a colocar el tap6n del gas y cerrar demodo firme.
OPERAOIONES DE SERVIClO GENERALES
, Nunca hacer funcionar la maquina en unarea cerrada.

DESEMPAQUE LA CAJA DE CARTON1. Cortar a Io largo de las lineas de puntos
en todos los cuatro paneles de cart6n.Remover los paneles de cierre y aplanar lospaneles laterales.
2.. Remueva el embalage de cart6n del cap6 yde la rejilla.
IMPORTANTE: Revise y remueva todas lasgrampas en la corredera porqoe pueden per-forar las Ilantas en donde el tractor tiene querodar para salirse de ella.
AJUSTE EL ASIENTO1. Sientese sobre el asiento.2. Levante la palanca del ajuste (A) hacia arriba
y mueva el asiento hasta que alcance unaposici6n c6moda que le permita pre-sionar completamente sobre el pedal delembrague/freno.
3. Desconecte la palanca para trabar el asientoen la posici6n.
VERIFIQUE LA BATERIA1. Levante el asiento a la posici6n elevadaAVlSO: Siesta bateria esta utilizada despuesdel mes y aflo indicado sobre la etiqueta (L) (laetiqueta que se encuentra entre los terminales),cargue la bateria por un minimo de una horaa 6-10 amps. AVlSO: Ahora puede rodar o conducir su trac-tor fuera de la corredera. Siga las siguientesinstrucciones para remover el tractor de la_redera.

6. Tome la Ilave de la bolsa y arranque el mo-tor. (Ver "PARA ARRANCAR EL MOTOR"en el capitulo de Manejo de este manual).Despues de poner en marcha el motormover la palanca del gas en posici6n neu-tra.
7. Quitar el freno de mano.8. Presione lentamente el pedal de mando
hacia adelante y guiar el tractor fuera de laplataforma.
9. Actuar sobre el freno para parar el tractor ycolocar el freno de mano.
10. Girar la Ilave de encendido en la posici6n"STOP".
Continuar con las siguientes instrucciones.

SEGURIDAD
La operaci6n de cualquier tractor puede hacer que salten objetos extraflos dentrode sus ojos, Io que puede producir daflos graves en estos. Siempre use anteojosde seguridad o protecciones para los ojos mientras opere su tractor o cuandohaga ajustes o reparaciones. Recomendamos gafas de seguridad o una mascarade visi6n amplia de seguridad usada sobre las gafas.
COMO USAR SU TRACTOR
PARA AJUSTAR EL FRENO DE ESTAClONA-MIENTOSu tractor viene equipado con un interruptorsensor que exige la presencia del operador.Cuando el motor est& funcionando, si el op-erador trata de bajarse del asiento sin primeroaplicar el freno de estacionamiento, se apagar&el motor.1. Presione el pedal del freno (B) completa-
mente y sostengalo.2. Jale hacia arriba la palanca del freno de
mano (C) y mantengala en esa posici6n;suelte gradualmente el pedal del freno (B),y luego suelte la palanca del freno de mano.AsegOrese que el freno de estacionamientova a sujetar el tractor en forma segura.
AVlSO:Si no se mueve la palanca de mandoentre la posici6n de velocidad media y m&xima(r&pida), antes de pararse, se puede causar un"retorno de llama" del motor.• Gire la Ilave de ignici6n (F) a la posici6n
de apagado "STOP" y remueva la Ilave alabandonar el tractor para evitar el uso noautorizado.
, Nunca use la estrangulaci6n (N) para pararel motor.
IMPORTANTE: Dejando el interruptor de laignici6n en cualquier posici6n otra que "STOP"causar i que la bateria se descargue (muerta).AVlSO: Bajo ciertas condiciones, cuando eltractor est& parado con el motor andando envacio, los gases de escape del motor calientepueden hacer que el cesped se ponga "cafe."Para eliminar esta posibitidad, siempre pareel motor cuando pare el tractor en &reas concesped.

