PRESIDENT’S NOVEMBER 2019 MESSAGE

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

Well, it looks like our local fire personnel are big time heroes. When I woke up Thursday morning and found the power out, I immediately turned on my ham radio to find that there was a fire behind the homes on Merrill Drive. They were in need of cream and sugar for their coffee. I jumped in my car and delivered what they needed. By that time the fire was basically out, but the winds were so high up on the ridge that many of the fire personnel remained to watch for hot spots. There were firefighters from all over the Bay Area here to help. It was incredible. We even had a caterer come all the way from Santa Cruz who brought 250 breakfast burritos, more coffee, and orange juice, for the people there. At around 9:00 AM the wind picked up at the Command Center on Merrill Drive, but, thanks to the efforts of the firefighters, the concern was minimal. Please make an effort to come to our November 11th dinner to help honor and thank these amazing men and women.

At our last Board of Directors meeting someone came up with the idea of having an Oktoberfest with beer and brats. If you like the idea, please mention it a Board member or send me a message. The annual BBQ was such a huge success this year that we thought this could be another very fun event. I heard that the most we have ever had at a BBQ in the past was around 80 people. This year we had over 120 people. It was great!! Think about it for next year if you missed it. The weather was a little cooler than last year, but not nearly as bad as it has been at the other courtyard location. I think we have a winning location for all future BBQs.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the next dinner!

Sincerely,

Keith

November’s program will be extra special this year because we will be hearing from police and fire personnel from all three communities. It is our way of honoring their service and offering protection for all of us. It is also an opportunity to hear from the departments of all three communities.

THE LEGEND OF GEORGIA McBRIDE is a gender-defying, sweet and campy, hilarious, and heartfelt celebration of divas and difference! Can a young Elvis impersonator transform himself into a platform-pump-panty-hose-wearing drag queen? In a wild flurry of costume magic and lip sync coaching, “Georgia McBride” is born - a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll.
