INTRODUCTION

Dear Woodworker,

Over a quarter of a century ago, Laguna Tools was conceived to introduce European woodworking machines to the North American woodworker. Today we are a leader for others to follow.

Our bandsaws have really evolved over the past decade, and I believe we have the greatest line of saws in the country. When you purchase a Laguna Bandsaw, you get many of the "Laguna Collec�tion" of innovations that make us stand apart from other companies.

Patented Laguna Guides with Space Age TechnologyThe patented Laguna Guides system that comes on every vertical bandsaw gives superior stability by using ten points of contact, four more than traditional guide systems. The Space Age Technol�ogy ceramic has a very low coefficient of friction and does not generate significant heat. The ceramic guide blocks polish the blade and keeps them free from resin build up in the contact area. The guides have great wear resistant and will last for many years. Other companies' blade guides are supported on the sides and above or below the side guides to support the blade, which forces the blade to twist as pressure is transferred back to the blade while the wood is being cut. The Laguna Guides system is designed with no moving parts, and the blade is held above and below the thrust point to ensure there is no buckling.

Cast Iron TablesThe heart of a bandsaw is the table, and every bandsaw we make is manufactured from heavy�duty cast iron; plus, the majority of our saws have a rack and pinion tilt system for accuracy and stability.

MotorsThe majority of our motors are supplied by the American�made Baldor Motor Company, many of which are installed in our warehouse in Irvine. Our Asian�manufactured bandsaws are powered by Leeson Motors. Many of the bandsaws can be custom fit with motors to suit your specific needs.

ResawingMany years ago Torben Helshoj came up with the idea to match the fly wheel size to the resaw capacity. Therefore, many of the saws we produce have more than ample resawing for any wood�worker.

High/Low Fence and Optional Micro�Adjustable Veneer FenceEach of our models, from the LT 14 to the LT 18, come with an easy to change high/low fence system. For fine veneers, we offer our exclusive Drift Master Fence system, designed by Torben Helshoj and ideal for woodworkers who prepare high�end veneers. This is a tool�free fence system�that gives you the ability to make repeated, accurate veneer cuts by using the micro�adjusting handle. The Drift Master is also great for any repetitive cuts beyond veneers.

Easy Blade ChangeAll of our saws are designed by Torben Helshoj, who understands the need for simplicity when it comes to changing blades. Therefore, we have designed our bandsaw line with an easy�change procedure that will not slow down your work.

BladesWe carry the finest line of blades for the ultimate woodworking cuts. Our exclusive Patented Resaw King blade has been designed to significantly reduce sanding time and material waste. Pieces of tough C8 steel are welded onto the Resaw King bandsaw blade and then diamond ground and shaped into thin�kerf teeth; this gives the blade a much longer life and allows the blade to be resharpen up to four times. The Shear Force blade is a high�durability carbon steel blade with a thin kerf and mild set that will help to reduce material waste.

FlywheelsThe flywheels are precision balanced and manufactured with heavy�duty cast iron with an EZ ten�sion indicator, and all of our Asian models are equipped with a spyglass to view the wheel if needed.

Foot BrakeErgonomically designed foot brakes for easy shut off. Most of our bandsaws have foot brakes with built in micro switches that cut power to the motor as well.

Bandsaw FramesAll of our bandsaws are manufactured using steel double box welded construction. This provides the stability and strength for even the toughest cuts.

Mobility KitsEach model, from the LT 14 to the LT 24 Bandsaw, has an available mobility kit that easily and ergo�nomically allows you to position the bandsaw in a workable area within your shop.

Dust CollectionIt is important that your bandsaw remains free from excessive sawdust buildup; therefore, all of our bandsaws are equipped with efficient single or dual dust ports.