UTILIZAR EL MANDO CRUCEROEl mando crucero se puede utilizar s61o durantela marcha hacia adetante.CARACTERfSTICAS TI_CNICAS
El control de velocidad crucero s61o debeusarse mientras el tractor este en labores desiega o transportaci6n, moviendose sobresuperficies que esten relativamente planas yrectas.Otras condiciones de trabajo, como la poda,que requiere velocidades bajas, podriandesengranar el control de velocidad crucero.No emplee el control de velocidad cruceromientras el tractor se desplaza por elevaciones,terrenos escarpados o mientras el tractor esteen labores de poda o virando.1. Con el pedal (K) de marcha adelante
apretado a la velocidad deseada, mover lapalanca de mando de crucero hacia adel-ante hasta la posici6n "SET" y mantenerlamientras se levanta el pie del pedal, luegosoltar la palanca (J) de mando de crucero.
Para desconectar el mando de crucero, epujar la palanca hacia atr&s en la posici6n"OFF", o apretar completamente el pedal delfreno.
PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE DELA SEGADORALa posici6n de la palanca elevadora (A) deter-mina a que altura se cortar& el cesped.
, Coloque la palanca elevadora en la ranurade la altura deseada.
, Deslice el puntero de se_alizaci6n (T) hastaesa altura, de modo de recordarla la pr6ximavez que corte el cesped.
La gama de la altura de corte es de aproxima-damente 1 a 4 pulgadas. Las alturas se midendesde el suelo a la punta de la cuchilla cuandoel motor no est& funcionando. Estas alturasson aproximadas y pueden variar dependi-endo de las condiciones del suelo, de la alturadel cesped y del tipo del cesped que se estasegando., El cesped promedio debe cortarse aproxima-
damente a 2-1/2 pulgadas durante la tem-porada fria y sobre 3 pulgadas durante losmeses calurosos. Para obtener un cespedm&s saludable y de mejor apariencia, sieguea menudo y despues de un crecimientomoderado.
, Para obtener el mejor rendimiento de corte,el cesped que tiene m&s de 6 pulgadas dealtura debe segarse dos veces. Haga elprimer corte relativamente alto; el segundo ala altura deseada.
PARA AJUSTAR LAS RUEDAS CALIBRADO-RASLas ruedas calibradoras est&n bien ajustadascuando se encuentran un poco a distancia delterreno al mismo tiempo que la segadora estea la altura de corte deseada. Entonces las rue-das calibradoras mantienen el conjunto segadoren posici6n para prevenir el corte raspeo encasi todos los terrenos.AVlSO: Ajuste las ruedas calibradoras con eltractor en una superficie nivelada plana.1. Ajuste la segadora a la altura de corte
deseada con la manilla de ajuste de altura(Vea "PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DECORTE DE LA SEGADOR,_' en la secci6nde Operaci6n de este manual).
2. Con la segadora a la altura deseada para laposici6n de corte, se tienen que montar lasruedas calibradoras de modo que quedenun poco sobre el suelo. Instale las ruedascalibradoras en el agujero adecuado con elperno con resalto, la arandela de 3/8, y latuerca de seguridad de 3/8-16 y aprietelosen forma segura.
3. Repita el procedimiento para el ladoopuesto instalando la rueda calibradora enel mismo agujero de ajuste.

5. Cuando el uso del ROS es m&s necesario,de vuelta a la Ilave de ignici6n en el sentidode las agujas del reloj hasta la posici6n"ON".

