The Lakewood Grove HOA will be having its annual meeting on Tuesday, May 8th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lakewood Elementary School on Gettysburg Drive. At this meeting there will be a vote taken on the following item:
1. Election of one position to the Lakewood Grove HOA Board of Directors for a 3 year term. The Director position is currently held by Mark Schubert, who has indicated he will not seek re-election for that role. Any other candidates who wish to run for this position should submit their request to Alicia Newby at SCS Management (281-500-7128 (office) or 281-500-7178 (fax) or [email protected]) before May 8th, in order to be added to the printed ballot for the May meeting. You may also submit a biographical profile which will also be included in the ballot. Nominations to the Board position can also be taken from the floor at the meeting.
A quorum, 10% of the resident votes is required in order to meet the election requirements. You should be receiving your notice and proxy in the mail soon. You can bring your proxy to the meeting or submit it directly to SCS Management (postage paid) but must be received prior to the meeting date. You can also have a neighbor that is attending bring it to the meeting. If we do not have at least 10% of the resident’s votes the meeting will be void and consequently will cost us more money to schedule another meeting. If you have questions/concerns regarding your neighborhood, make an effort to have at least one member of your household attend the meeting.
The Board has invited the Harris County Constable’s office to attend and field some of your questions/concerns.
We look forward to seeing you there.Lakewood Grove HOA Board of Directors

In February, we read The Light Between the Oceans by M.L. Steadman, a story of a World War I veteran who comes home to take an assignment on a remote island in his native Australia. He hopes to heal from the brutalities of war only to be challenged by a wonderful circumstance that presents him with a challenging, life altering moral dilemma.
In March, we read Wild! by Cheryl Strayed. This story follows a young woman who suffers from losses in her life, particularly her mother’s untimely death. She survives to triumph over her past through a long walk (over 6 months) along the Pacific Coast Trail. The club enjoyed this book very much and the discussion about it was lively and fun for all. The consensus was that it was a perfect spring break read!
In April, we read “The Chaperone” by Laura Moriarty. A book, about a captivating novel, about the woman who chaperoned an irreverent Louise Brooks to New York City in 1922 and the summer that would change them both. It is readily available at the Harris County Library in digital, audio, and soft cover formats. So, grab a book and join us on April 10, 2013 at 7:00 pm.
The May meeting will find the club selecting books for rest of the year. So, if you have a favorite book we should read, join us and share some titles of books we should read in the summer and fall. We’d love to have you!
For more information, contact Trudi Trainer at [email protected] or Kay Albrecht at [email protected].