LT16 3000 Series

Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

When Torben Helshoj, President and award-winning woodworker, was looking for a new partner to replicate the best selling LT16, he had high expectations. The standards had been set and would not be compromised as every Laguna Tools would have his trademark and pioneering patents. Torben’s idea was to take our best-selling European Band-saws duplicated in Asia and save hundreds of dollars for our customers. While it took many versions and proto-types, the finished product has more benefits and features than its European cousins!

The 18" x 16" cast-iron table is the heart of the LT16 3000 Series, and the substantial 3HP Leeson motor is plenty powerful if you want to cut into logs or slice bookmark veneers. The extensive list of standard features include a foot brake with micro-switch, rack and pinion for the upper post. But that is not all, there are many more to tease you with. LT24 x 24 Bandsaw

When Torben was developing the Laguna line of Bandsaws, he designed the LT24 x 24 with a specific wood�worker in mind, the wood turner. Manu�factured in the northern area of Italy, this beast has two feet of resawing capacity, which is beneficial when you are prepar�ing large bowl blanks. In addition, the significant cast�iron table is capable of handling the wood without obstruction. The LT24 x 24 allows you to have the flexibility of producing work performed on very narrow blades for scroll work but on a much larger machine. This is Torben’s favorite saw because of the versatile performance it allows the woodworker, which is much the same as our best�selling smaller bandsaws but in a larger machine.

Swedish Silicon Steel Bandsaw Blades

Laguna Tools offers a line of bandsaw blades that equals the quality of the fine line of machines that we sell. Our blades are made from tempered Swedish silicon steel, allowing a more flexible band with greater durability. We offer a wide range of sizes and tooth configurations to meet any woodworking need. We make our blades to length in-house. Sold by the inch. When ordering, indicate part number and length. See below for tips on choosing the right blade.

Choosing the Right Blade

Narrow blades will be able to make tighter radius cuts but will tend to wander when making long straight cuts. Wide blades will have a much easier time cutting straight but will not allow you to make tight radiuses. A good rule of thumb is to always use the widest blade that the job requires. The wider blades have more beam strength and will allow higher feed rates and durability. Below is a chart that will show you the radius that you can expect to achieve for each blade size.

The TPI (teeth per inch) of the blade will determine the speed and finish of the cut. Blades with a higher TPI will cut slower but leave a smoother finish. They are best suited for thin stock. Blades with a high TPI have gullets that are more shallow and consequently will fill more easily. As a general rule, it is recommended that you have 10 teeth or fewer engaged in the cut. This becomes difficult, of course, when resawing tall lumber, but serves as a good general guide. Blades with a lower TPI will cut quicker and leave a rougher edge. They are best for resawing or when making long rip cuts. With fewer teeth the gullets tend to be deeper, which allows better material removal.

Laguna Guides

The Laguna Guide system achieves its superior stability utilizing 10 points of contact, four more than traditional guide systems. The ceramic has a very low coefficient of friction and does not generate significant heat. The ceramic contact points clean and polish the blade and help keep them free from resin build up. The guides have great wear resistant and they will last for many years. The Laguna Guide is a revolutionary blade�guide system (several patents pending) that are designed to give you many years of superior high�quality band sawing. Most blade�guide systems are designed to support the blade on the sides as well as either above or below the side guides to support the back of the blade. This forces the blade to twist, as pressure from the wood being cut is transferred to the back blade guide.

Laguna Tools guarantees all new machine sold to be free of manufacturers’ defective workmanship, parts and materials. We will repair or replace, without charge, any parts determined by Laguna Tools, Inc. to be a manufacturer’s defect. We require that the defective item/part be returned to Laguna Tools with the complaint. In the event the item/part is determined to be damaged due to lack of maintenance, cleaning or misuse/abuse, the customer will be responsible for the cost to replace the item/part, plus all related shipping charges. This limited warranty does not apply to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, normal wear and tear, product failure due to lack of maintenance or cleaning, damage caused by accident, neglect, lack of or inadequate dust collection, misuse/abuse or damage caused where repair or alterations have been made or attempted by others.