PARA OPERAR EN CERROS_ADVERTENOIA: No maneje hacia arriba ohacia abajo en cerros con pendientes superio-res a 15° y no maneje atravesando ningunapendiente. Utilice la guia de la pendienteproporcionada en la parte posteriora de estemanual.• Escoja la velocidad m&s lenta antes de ar-
rancar hacia arriba o hacia abajo en cerros.• Evite parar o cambiar la velocidad en cerros.. Si es absolutamente necesario el parar,
empuje el pedal de freno r&pidamente a laposici6n de freno y enganche el freno deestacionamiento.
. Para volver a empezar con el movimiento,suelte lentamente, el freno de estaciona-miento y el pedal de freno.
• Apretar despacio el pedal apropiado hasta laposici6n m&s lenta.
. Gire siempre lentamente.
FUNClONAMIENTO ATRASTu tractor est& equipado con el Sistema deFuncionamiento Atr&s (ROS). Cualquiertentativa del operador de viajar marcha atr&scon el embrague puesto apagar& el motor amenos que la Ilave de ignici6n se ponga en laposici6n de "ON" del ROS.ATENOION: Ir marcha [email protected] el embraguepuesto para cortar, no es recomendable.Poniendo el ROSen posici6n "ON", parapermitir el funcionamiento [email protected] elembrague puesto, se tiene que hacer s61ocuando el operador Io considera necesariopara reposicionar la [email protected] el dispositivoembragado. No siegue en rev@s a menoe quesea absolutamente neceeario.USAR EL SISTEMA DE FUNCIONAMIENTOATRAS -
Utilice el tractor solamente si est& seguro deque no ingresar&n ni5os ni otras personaso animales al &rea donde se va a cortar el
[email protected]. Presionar el pedal freno hasta el fondo.2. Con el motor en marcha, girar la Ilave del
interruptor de la ignici6n en el sentidoinverso al de las agujas del reloj hasta laposici6n "ON".
3 Mire hacia abajo y hacia atras no s61oantes de ir marcha [email protected],sino mientras esteyendo marcha [email protected].
4. Presione lentamente el pedal reverso de laimpulsi6n para comenzar el movimiento. 44
PARA TRANSPORTARCuando empuje o arrastre su tractor asegOresede desenganchar la transmisi6n poniendoel control de la rueda libre en la posici6n demarcha de rueda libre. El control de marcha derueda libre esta situado en la barra de tracci6ntrasera del tractor.1. Levante la palanca de levantamiento del ac-
cesorio a la posici6n m&s alta con el controlde levantamiento del accesorio.
2. Tire del mando de la rueda libre haciaafuera y hacia abajo hasta que se coloqueen la guia y su@ltalo de manera que se man-tenga en la posici6n de desenganchada.
. No empuje o arrastre el tractor a m&s de dos(2) MPH.
. Para volver a accionar la transmisi6n, inviertaeste procedimiento.

