POTENTIAL USERS
SAFETY OF USE
The HELMA product line offers several safety devices to protect against endogenous risks.
Shutdown of the system: the first, automatic and inherent safety level
Adjustable power according to expected effect
Fine tracking: a real asset for laser weapons
Eye-safe wavelength or individual protection
Target analysis & LIDAR security
Yields secured operations
HIGH ENERGY LASER, A DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGY FOR A WIDE RANGE OF OPERATIONS
HIGH ACCURACYNO COLLATERAL DAMAGE
The laser weapon is adaptable to all armed forces. It can be used in a variety of situations ranging from security to neutralisation, either for target on the ground or in the air.
Examples of effect• Destruction of UAVs
(within an anti-UAV system)
• Destruction of terrorist boats and drones on all environments (land, air and maritime)
• Interception and destruction of missiles and rockets
• Altering or dazzling of hostile space assets
Examples of effect• Destruction of IEDs
(improved explosive devices)
• Destruction of trap wires
• Triggering of primary explosives
• Dazzling of optics and cameras
• Interception of smuggling UAVs

HELMA-XP AVAILABLE IN 2027
The middle power directed energy laser weapon for defence and security applications with 100% hit on C-UAVs
• Developped with ArianeGroup
• Designed to engage on-fly UAV (class I) and asymmetric threats
• Detect, track and neutralise targets
• Protect sensitive civil or military sites, convoys and ships
• Safe system, equipped with a LIDAR
• Stealth solution: silent device and invisible laser beam
• Based on combat proven technologies
• Easy to deploy
HELMA-P is adaptable on vehicles, robots, ships and interoperable with any C2 (Command and Control) systems and BMS (Battle Management System)
The high power directed energy laser weapon in development for defence applications
• Development of the laser source for military applications
• Compact design laser able to quickly and precisely neutralise an agile target i.e. Rocket Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (C-UAV)
• Embedded on different platforms (maritime, land and air systems)
• Coherent beam combination innovative approach to deliver maximum laser power density onto the target
As part of the studies on HELMA-XP, CILAS leads a European consortium called TALOS and is part of the DEW on ships program.
INNOVATIVE LASER WEAPONS BY CILASTo support those missions and to address versatile threats, CILAS has developped a product family of laser weapons.
FOCUSING ON TARGETSThe HELMA product line is able to target fixed and moving systems with extreme accuracy in open field or urban area. The effects range from dazzling of optical sensors to destruction of equipment.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicules (UAV)
Ground robots
Improvised explosive devices (IED) & mines
Soft targets (tent canvas, ammunition
boxes, barrels)
Radars and optical sensors
Rocket Artillery and Mortar (RAM)

A WORD FROM THE CEO«Our challenge is to develop the full potential of the laser weapon for which we have been investing significantly for several years with the support of the French Procurement DGA and the Inno-vative Defence Agency with concrete results. The time has come to ensure the ramp-up of our work by investing in programs that will enable us to move from the world of demonstrators to pro-duction, particularly for the fight against UAVs, and that will se-cure our European positioning. »
Pierre FAUCOUP
HIGH ENERGY LASER, A FRENCH AND EUROPEN CHALLENGE
A WORD FROM THE FRENCH MINISTER OF THE ARMED FORCES
«The eminently strategic nature of CILAS will become even more important with the emergence of laser weapons. In the short term, these laser weapons already have a role to play in the field of UAV control. In the medium term, the role of laser weapons will be expanded to further protect our forces against threats. For several years now, CILAS has been awarded a Research & Technology contract by the French Defence Procurement Agency to enable it to de-sign and develop the first technological building blocks that will be needed tomorrow to develop high-powered lasers capable of intercepting missiles on their trajectory.»
