East Renfrewshire Muslims Forum (ERMF) & Mosque Update
Don’t miss the forthcoming New East Renfrewhire (Lynn) Muslim Cemetery InaugurationCeremony being organized by WEC, on Sun 17 Aug 2014!
ERMF is a collective platform launched at the first ever ER public meeting organised at WEC on 11 Nov 2013, and represents the united voice of the ER Muslim community, comprising all 3 major ER Muslim community organisations:WEC, East Ren Centre Ltd, Langrig Rd, Newton Mearns, and Iqra Learning Centre, Barrhead. ERMF has been established as part of WEC’s lead proposal to site a future ER Mosque & Community Centre (ERMEC) in the ER Local Development Plan (LDP), for meeting our growing community’s long-term needs. However, ER Council, at its meeting on 29 Jan 2014, has recommended WEC’s second choice site at Maidenhill, Newton Mearns, in place of our preferred Council-owned Capelrig Road/Eastwood site (for which we secured unprecedented ~1000 submissions of support from ER muslim and wider community members, during the Council’s consultation process). WEC will continue to work with its ERMF partners, ER council & our community to secure a cost effective site for addressing our community’s growing needs, including consideration of a WEC extension.
Great News: Shaykh Zain Ul-Abedin Amir (UK qualified Scholar) appointed as full-time WEC Imam!Don’t miss his Daily Inspiring Reminders, after Maghrib jamat (after isha in the summer)+Listen LIVE with your receiver from home!