Use sentido comOn cuado este remolcando.Las cargas pesadas, cuando este yendo sobreuna pendiente, son peligrosas, las Ilantas pu-eden perder su tracci6n con el terreno y puedenocasionar que pierda el control de su tractor.
MEOANISMO DE AVISO DE SERVICIO /CRON6METROEl mecanismo de aviso de servicio muestra elnL_mero total de horas que ha estado en funcio-namiento el motor, y se enciende y se apaga demanera intermitente cuando el motor o la cor-tadora necesitan servicio. Cuando se requiereservicio, el mecanismo de aviso de servicio seenciende y se apaga intermitentemente por unlapso de dos horas. Para hacerles el servicioal motor y a la cortadora, lea el capitulo deMantenimiento de este manual.NOTA: El dispositivo de aviso de serviciofunciona cuando la Ilave de ignici6n o arranquese encuentra en cualquier posici6n menosen "STOP" ("PARE"). A fin de garantizar laprecisi6n de la lectura, asegQrese de que elarranque permanezca en la posici6n "STOP"cuando el motor este apagado.
ANTES DE HACER ARRANCAR ELMOTOR
REVISE EL NIVEL DE ACEITE DEL MOTOREl motor en su tractor ha sido enviado desde laf&brica Ileno con aceite de calidad para verano.1. Revise el aceite del motor con el tractor en
terreno nivelado.2. Remueva la tapa/varilla indicadora de nivel
de relleno del aceite y limpielas, vuelvaa insertar la varilla indicadora de nivel yatornille la tapa hasta que quede apre-tada, espere por unos cuantos segundos,remu6vala y lea el nivel del aceite. Si esnecesario, agregue aceite hasta que sehaya alcanzado la marca Ileno (FULL) enla varilla indicadora de nivel. No Io Ilenedemasiado.
, Para la operaci6n en clima frio, debe cambiarel aceite para poder arrancar m&s f&cilmente(Vea "Tabla de Viscosidad Del Aceite" en lasecci6n de Mantenimento de este manual).
, Para cambiar el aceite del motor, vea la sec-ci6n de Mantenimento en este manual.
AGREGUE GASOLINA, Llene el estanque de combustible. Llene has-
ta la parte inferior del cuello de relleno detestanque de gasolina. No Io Ilene demasiado.Use gasolina regular, sin plomo, nueva y lim-pia con el minimo de 87 octanos. (El uso degasotina con plomo aumentar& los dep6sitosde 6xido de plomo y carbono y se reducir& laduraci6n de la v&lvula). No mezcle el aceitecon la gasolina. Para asegurar que la gaso-lina utilizada sea fresca compre estanqueslos cuales puedan ser utilizados durante los
,_primeros 30 dias.PREOAUOION: Limpie el aceite o el com-
bustible derramado. No almacene, derrame ouse gasolina cerca de una llama expuesta.IMPORTANTE: Cuando se opere en temperatu-ras por debajo de 32°F (0°C) use gasolina deinvierno limpia y nueva para auedar a asegurarun buen arranque en clima frio.PREOAUOION: Combustibles mezclados conalcohol (conocidos como gasohol, o el uso deetanol o metanol) pueden atraer la humedad,la que conduce a la separaci6n y formaci6n de&cidos durante el almacenamiento. La gasolinaacidica puede daflar el sistema del combustiblede un motor durante el almacenamiento. Paraevitar los problemas con el motor, se debe vaci-ar el sistema de combustible antes de guardarlopor un periodo de 30 dias o m&s. Vacie elestanque de combustible, haga arrancar elmotor y h&galo funcionar hasta que las lineasdel combustible y el carburador queden vacios.La pr6xima temporada use combustible nuevo.Vea las Instrucciones para el AImacenamientopara m&s informaci6n. Nunca use productos delimpieza para el motor o para el carburador enel estanque del combustible pues se puedenproducir daflos permanentes.
PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTORAI hacer arrancar el motor por la primera vez osi se ha acabado el combustible del motor, senecesitar& tiempo para el arranque extra paramover el combustible desde el estanque hastael motor.1. AsegOrese que el control de rueda libre
este en la posici6n enganchada.2. Sientase en el sitl6n en la posici6n de
operaci6n, suelte el pedal del freno y pongael freno de estacionamiento.

ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO TEMPLADO (50 °Y MAS)7. Cuando arranque el motor, empuje el con-
trol de la estrangulaci6n hasta que el motorempiece a funcionar m_.s suavemente. Siel motor empieza a funcionar mal, estiredel control de la estrangulaci6n un pocopor unos cuantos segundos y entoncescontinue a empujar lentamente el control.
• Los accesorios y el embrague de sueloahora puede ser utilizados. Si el motor noacepta esta carga, vuelva a arrancar el motorpara permitirle que se caliente por un minuto,utilizando el estrangulador como describidoarriba.
ARRANQUE CON TIEMPO FR[O (50° YMENOS)7. Cuando arranque el motor, empuje lenta-
mente el control de la estrangulaci6n haciaadentro hasta que el motor empiece afuncionar suavemente. Siga empujandolopoco a poco permitiendo que el motor aceptepequefios cambios de velocidad y carga,hasta que este completamente hacia aden-tro. Si el motor empieza a funcionar mal, es-tire del control de la estrangulaci6n un pocopor unos cuantos segundos y continQe aempujar el control hacia adentro. Esto puederequerir que el motor se caliente por unoscuantos minutos, depende de la temperatura.
CALENTAMIENTO PARA LA TRANSMISIONAUTOMATICA
Antes de conducir la unidad en un tiempo frio,la transmisi6n debe ser calentada como lasinstrucciones siguientes:1. AsegQrese que el tractor este situado en
una superficie nivelada.2. Alivie el freno de estacionamiento y deje

2. Desenganche la transmisi6n poniendo elcontrol de rueda libre en la posici6n dedesenganchado (Vea "PARA EL TRANS-PORTE" en esta secci6n de este manual).
3. Sentado en el asiento del tractor, empieceel motor. Despues que este corriendo elmotor, mueva el control de estrangulaci6na la posici6n de lento. Quitar el freno demano.

