with distribution spanning across all corners

of the globe, "saving ordinary humans from

themselves TM", regardless of their mailing address.

The humour and irreverence of the evo® brand

coupled with the quality of the product range is

really cutting through overseas.

Along with Hong Kong, Belgium, and Germany

2012 saw evo® put its stamp on the hair care

market in South Africa. The South African evo®

launch, managed by new distributor Alwyn Van

Wyk was held at the Neighbourgoods Market in

Braamfontein (Johannesburg) on the morning of

Monday 8 October 2012. The outdoor market

was colourfully decorated with flamingos,

toadstools and gnomes, and a variety of fun

and interesting snacks were on offer, including

Coke bottles filled with milk, and pancakes and

waffles made to order.

Grant Norton, evo® Education Director presented

the evo® range and educated hairdressers and

media on the diversity of looks which could be

created with the compact 36 product range.

Alwyn Van Wyk explained to attendees that he had

been looking for a range to import for the past two

years, but that it had been difficult to find one that

stood out and did things differently; that was until

he discovered evo®.

“It (evo®) is sulphate-free, paraben-free, propylene

glycol-free, and has a fun slant to its marketing,

packaging and naming, making it refreshingly

different in an industry where a lot of products are

very much the same.” said Alwyn.

FEATURES

For the first time at Portsea Polo, Moroccanoil

hosted a Pamper Lounge for all VIP and Corporate

guests. The Pamper Lounge featured 3 styling

stations for guests to receive styling advice and

hair touch ups throughout the day. Moroccanoil

Educator, Violet Sainsbury, along with a three

person stylist team were on hand to answer

questions about the brand and products as well as

style some lucky guests.

Guests who visited the pamper marquee

were also given the opportunity to sample

and experience the Moroccanoil products first

hand as well as walk away with their very own

Moroccanoil gift bag.

Q: Will swimming affect my tan?

A: Swimming in chlorinated water or salt water can fade the

Creative Director Hair, Renya Xydis created a

textured, playful and relaxed ponytail to complement

the collection in a romantic journey where masculinity

Renya lead a team of over 15 talented and

energetic British and Australian hairdressers

who styled the hair of 30 top international

fashion models, including British model Cara

Delevingne who walked for Carolina Herrera

and Marc Jacobs at NYFW.

submission where they created a catwalk look

icon Twiggy, Alison Mosshart, Poppy Delevigne

Micro wAndstep by step

FINAL LOOK

1. Prepare hair with the Cloud Nine revolution

dry and section hair into pattern shown. Clip the

top and side sections away and take an angled

horizontal section at the nape of the neck to begin,

as shown in the sectioning pattern.

Set The Micro Wand to MEDIUM.

2. Wrap the hair around the Micro Wand from the

roots to the mid-lengths, leaving the ends out. Set for

5 seconds or until heat moves through to the outside

of the hair and gently release from Micro Wand.

3. Take the following angled section so that it

slightly overlaps the previous one in a ‘herringbone

pattern’. Repeat curling technique, wrap over or

under The Micro Wand when desired to create a

difference in the curl.

7. Shake curls loose with hands and dress out

with a volume powder for texture and shape. This

creates a deconstructed curl with a modern, raw

feel to the ends of the hair.

4. Set the back of the hair and then move to the

side sections and repeat process.

5. At the front of the hairline, wrap away from the face.

Once the back and sides are set, set with a light hold

working spray and continue to the crown section.

6. Continue the same herringbone pattern on the

top of the head until all hair is set, starting at the

crown and working towards the front hairline.

1. Spray hair with a light hold working spray and

brush through with a bristle brush. Section the hair

from temple to temple and clip the top of the hair

away. Set the Waving Wand to MEDIUM.

2. Starting from the nape and working up the head in

large 8cm horizontal sections, wrap hair around the

Waving Wand from root to tip, wait 8-10 seconds

and gently release. Leave curls as they fall to cool.

3. Continue this up the head, working from side to

side until you reach the crown. Section out an 8cm

rectangular section from the front hairline to the

crown. Finish setting any hair left out of this section.

