Medication Variance Policy

Variance in medication delivery in a facility is a serious matter. Medication administration must be done with an instructor/preceptor and facility policy adhered to

The incidence of medication errors is the leading cause of patient injury in the health profession. Medication variances that cause these errors can range from incorrect documentation to incorrect administration to the patient. The LSSC Nursing Program places serious importance on this issue. The following policy specifies the types of variations that can occur, lists a score valuing each type variation, and designates a progressive disciplinary plan.