PARA DESMONTAR LA CORTADORADE CESPED1. Suelte el embrague poniendolo en la
posici6n "DISENGAGED" CDESACTIVA-DO").
2. Baje la palanca elevadora de montaje a laposici6n de m&s abajo.
3. Ruede la correa de polea del motor (M).4. Retire el resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslice
la abrazadera (L) hasta quitarla, y saque apresi6n la guia de la caja (P) hasta que sesalga del soporte.
5. Retire el resorte del cable del embrague(Q) det brazo del engranaje (R).
6. Desconecte la pieza de uni6n anterior (E)de la cortadora - retire el resorte de con-tenci6n y la arandela.
7. Pot uno de los lados de la cortadora,desconecte el brazo de suspensi6n dela cortadora (A) del chasis y la pieza deuni6n posterior (C) de la barra posterior dela cortadora (D) - retire los resortes de con-tenci6n y las arandelas.
8. Por el otto lado de la cortadora, desconecteel brazo de suspensi6n y la pieza de uni6nposterior.
_,CUIDADO: Una vez que se desconectenlas piezas de uni6n posteriores, la palanca el-evadora funcionar& a resorte. Sujete con fuerzala palanca elevadora al cambiarla de posici6n.9. Deslice la cortadora per debajo del lado
derecho del tractor.IMPORTANTE: Si se monta un accesorio dife-rente del cortacesped al tractor, hay que quitarel estribo frontal (E) y los estribos traseros deelevaci6n (C) del tractor y enganchar el resortede embrague (Q) en la guia del cable en elborde frontal del salpicadero m&s bajo.
INSTALE LA SEGADORAAsegQrese de que el tractor se encuentre enuna superficie nivelada, y ponga el freno demane.1. Haga descender la palanca elevadora a su

3. FIJE LOS BRAZOS DE SUSPENSIONLATERALES DE LA CORTADORA (A)AL CHASlS - Ubique el orificio del brazoencima de la clavija (B) que hay en la parteexterior del chasis del tractor, y fijelo conuna arandela y un resorte de contenci6n.
4. Realice el mismo procedimiento en el otrolado del tractor.
7. FIJE LA PIEZA DE UNION ANTERIOR (E)- Trabaje por el lado izquierdo del tractor.Introduzca el extremo de la barra de lapieza de uni6n por el orificio anterior de labarra de suspensi6n anterior del tractor (F),y sujetelo por medio de un resorte de con-tenci6n (G) a traves del orificio de la piezade uni6n ubicada detr_.s de la barra.
8. Introduzca el otto extremo de la pieza deuni6n (E) en el orificio que se encuentra enla barra anterior de la cortadora (H), y fijelopor medio de una arandela y un resorte decontenci6n (J).
5. FIJE LAS PIEZAS DE PROPULSION POS-TERtORES (C) - Levante la parte posteriorde la cortadora, ubique la ranura de la piezade uni6n por encima de la clavija que hayen la barra posterior de la cortadora (D)y fijela con una arandela y un resorte decontenci6n.
6. Realice el mismo procedimiento en el otrolado del tractor.

9. Retire el resorte de sujeci6n (K), deslicela abrazadera (L) hasta quitarla, y saque apresi6n la guia de la caja (P) hasta que sesalga del soporte.
10. Retire el resorte del cable del embrague (Q)del brazo del engranaje (R).
11. Instale la correa pasandola pot encima de lapolea del embrague del motor (M).
IMPORTANTE: Verifique que la correa encajebien en todas las ranuras de las poleas de lacortadora.