4. Once you reach the top, take horizontal sections

starting at the crown and working towards the front

hairline. Set and leave curls in a barrel formation. Mist

hair with hairspray and let cool completely.

5. Brush hair out and mould hair into desired parting.

Hair will form into glossy, moulded waves.

The Look:Gabriele Trezzi used Moroccanoil products to create a look that was chic and feminine, to highlight the

elegance of the clothes in perfect harmony with the spirit of the collection. The hair was gathered softly at

the back in to a low ponytail with a slight touch of volume on top of the head and then tied at the nape of

the neck in a very special slip knot.

Step 1: Before beginning the styling process, apply

a small amount of Moroccanoil Treatment Light to

achieve a soft base that is naturally healthy and shiny.

Step 2: Next, apply Moroccanoil Curl Control

Mousse, this is a fantastic product for creating

base and structure. Dry the hair carefully with a

hairdryer and Moroccanoil Ionic Ceramic Brush.

Step 3: Once the hair is completely dry, spray the

entire head of hair with Moroccanoil Luminous

Hairspray, an extraordinary product that guarantees

hold while, at the same time, allows you to work

the hair the way you want to.

Step 4: With the base now ready, begin to create

the hairstyle first, make a deep parting on the left

side and divide the hair into three sections. With a

medium iron, curl the hair into intense waves. Then

brush it all to create a soft and sensual effect.

Step 5: To create volume at the back of the head,

back-comb the hair just above the nape with rapid

yet light movements, fixing it all with Moroccanoil

Luminous Hairspray. The aim is to achieve a

pleasing contrast: sexy and soft at the back,

rigid and precise at the front. Complete the look

by gathering the hair into a low ponytail, soft yet

structured, letting it fall backwards in soft waves.

Step 6: Next, work at the front keeping the hair

flat and smooth, pulling the longest curls of

hair back to cover the ears. Spray Moroccanoil

Luminous Hairspray Medium to achieve

necessary strength to hold the look in place.

Step 7: As a final touch, secure the look using

Dani Blakeley along with the Lakmé National

Technical Team, travelled around Australia sharing

their inspiration and passion for Lakmé colour

and showcasing the tips and tricks on how to

recreate the looks from this innovative Collection.

Dani Blakeley offered an exclusive tutorial to

Lakmé stylists, guiding them through each of the

four collective looks with onstage models and

mannequin heads.

Dani also offered a workshop around the country,

where stylists were given the opportunity to

recreate the Spring Summer looks on their very

own mannequin head. Dani guided the stylist

through the cut and colour and provided rare

insight into the techniques and tools required to

create these innovative looks.

The Lakmé Breeze Collection showcased an array of soft, chalk like pastels influenced by nature’s Spring Summer colour palette. The four distinctive looks offered a variety within the Collection theme, taking the Spring Summer fashion trends and making them relevant for today’s hairdresser.

Making her way around the country, Renya

commenced the festivities in Brisbane, making

her way through her home town of Sydney, then

Melbourne, with the final show in Adelaide. Well

attended by hairdressers of all calibres from

apprentices right through to senior stylists, the

VIP show was a tribute to Renya’s career as an

editorial and celebrity stylist, showcasing looks

from the runway and published works.

Beginning her stellar career in the 1980s, Renya

started out like any other aspirational hairdresser,

completing her apprenticeship in Sydney and was

privileged to work with Eugene Souleiman, Kerry

Warn and Sam McKnight. A combination of talent,

hard work and tenacity has formed the foundation

for where Renya finds herself today. Her current

credits include top fashion magazine editorial

stylist, creative director and owner of Australia’s

premier hairdressing salons; Valonz, Salon X and

Renya Xydis City and a list of high profile celebrity

clientele who request Renya by name.

This is the amazing life and career that was shared

on this tour; an intimate introduction to Renya

Xydis, her passions and motivations and the

person behind the reputation. Her warmth and

sincerity shone through her presentations, making

the night both a technical learning experience and

a candid insight into our Cloud Nine Ambassador.