12. Suba la palanca elevadora a la posici6n dem&s arriba.
13. Si es necesario, ajuste las rueditas delcalibre antes de poner en funcionamiento lacortadora, como se ilustra en el capitulo deManejo de este manual.
PARA NIVELAR LA SEGADORA
AsegQrese de que los neum&ticos esten infla-dos a la PSi que se indica en estos. Si est&ndemasiado inflados o poco inflados, el cespedno le quedar& bien cortado, Io cual podr&Ilevarlo a pensar que la SEGADORA no est&bien regulada.REGULACION VISUAL DE LADO A LADO1. REGULACION DE LA PRECiSiON DE LADOA LADO1. Con todos los neum&ticos correctamente in-
flados, estacione el tractor a nivel del sueloo en la entrada a la casa.
CUIDADO: Las cuchillas son afiladas. Pro-tejase las manes con guantes o envuelva lascuchillas con tela gruesa, o bien haga ambascosas.
2. Suba la SEGADORA a la posici6n m&s alta.3. A ambos lados de la cortadora, ubique la
cuchilla hacia un lado y mida la distancia(A) que hay entre el borde inferior de lacuchilla y el suelo. Dicha distancia debe serla misma a ambos lados.

ajuste, lea los pasos 2 y 3 de las instruc-clones de Regulaci6n visual que aparecenmas arriba.
5. Vuelva a verificar las medidas y ajustenuevamente, en caso necesario, hasta queambos lades queden iguales.
AJUSTE DE DELANTE A ATRAS
IMPORTANTE: El piso debe quedar bien nive-lado de lado a lado.Para que el cesped le quede perfectamentecortado, las cuchillas de la cortadora debenajustarse de tal manera que la punta anteriorquede 1/8" a 1/2" mas abajo que la punta pos-terior cuando la cortadora se encuentre en suposici6n m&s alta.CUIDADO: Las cuchillas son afiladas. Pro-
tejase las manos con guantes o envuelva lascuchillas con tela gruesa, o bien haga ambascosas.
, Suba la SEGADORA a la posici6n m&s alta.• Ubique cualquiera de las hojas de la cuchilla
de tal manera que la punta quede apuntandodirectamente hacia adelante. Mida la distan-cia (B) que hay entre la punta anterior y elsuelo y entre la punta posterior y el suelo.

, Si la punta anterior de la hoja de la cuchillano est& 1/8" a 1/2" m&s abajo que la puntaposterior, dirijase a la parte de adelante deltractor.
• Con una Ilave inglesa de 11/16"o de calibreregulable, afloje la tuerca A, d&ndole variasvueltas para despejar la tuerca de ajuste B.
• Con una Ilave inglesa de 3/4" o de calibreregulable, haga girar la tuerca de ajuste de lapieza de uni6n anterior (B) en sentido horario(ajustar) para elevar la parte de adelante dela cortadora, o bien en sentido antihorario(aflojar) para bajarla.
MONTAJE DE LA CORREA DE TRANSMISIONDE LA SEGADORA
1. Instale la correa pas&ndola alrededor de laspoleas (R) y alrededor de las poleas (S),como se muestra en la figura.
2. Pase la correa por encima de la polea delembrague electrico (M).
IMPORTANTE: Verifique que la correa calcebien en todas las ranuras de las poleas de lacortadora.3. Suba la palanca elevadora a la posici6n de

PARA REEMPLAZAR LA CORREA DETRANSMISION DE LA CUCHILLA DE LASEGADORADESMONTAJE DE LA CORREA DE TRANS-MISION DE LA SEGADORA
1. Estacione el tractor en una superficie nive-lada. Ponga el freno de mano.
2. Baje la palanca elevadora a la posici6n dem&s abajo.
3. Quite toda suciedad y restos de hierbas quepueda haberse acumulado alrededor delos dispositivos de recolecci6n y de toda lasuperficie superior.
4. Retire la correa de la polea del embragueelectrico (M), las dos poleas de los disposi-tivos de recolecci6n (R) y las poleas de lospiflones (S).

3. Jale Ia correa hacia ta parte de atr&s dettractor. Con mucho cuidado, mueva tacorrea hacia abajo y p&seta alrededor detventilador de transmisi6n y por encima de Iapolea de entrada (D). Cerci6rese de que Iacorrea este calzada dentro det guardacor-rea.
4. Cotoque Ia correa sobre et pifl6n central(C).
5. Pase Ia correa a traves del pifl6n estaciona-rio (A) y det pifl6n det embrague (B).

5. Instale Ia SEGADORA (Ver "PARA MON-TAR LA SEGADOR,_' en este capituto deImanual).
Las ruedas traseras tiene que bloquearse y pa-tinar cuando se intenta empujar hacia adetanteel tractor manualmente. Si las ruedas traserasgiran, es necesario ajustar el freno o sustituirlas zapatas.
IMPRESI6N / INCLINACI6N DE LAS RUE=DAS DELANTERASLa impresi6n e inclinaci6n de las ruedas del-anteras de su nuevo tractor vienen asi de f&bri-ca y son normales. La impresi6n y la inclinaci6nde las ruedas delanteras no son regulables. Encaso que se produzca algQn daflo que afectela impresi6n o la inclinaci6n de las ruedas del-anteras tal como vinieron de f&brica, p6ngaseen contacto con un centro de servicios Sears uotro centro de servicios autorizado.
PARA REMOVER LAS RUEDAS PARAHACER REPARACIONES1. BIoquee el eje en forma segura.2. Remueva la cubierta del eje, el anillo de
retenci6n y las arandelas para permitir laremoci6n de las ruedas (la rueda traseracontiene una Ilave cuadrada - no la pierda).
3. Repare la Ilanta y vuelvala a montar.AVlSO: En las ruedas traseras solamente:alinee las ranuras en el cubo de la ruedatrasera en el eje. Inserte la Ilave cuadrada.4. Vuelva a colocar las arandelas e inserte el
anillo de retenci6n en forma segura en laranura del eje.
5. Vuelva a colocar la cubierta del eje.AVlSO: Para arreglar las Ilantas perforadasy pera prevenir que tenga Ilantas pinchadas acausa de pequehas fugas, comprar de su com-merciante Sears y utilizar el sello para Ilantas.Elsello previene que las Ilantas se sequen ytambien la corrosi6n.
CONTROLAR Y AJUSTAR EL FRENO
Si el tractor exige m&s de cinco (5) pies parapararse a una velocidad m&s alta en el cambiom&s alto en una superficie nivelada de hor-mig6n seco o pavimentada, entonces se debecontrolar y ajustar el freno.CONTROL DEL FRENO
1. Aparcar el tractor en una superficie niveladade hormig6n seco o pavimentada, presionarel pedal del freno hasta el fondo y accionarel freno de estacionamiento.
2. Desembragar la transmisi6n colocandoel mando de la rueda libre en la posici6n"transmisi6n desembragada". Tirar elmando de la rueda libre fuera y dentro laranura y soltar asi se coloca en la posici6ndesembragada.

Antes de instalar la bateria remueva laspulseras de metal, los relojes de pulsera demetal, los anillos, etc.El terminal positivo tiene que conectarse prim-ere para evitar las chispas debido a la conexi6na tierra por accidente.1. 4. Primero, conecte el cable de la bateriaROJO (B) con el terminal positivo (+) conel perno hexagonal y la tuerca seg_nse muestra. Aprietelos en forma segura.Deslize la cubierta terminal (C) sobre elterminal.

luces delanteras.3. P&rese delante del tractor. Agarre el cap6
en los lados, inclinelo un poco hacia el mo-tor y s&quelo del tractor.
4. Para volver a instalar el cap6, aseg_rese devolver a conectar el conector del alambrede las luces.

MOTOREl mantenimiento, la reparaci6n, o el reemplazode cualquier dispositivos o sistemas del controlde la emisi6n, los cuales sean hechos al costodel cliente, pueden ser realizados por cualquierindividuo o establecimiento de reparaci6n demotor. Los reparos que caen bajo garantiadeben set realizados por un establecimiento deservicio de reparaci6n de motor autorizado.PARA AJUSTAR EL CABLE DE CONTROLDE LA ACELERACI6N
El control de la aceleraci6n ha sido preajustadoen la f&brica y no deberia necesitar ajustes.Revise los ajustes que se describen a continu-aci6n, antes de soltar el cable. Si el ajuste esnecesario, proceda segQn Io siguiente:1. Con el motor sin funcionar, mueva la
palanca de control de la aceleraci6n a laposici6n de r&pido.
2. Revise que la cabeza de rotaci6n esteen contra del tope. Si no Io est&, suelte eltornillo de sujeci6n del cable y tire el cablehacia atr&s hasta que la cabeza de rotaci6neste en contra del tope. Apriete el tomillo desujeci6n del cable en forma segura.
PARA AJUSTAR EL CONTROL DE LA ES-TRANGULACl6NEl control de la estrangulaci6n ha sidopreajustado en la f&brica y no deberia necesitarajustes. Revise los ajustes que se describena continuaci6n, antes de soltar el cable. Siel ajuste es necesario, proceda segQn Iosiguiente:1. Con el motor sin funcionar, mueva el control
de la estrangulaci6n (ubicado en el paneldel tablero) a la posici6n de estrangulaci6ncompleta.
2. Suelte la manilla y remueva el conjunto dela cubierta del filtro de aire.
3. La estrangulaci6n debe estar cerrada. Sino Io est&, suelte el tornillo de sujeci6nde la caja y mueva el cable de estrangu-laci6n hasta que la estrangulaci6n quedecompletamente cerrada. Apriete el tornillode sujeci6n de la caja en forma segura.
4. Vuelva a montar el conjunto de la cubiertadel filtro de aire y apriete la manilla.
PARA AJUSTAR EL CARBURADORSu carburador no es ajustable. Si su motor noopera adecuadamente debido a problemassospechados de carburador, Ileve usted su trac-tor a un centro de servicio autorizado para sureparaci6n y/o ajuste.El tope de alta velocidad ha sido ajustado enla f&brica. No Io ajuste - se pueden producirdafios.IMPORTANTE: Nunca manipule el reguladordel motor, el que ha sido ajustado en la f&bricapara la velocidad del motor adecuada. Puedeser peligroso hacer funcionar el motor a unavelocidad por sobre el ajuste de alta velocidadde la f&brica. Si cree que la velocidad alta regu-lada alta regulada del motor necesita ajuste,pongase en contacto con un centro de servicioSears o con un otro centro de servicio cualifica-do, el que cuenta con el equipo adecuado y laexperiencia para hacer los ajustes necesarios.

• Para ayudar a evitar la corrosi6n y las fugasde potencia durante largos periodos dealmacenamiento, se deben desconectarlos cables de la bateria y se debe limpiarcuidadosamente (vea "PARA LIMPIAR LABATER[A Y LOS TERMINALES" en la sec-ci6n de Mantenimientode este manual).
, Despues de limpiarla, deje los cables desco-nectados y p6ngalos en donde no puedanentrar en contacto con los terminales de labateria.
• Si se remueve la bateria del tractor para elalmacenamiento, no la guarde directamentesobre concreto o sobre superficies hOmedas.
MOTORSlSTEMA DE COMBUSTIBLEIMPORTANTE: Es important evitar que seforman depositos de goma en partes funda-mentales del sistema de combus-tible talescomo el carburador, el filtro del combustible,la manguera del combustibles mezclados conalcohol (conocido como gasohol o que tienenetanol o metanol) pueden atraer humedad, Ioque conduce a la separaci6n y a la formaci6nde acudos durante elalmacenamiento. La
gasolina acidica puede dahar el sistema decombustible de un motor durante el periodo dealmacenamiento., Vaciar el dep6sito del carburante poniendo
en marcha el motor y dej_.ndoto funcionarhasta que el carburante termine el carbura-dor este vacio.
, Nunca use los productos para limpieza delcarburador o del motor en el estanque decombustible pues se pueden producir da_ospermanentes.

AVlSO: El estabilizador de combustible es unaalternativa aceptable para reducir a un minimola formaci6n de dep6sitos de goma en el com-bustible durante el periodo de almacenamiento.Agregue estabilizador a la gasolina en elestanque de combustible o en el envase para elalmacenamiento. Siempre siga la proporci6n demezcla que se encuentra en el envase del esta-bilizador. Haga funcionar el motor por Io menos10 minutos despues de agregar el estabitizador,para permitir que este Ilegue al carburador. Novaciar la gasolina del estanque de gasolina y elcarburador si se esta usando estabilizador decombustible.
